《Angel | ✓》43 - In The Past

I held my breath as I sped through the school gates on my motorbike only to find a huge crowd at the front of the school. Please tell me he's not here...
As I take off my helmet, I could hear the chatter of passing girls and I could already feel my heart beating faster.
"Oh my gosh, did you see his smile! He's so much more handsome without that mask!" one of them gushed and the others agreed eagerly.
My fists clench as I walk towards the crowd, and I pushed through to the front to see that the crowd was surrounding some of the jocks who were circling Francis. He was without his mask, revealing more of his face, more of his crucial identity.
I didn't know what they were talking about, I didn't care what they were talking about, and it only irritated me more as he store at me with his beady contact lenses and snickered my way.
I walked into the middle of the crowd and grabbed him by the wrist, making him laugh loudly as he turned back to the crowd to farewell everyone, and he got as a praise of glory as a result. I tried looking for a hidden space quickly and sadly ended up in the janitor's closet.
"What are you doing here?" I ask through gritted teeth and glare at him, but my eyes drop to his lips, making them quirk upwards. "And without your mask!"
I poke his chest but in return all I received was a devious smirk. I tried to ignore the fact that we were so close, but it was hard as my body was basically pushed up against his.
"Trying to win you back." he says in an overly confident tone and tries to grab my hand to kiss but I slap it away from him.
"That's not going to happen!" I snap but his smile still holds.
"Exactly why I'm here Angel; To convince you." Francis says, trying to swoon me but I shake my head cursing to myself.
"Just leave me the fuck alone." I demand and look him in the eye one more time and exiting the closet, but he stays in and just before I leave, I hear a groan making a lump grow in my throat.
Thankfully school had started, and the halls were buzzing with students, so nobody noticed me slip into the crowd.
Looking at my timetable, my eyes travelled to the class, and I immediately froze.
Of course, it had to be English.
As I entered class, everyone stared at me and I held my breath, walking to the seat only to be greeted by the curious glares of Tyler and Chelsey, and Francis was nowhere to be seen, much to my delight. "What is it?" I ask but Tyler just thins his eyes at Francis who had entered the class and was now talking to the teacher. He scoots closer to me to leans into my ear.
"I've heard that somebody pulled the new kid out of the crowd in front of everybody." Tyler said covering his mouth and whispering into my ear, my eyes moved to where he was looking. They were concentrated on 'Francesco' who was glaring right back at him.
"I was just putting him in his place." I shout in a whisper back before I was interrupted by Francis.
"Angel, I need help with this page." he says casually and look up to see my eyes widened and shooting him daggers "Valery." he corrects himself but it's too late and I could see the pair looking at me like they'd seen a ghost.

"Do it yourself." I snap and turn back to the two.
"It's not what you think" I say and Chelsey scoffs.
"Angel?" she mimics in a low tone "Then what am I supposed to think?" she says, and I glare at her.
"I just knew him a few years back" I say trying to defend myself only for Tyler to scoff as well.
"Care to elaborate?" Tyler asks raising an eyebrow, but I shake my head quickly. "Why- "
"I don't want to talk about it." I said seriously and they quietly shut up, much to my delight.
"Val, can I have some help?" Francis says in an ever so sickly-sweet tone, so I'm forced to go over to him and help, still feeling the wrath of Tyler and Chelsey's stares at me.
This day couldn't go any slower and break couldn't come any sooner.
I was sitting in the one class I had without Francis, sitting with Leila but staring at the clock.
"Valery!" Leila whines and I turn my head that is rested on the desk to face her. I hum to her to show I'm listening.
"When are you going start studying?" Leila asks and points to my stationery that I haven't even unpacked. "Hah.. sorry, just a bit out of it today." I sigh and studies my face more so.
"I talked to Chelsey and Tyler." she says and my insides churn, but I act like it's nothing. "Hm?"
"Don't try to hide it from me Val, how do you know Francesco?" she said, straightforwardly and I put pressure on my lips, so I don't say anything that I'm not supposed to.
"Let's say I have a bad past, a past I don't want to talk about." Stopping what I'm doing, I look Leila in the eye and see sincerity. Thank God.
"Okay, sorry for bringing it up but talk to me if you ever need to." She puts her hand over mine and I thank her.
Just as I'm about to start working I hear the bell go and I spring up from my desk, trying to go to lunch before a specific someone could stop me, but just as I'm about to turn to get to the cafeteria, an arm was swiftly wrapped around my waist and pulls me into an empty classroom. Before I can react, I'm pushed against a desk and met with a shining glare.
"What-" I tried to say something, but he cut me short. "What's your relationship with Tyler?" he asks in all serious and I scoff, pushing him off me and smirk, wanting to play with him.
"Why?" I ask with a sly smile, and he chuckles unhumorously that turns to a scowl within a second.
"Don't play with me, Angel." he groans. His figure towers over mine and his eyes darken making a slight bump form in my throat and I sigh abruptly.
"Fine! He's a good friend of mine." I say truthfully but he still doesn't let me leave.
"You better not be lying." he threatens, trapping me against a desk again and I thin my lips, not bothering to push him off me anymore. We stare at each other, both knowing what we want but I shake my head before I could do anything I would regret.
"No." I shake my head looking down, but he only frowns and grabs my chin to look upward.
"Yes." He retorts cockily and leans closer to me, staring at me and my lips intently and I finally gave in.

Just this once.
I leant over to him and quickly pecked his cheek before running out of the class to thankfully blend in with the huge crowd going to the cafeteria. I hear him walk out after me, but I pay no attention and quickly get my food and go to my table
I sat down next to Ollie, the only one besides Leila who wasn't looking at me sceptically.
I'm pretty sure the news had spread around the group, and they wanted answers.
"So, who's everyone's dates for prom..." Ally asked trying to act casually but I caught onto her antics.
"No one." I said in a monotone only to see her elbowing Tyler under the table with a sly smile.
"I hope I get asked out, that would be so romantic." Ally said in a sneaky tone and eyed me down. I narrow my eyes in confusion.
What was she up to?
I stay silent but don't take my eyes off her until the bell goes. I get out of my seat immediately, rushing to my next class, but yet again, I was pushed into a classroom, and I groaned and closed my eyes in annoyance as I hear the door slam close.
"Look Franc-" I'm about to say Francis but instantly stopped by the blinding combination of red hair and a neon pink top.
"Oliva." I correct myself in a sigh and stand up, over towering her now but it doesn't seem to frighten her in the slightest scent.
"You thought I was Francesco?" she pauses and looks at my face, but when I don't react, she only laughs more. "Ha! Don't be so full of yourself Collins." she says in a high-pitched tone, and I cringe at the sound.
"Also, if you hadn't heard, he's mine, and he will be my date to the prom, so you better stay away from him." she demands, pointing her bright acrylics in my face to which I slap away instantly.
"Have him. I don't want anything to do with him, but he keeps coming back. Try and see if he does that same to you." I snap back and her face scrunches up in anger as I try to walk past her once again.
"Watch your tone you bitch!" she squeals, so I ignore her as I push past her, and sadly she acts as if I had hit her and falls to the floor screaming.
I could hear teachers' steps coming towards the classroom and in a panic, I picked her up by the arm roughly, digging my nails into her and leaned over to her ear, whispering ever so slightly.
"Make another sound and I will make sure you will regret it."
She instantly becomes quiet, and I storm out of the classroom, not bothering to even glance at the teacher looking around for the so-called victim.
As I got into class, I apologies for being late and go to sit next to Leila and she glances as me as if she was asking why I was late.
"Olivia tried to mess with me again." I sigh in a whisper to her, and she tries to control her laughter.
"And did you put her in her place?" She asks and I nod with a smirk and we high five in victory.
"Girls! Quiet!"
"Sorry Ma'am" we say in unison, still smiling at each other.
It's after school and I had a hockey training, and I couldn't be happier.
We rarely had home training anymore, so it was like a special treat, especially since Francis wasn't going to be there.
I got on my sport shoes and clothes, heading to the field and felt the sun prickling on my skin. Of course, today it had to be sunny.
Getting a stick out of the shed, I ran onto the field to join the rest of the team.
"The run down was getting straight into a game and only a 10-minute break today." the coach announced, and everyone groaned.
Our training was always an hour and a half and during that, 10 minutes would go by like it was nothing.
All of us get into position and as I glanced to my side, I could see the rugby team, going over time as usual, but what made me look on longer, was seeing that they were making a circle around someone.
It must've been a minute before I could see who it was, and my jaw dropped as they moved out of the way.
No. Way.
That arrogant smirk of his picked up when he saw me on the other side, and he waved to me as the whistle blows and I'm forced to turn away and continue the game.
Running forward with the stick in hand, I smoothly stole the ball on the opposing side and headed for the goals, passing to other members before striking and scoring.
"Good job Valery! Keep it up." was what my coach shouted, and I nodded, starting to walk back to position, only to be called at by the rugby team, now sitting on the bleachers and watching our game play.
I turn to look at the team, only to stop as I remember who was probably leading them into doing this. I sigh and ignore the boys, playing game after game and scoring again and again. It was a thrill that kept me going, for now at least.
As the bell goes, it calls half time, and everyone groans in relief.
I step off the field to go and take a drink but a hand rest on my shoulder stopping me from moving any further.
"You can take an extra 10 Collins. You earned it." My coach whispers and winks at me, not letting any of my other teammates know and I laughed, thanking him, and running off to the water fountains.
As I get there, I lean down to drink until I hear a loud crash to my side. My head snaps to where the sound came from.
The sports shed.
I tiptoe to the door and peak my head in to see that someone was there, knocking everything over and messing the whole shed up.
"Hey! What're are you doing-" I stop mid-sentence as I see glowering eyes in the dark of the shed and step in, shutting the shed behind me.
"What are you doing!?" I yell and he just sighs, knocking over another crate whilst working over to me.
"You are always a stickler for justice. You know that, right?" He whines and I had to resist the urge to either slap or kiss him there.
I scoff and walk past him and start to pick up the mess he causes as he watches me. But after a while he lets out a dramatic sigh and hops off the shelf.
"I was just doing it to get your attention..." he whispers in my ear softly but send shivers down my spine as his warm breath pushes against my skin. His scent fills my nostrils as they flare, and I turn around suddenly.
"Well mission success!" I exclaim sarcastically, leaning against the wall, mistakenly so as he takes this opportunity to get closer to me.
It's silent between us as we stare at each other, his with intent and mine with anger, but I could feel my heart taking over and before I could stop myself, I leaned in, pressing myself against his, and he immediately complied and grabbed chin.
It felt so good, so peaceful but then I snapped out of it.
This was wrong. So wrong.
I pulled away, breathing heavily and he had a smug look on his face, but it vanished when he saw my expression.
Rage.
"Valen-" he says reaching for me, but I slap his hand away and scream.
"STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM ME!" I acted out, fuming, but this was all an act.
I didn't want to leave but I knew if this lasted any longer, the result wouldn't be good.
I stormed out of the shed, leaving him alone and before he could protest, I ran to the coach and fake sick, not wanting to be around anyone else anymore. "Sorry coach, I can't play anymore, I think I might be sick." I groan and put on a show until she finally takes me seriously and shoos me off the field to go home.
Once I'm out of anyone's sight, I straighten my posture and go to a dark corner of the school to make sure no one would follow me, before springing out my wings and whirling myself into the sky and all of my thoughts vanished.
Time to go home.
Flying to my apartment, I go to my window and put my hands on the left side carefully and slid my nails in a crack to pull it open and escaping the cold sky back into my warm apartment. I felt drained from today and stripped off my school clothes and immediately went under my covers.
I could feel myself drifting in and out of consciousness but as there was a burst of cold air around me, I felt myself wake up a little bit. I shivered from the cold, but a warm body trapped me in its arms, allowing me to fall asleep again. It felt familiar but I was far to turn around.
And it felt so lovely.
