《The Legacy of a Pirate》Chapter 22 Vivian's Story

Once we were settled down in a local inn, Ellie had entered my room to hear the story about Vivian.
"Hmm, where to start..."Fay flew out of my jacket as I sat down on the bed. Ellie would wheel herself over to my side after carefully closing the door.
"Well, you probably don't know this at all, but Vivian came from the Imperial City Xalphor."
"That place?!" I gazed up at Fay with my widening eyes.
"En.."Fay nodded as she landed on the top of my head before continuing, "Xalphor can't even be called a proper city. It's more like a military camp where the Imperials control every inch of the place."
"One of the things about them is how they take kids from their families and mold them to be perfect soldiers. The children are then forced through inhumane training that results in the majority of them dying."Fay sighed sorrowfully.
"So, Vivian was one of the child soldiers they were training?"Ellie typically asked.
"Yup and one of the best actually. She always had her abnormal signature strength and will from a young age. Vivian was groomed to be the perfect soldier, and she was even put into a proper unit before the age of 12. She was always fighting on the front lines against the Resistance, and the people that see her fight called her the Oni. Vivian was the perfect killing machine until a particular incident..."
Thirteen years in the past-----
Heavy rain drenched the broad grassy plains as the distinct smell of death lingered in the air. The Imperials and the Resistance were locked into a brutal battle which took place just over 1,000 miles from the city of Xalphor. A moderate-sized unit of the Imperial Army was sent to an area where their scouts said the Resistance was setting up a possible base. But unfortunately, it was a trap!
"Fall back! Those bastards were able to ambush us!"An imperial commander said as he witnessed the unforgettable scene of the Resistance assaulting them on their vulnerable flank, catching them unaware. His soldiers were dropping left and right.
"Commander! Vivian is still fighting on the front lines! Shouldn't we pull her out?"A soldier yelled.

"Bah! Let that demon girl be the distraction! We can replace someone like her at any time! Curse these hills!"The commander groaned as he simply didn't care for the child. His safety came first!
The commander was one of the people who secured their way into the Imperial Army with money. The Imperial's handed out a lot of advantages to the people that supported their cause of dominating the world. One of them being absolute power in the domains the Imperials control. Of course, the Imperials still control the areas from the shadows.
The small group of Imperial soldiers naturally followed the commander to escape through a nearby forest with unusual purple trees.
The adolescent purple-haired girl, Vivian could be found in front of the retreating army, slaying any foes that got in her way. The Resistance was able to ambush them, and Vivian was tasked by the commander to let him retreat first before leaving. Vivian would overpower the Resistance soldiers with just her little hands after she had lost her weapon. Vivian was trained to endure and to always listen to her commanding officer no matter what.
She planned to complete this task without fail!
Her youthful body rapidly became drenched in her own blood as bullets entered her flesh. Vivian was absolutely a wicked demon on the battlefield, and they even started to wonder if she was immortal.
Vivian restrained a soldier onto the ground and sent punch after punch against his face until ultimately his death.
"AHHHHH!"Vivian screamed with all her might as she became completely swept up into the fierce battle.
*BANG!*
She might have noticed the killing shot if adrenaline didn't elevate her. A sniper executed the shot when he had a chance and down she went, soaking the grass in her own blood. The battle immediately became one-sided after the defeat of the girl.
"Oh...I'm dying."Vivian thought while she laid there on the grass, her unique constitution kept her alive for the moment, despite all the blood seeping out of her wounds. Vivian started to think about her entire life and wondered if it all her effort was worth it. But she quickly obtained her answer as no one came to recover her.

Was she ever important to them? She thought as uncontrollable tears streamed down her battered face.
"I don't want to die..."Vivian softly mumbled as she became terrified the more she loses her consciousness.
"Poor child..." A soothing angelic voice entered the little girl's ears and looked to discover a beautiful tall woman standing over her. Vivian's vision had already started failing, and she couldn't completely see the woman.
Vivian struggled desperately to escape, but her body didn't respond.
"It's ok...I won't hurt you at all...Let's get you home..."The woman carefully cradled the purple-haired girl into her arms.
"It's..warm."Vivian thought as she finally passed out.
Present Time/Ian's POV----
"How did she live?!" Ellie hysterically shouted as she was on the edge of her chair. She became too invested in the story.
"Quiet down!" A guy in the neighboring room complained. Damn, I'm trying to sleep here!
"How did she...Live?"Ellie blushed with shame as she was reprimanded for her loud voice.
"The captain said Vivian's mom miraculously saved her and took her far away from Xalphor."Fay flew onto the decent bed as she yawned sleepily.
"I think I'll sleep now."Fay closed her little eyes and fell asleep immediately.
"What happens next! How did she learn to cook? Was it really her mom? What's her mom doing on the battlefield What...!?"Ellie gripped her hair as thousands of questions swirled around inside of her head.
"Shut up!!" The guy next door banged on the wall, and even that didn't manage to wake Fay from her sleep.
"Eep...I guess I'll return to my room..."Ellie frowned as she started to wheel herself out of the room. I really want to know how it ended!
"Ellie?"I stood up from the bed.
"Hm? What is it, Ian?"
"That fruit...we have to get it somehow." I clenched my fist tightly as I gazed sternly at Ellie. I could see the love and hope in Vivian's eyes as she spoke about her mom. I could feel something inside me start to churn.
(Vivian has always been a type of big sister to me! Well, despite her violent outbursts...But still!)
"En...Come to think of it. Isn't this the place where the battle took place?"Ellie tilted her head to the side as she pondered.
I became stunned at the realization.
"We are standing right in the middle of it!!!" I unknowingly shouted.
"@#$!#$#@" The guy next door shouted something intangible as he banged on the wall even harder.
The next day we start our shopping for supplies, and to get our hands on the Chinmoy fruit!
Meanwhile in the building in the middle of Renhart-------
*Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!*
The harsh noise sounded as if metal was crushed by a grinder.
But no! It was someone eating in the elegant dining room!
A massive potbellied man sat alone at the large table eating Chinmoy fruit. One had to know that the shell of the red fruit is almost like steel, and the man was pulverizing them with his teeth!
"More! Bring me more!"The man's entire body seemed to jiggle as he slammed his hands onto the dining table. The seemingly wealthy man finished his 20th large plate of the fruit, and he simply wasn't full at all.
"S-sir! We are all out!"The butler shrank back in fear as he covered his face with the serving plate.
"OUT?! HOW CAN WE BE OUT?! WHO IS STEALING MY FRUIT?!"The massive man stood up from his chair and glared at the butler. The man's saliva and the juices of the Chinmoy fruit could be found all over his face. It was such a terrifying thing to look at! And one would have to marvel how his clothes are all staying on him with his balloon-like body.
"N-no one sir! No one! T-Tomorrow is the day we stea...I mean buy all the fruit in the city!"
"Oh...is it that time already?" The man asked eagerly and the butler quickly nodded.
"Hahahaha! Silly me! Hahahaha!"The man's entire body jiggled as he laughed for a moment before his eyes became especially fierce. The butler became even more afraid.
"I'm kind of hoping some will fight back this time. I think I can stand to lose a little weight!"

Greys II - Ghosts
There he stood, dark eyes, dark hair, beautiful in the most devastating of ways. It scared me how little he had changed, his hair was longer and black, his frame thinner, like he hadn't eaten since I last saw him. His eyes were different, lacking something they had always held before, lacking anything really, and yet he was the same. He looked weak, but I knew he wasn't. "Hi, angel."His voice was just as dead as his eyes. It sent a shiver up my spine. That was the reason I felt sick, that was the reason he seemed different. He was dead, and as much as I wanted to hate him, I was sad he was empty, sad he wasn't the same man anymore."Hello, Gabriel."My voice came out softer than I would have liked, the words burning my tongue. But it didn't matter, I got the desired effect even if the volume wasn't there. He flinched, his eyes widening, his eyebrows twitching up and together, his jaw setting for just a moment. But then it was gone and he looked away, death settling back in his eyes, in the lines of his face.» ✦ «#2 in Angel Romance#3 in Demonology#11 in Thriller#Mature, 18+ for all the reasons.
