《Angel | ✓》44 - A Gun & Proposal

It's so cold.
I shiver and look around only to be surrounded by the blue and white of ice and snow.
What's going on?
I take a step but, it's like walking on thin ice.
Crack- crack.
'No..' I look below me, and I see the floor below me covered in cracks and lines. The breaks of the ice becoming deafening as I try to run and after a final step, I fall into the cold water.
There was a huge crash and I shot up into sitting position.
What?
I shiver as there's a large gust of wind swirling around me and I look around to see that I'm still in my bed, tangled in covers.
It was a dream. I chuckle to myself and get up but suddenly frown as I see the breeze coming from my open living room window. I always left it closed.
Hearing a crash coming from the kitchen, I grab my throwing knives and hid at the entrance of the kitchen. Listening in, I could tell they were next to the counter doing something on it, and they seemed unarmed and unprepared.
So, I swiftly took a step around the corner and threw the knife only for the victim to move the left, missing the point by an inch and grab the knife handle, mid-air.
"That not very nice Angel." his arrogant voice pouts and I immediately drop my guard. Oh.
I get out of defensive position and narrow my eyes and glare at him.
"How did you find me?" I demand, pointing another one of my knives and him and I instantly stop myself. That was an idiotic question.
Francis completely ignores my question and throws the sharp knife back to me as he twirls around the cylinder on the countertop with his fingers, making my eyes widen. He stops and flicks the container over to me, which I catch again without a flinch.
"You're on them again?" he says in a monotone voice, but I could sense his disappointment.
Choosing to I ignore it, I walk to hide the container again and, in the process, I grab Francis by the collar and yank him out the door.
"Yes." is the only thing I say before I slam the door and let a deep breath, but it hitches as I hear a slight chuckle behind me. How-?
I shoot my head to look behind me and I could feel my skin pale as I see him still standing behind me, dangling car keys from his index finger.
"I thought I made it clear that I didn't want you here. Ever." I spit with venom, but he just laughs
"Well, you didn't try and ignore me last night" he says lowly, and I tilt my head, not knowing what he was talking about. Then I connected the dots.
I did close the window and he was the one to open it. But my eyes widen as a next thought. And he was the one next to me.
"Can I at least offer you a drive?" Francis says, switching the topic quickly, in a sarcastic tone and I narrow my eyes, face palming myself mentally. He probably already knew my bike is getting serviced and we could both hear the rain outside.
I'd give him that for doing his research.
"Okay." I said and grabbed an apple and go into the bathroom to get changed. Before I left, out of the corner of my eye, I could see his eyes light up and his smile became less dim.

Looking into the mirror, I gave myself a small sad smile but wipe it off as I scrunch up my face in pain when my head thumps in pain.
He was so happy and so was I.
Francis leads me out of my apartment, his hand in mine and into the carpark and we arrive at a black Jaguar, and I tried to hide my amazement at the beautiful car.
As I go to open the passenger seat door, Francis beats me to it and does a little bow, his face still smiling like a little kid. I try not to do the same as I enter the car and he goes around to the driver seat.
The engine roars as he starts it, his hand veins popping as he grips the gear shifter and I could feel my heart spike, but it was soon blunted as we shoot out of the park and into the streets.
It's quiet and I kept my face looking out the window and looking nowhere else, but I could hear Francis tapping his finger on the steering wheel, impatiently.
"Are we going to talk about yesterday?" he asks suddenly, and my muscles stiffen.
The one thing he had to bring up.
"No." I said casually and his scoff smug follows. "Have a problem with that?" Raising my eyebrow, I look his way and he's doing the same with me.
"And what if I do?" he retorts, and I thin my lips and narrow my eyes at him. There was nothing I could say back, and he knew that.
We halted at a red light, and it was quiet yet again.
As I was about to glance at him, I could feel a cold sensation crawl onto my thigh and my face instantly heat up, more so when he starts to caress it.
"I know you liked it." He leans over and whispers into my ear and I froze for a moment, letting my heart get the best of me but I shook my head vigorously.
"You're wrong." I try and say confidently but when I go to look to left, he's already staring at me intently, love basically written in his eyes.
"Then why don't we try again?" he asks slyly, as if daring me to and I remain silent, then before I can protest, he leans in, and his lips crash onto mine.
I groan as he starts to touch my thigh harder, turning to me and getting closer. I bring my hands to his chin, wanting him closer and he complies, almost leaning out of his seat to me.
It was just like last time, except better.
But it's all interrupted as a there's a loud beep behind us and we see that the light has turned green, and we were holding up the traffic, so I pull away and his eyes turn dark in annoyance, groaning slightly and uttering some curse words.
My cheeks were still heated as I looked out the window once again, but I could feel myself instantly become pale as I see a pair of eyes staring right back at me.
Olivia.
They're flaring with anger, and I slump down in my seat, trying to avoid her seeing anymore of me. And when I look back to Francis, the doesn't seem to notice as he's still smirking and has his hand on my thigh.
Could this day get any worse?
As we're a block away from school, I tell Francis to stop the car and he surprising does but grabs my wrist softly when I try to get out.

"I don't want you to get a cold." he says seriously, and I have to control myself to not burst out laughing.
"I'm sure I can handle myself." I answer sarcastically but before I can pull away again, he puts an umbrella in my hand and speeds off, without even muttering another word.
So bipolar.
When I walk back into school, I could see everyone circling Francis's car and admiring it as he leans on it and talks to the rugby team members.
Ignoring the scene, I go on my phone to see if any of my friends are here only to feel holes being burnt in the back of my head. I turn to see Olivia sending daggers to me which I ignore and start to walk into the school only to be pulled back.
"I warned you, didn't I?" was all I heard before I was pushed to the ground and my face was kicked violently.
"What the fuck?" I yell and look up to see a raging red above me.
"I said to stay away from him!" She yelled and was about to kick my face again before I grabbed her foot and flung myself off the ground and too my feet then stalking closer to her.
"And I thought I said I didn't care." I overshadow her in an instant and I could feel the anger growing in me, and Olivia could see that.
As I was about to give her what she deserved, a sweet voice sounded behind me. "Oh my gosh Valery! What happened?"
I spun around to see Ms Honey staring at me in horror and I touch my face to see if anything was there and sure enough, when I retract my hand, I see spots of blood from my nose on my fingers.
"Nothing, Olivia and I were having a little chat." I explain through gritted teeth, and she looks at me with a pale face, panic wrapped around it.
"I'll get going to the nurse's office now." Excusing myself from the situation I block the blood still pouring from my nose with the back of my hand. Although it didn't hurt at first, it now was now burning, and I needed to get some pain killers.
Coming into the nurse's office I got what I needed and waited on the sick bed, until my blood and throbbing headache lessened in pain.
Lying on the bed, I got out my phone to text Tyler that I'd be late for class, and I stared at the illuminated screen for minutes as it said he was typing but then he stopped.
As I was about to text him again, there was a loud bang at the entrance of the nurse's office making me drop my phone in surprise.
"VALERY!" That loud voice boomed around the room, and it was enough for me to forget about my headache and get out of the bed.
"What are you doing here?" I hiss quietly but Francis ignores me and starts to check me for injures.
"Checking up on you since you didn't come to class." he grumbles, running his finger along my face, only for me to slap it off when he touches my forming bruise, and I wince in pain.
His face darkens and I look around worriedly. Knowing he could have an outburst any second, I grab his arm softly to calm him. It works but he still stares at me with a glare of seriousness, a form of darkness covering his eyes that I was almost too familiar with. "Who-"
"No one." I interrupted him, already knowing his mind of vengeance but his glare just deepens. "I promise."
We hold each other's gazes for minutes until I go to turn away, but he stops me, his grip tightening on my arm.
I wince in pain and look back to see fire in his eyes. "Don't lie, Angel " he says, and I know it's a warning, he wasn't going to be letting go and he would find out sooner or later.
I thin my lips and look around, trying to avert his eyes.
"Olivia..." I utter quietly but it only fans the flame burning in Francis.
He immediately let's go of me and storms out of the office and I followed him.
"It was nothing! Please don't do anything." I plead trying not to shout and walk in front of Francis in attempts to stop him. He glares at me, but I don't cower down. "I'm not going to let you hurt her."
To this he scoffs.
"Even if she hurts you, even if she deserves it?" He challenges, and I had to swallow my pride.
"Yes."
He starts smiling, but it wasn't happiness. It was rage, pure rage. He starts laughing slightly too, it becomes louder and louder.
"She doesn't get to get away with what she did to you. Nobody does! " He yells but what makes my stomach churn is who walks into the corridor behind him.
Olivia.
My eyes widen and Francis turns to see her too, making his psychotic smile widen.
"Speak of the devil." he says with a smile, turning his back to me and walking towards Olivia, oblivious as to what he was about to do.
"Hi Francesco" she said in a high pitched, flirtatious voice, making me cringe even more.
Francis just remained silent, and I saw him reach into his back pocket and my breath hitches as it remerges. A gun.
He's silent as he gets closer to Olivia, his hand still hidden behind her back, and I could tell that she was getting suspicious.
And then she sees the gun and turns as white as a ghost.
"What?" Her voice quivers and tears swell her eyes, but all she gets in return is a laugh.
He laughs, his hand covering his face, but it drops in an instant, and as if he was taking off a mask and an unhitched look being revealed
"You should've never tricked me, you fucker," he laughs psychotically, his grip tightening on the gun as he raises the gun to her forehead.
My eyes widened as I realised what he was thinking of. He thinks Olivia is Sienna.
I sprint in between the pair, leaving me at gun point, just angering Francis more.
"Get out of the way!" He yells but I shake my head.
"She isn't Sienna." I thin my lips, wondering what I should say. "And she's not the only one who hurt me."
But he is still blinded with anger, and I could see his hand shifting to the trigger. So, I step forward to him without taking another thought. I snatched the gun out of his hand and sending the point his way, making him snap out of reality.
"You are."
His eyes widen and I stare into his as he inches back.
"Leave," I demand and, in a blink, he vanished, but I didn't bother looking for him, instead I turn around to find Olivia looking petrified.
"What just happened?" She asks, her lips quivering, and I shake my head quietly, not wanting to explain it.
"Never tell anyone about what just happened." I say, tucking the gun in my back pocket. "Please."
She only nods slowly, looking even scared of me. I walk past her, still feeling a pit in my stomach. She may have been a high school bully, but she never deserved something such as a gun to the head.
As I walk into class, trying to sneak in so no one would notice me, but everything is quiet, and eyes are on me.
"Why is everyone staring?" I whisper to Chelsey as I sit next to her, only getting a mischievous grin in reply. Just then, I felt a tap on my shoulder. Turning around, I could see Tyler standing up in front of me and nervously holding a red rose in his left hand. Then it hit me.
He got in one knee and held out the rose. "Valery, will you go to prom with me?"
And just then, when I glanced around the room, I could see Francis. Staring right back at me.
