《Devils Spawn》~Chapter 22~

Rip
It felt like I had been in here for months, yet it had only been a week. Still that was way too long to be stuck in a hospital bed staring at the same four walls and feeling like a freight train had run over me and then backed up for good measure. All the old ladies and some of the men had stopped in over the past week bringing flowers and whatever else you are supposed to bring a person in the hospital. I need to get out of here this place is doing my head in.
"How you feeling today, Rip?" Chief asked, walking into my room.
"Eh, better. I need to get the fuck out of here, when are they releasing me?"
"They said you can go home tomorrow, if you and the baby stay stable."
"We are fine, can't you do your scary biker act and get us out of here sooner?" I begged.
Chief laughed, "You are definitely my niece, can't sit still and just let people take care of you."
Chief stayed for a while, we chatted about nothing just filling the time. I kept trying to think of a way to ask him about Demon but I didn't have the energy to listen to an excuse. Demon hadn't been to see me since the night of the surgery, he hadn't called to check to see if I was doing ok.
So much for being the mans fiance.
I guess I was going to have to get used to doing things for myself. I couldn't rely on Demon to be there for me or the kid. It was time to make plans of my own, plans that didn't include a man that wouldn't stick around when he was needed.

Demon
I'm a horrible person and a shit fiance, I knew that. I hadn't been back to the hospital since she came out of surgery. I knew her and the baby were ok, I was getting reports from all the people who had made he effort to go see her.
She was supposed to be coming home tomorrow and everyone was getting the place sorted for her return. I couldn't wait to see her, i had missed her despite appearances. I couldn't go to the hospital and I couldn't explain why not.
The rest of the day passed in a slow, agonizing pace. I kept busy in the garage fixing up some spoiled princess' car, she had stood there going on about something but I hadn't listened to a word. I think that pissed her off since she left in a huff before I was finished with her car, no that I cared all that much. That night I stayed in my room and stared at the ceiling thinking of Rip and what she would be like with our child. I fell asleep thinking about a baby with here beautiful soft curly hair.
I woke up late, realizing the time I knew Rip must be back and quickly dressed and went to find her. I checked her bedroom and every other room the club had but she was nowhere, maybe I had the wrong time. I went in search of Chief but came up empty again.
Where the fuck is everyone??

Rip
"You sure this is what you want to do?" Chief asked as we cruised down the highway in my car, two bikes and a van followed not far behind us.
"Yeah, I'm sure." I said.
It was time for me to leave, Demon wouldn't like it but this is something I had to do.I had some idea of where my uncle was taking me but I couldn't be bothered asking for specific details. I just wanted to get as far away from Thorn as I possibly could, I needed some space and some time to get my head straight.

We had been driving all day and had finally reached our destination in the small but still slightly larger than Thorn town of Aspira, home of the Nevada charter of Devils Spawn and my new home. I knew Demon wouldn't come find me here and the men that Chief had bought with us wouldn't tell him anything, neither would the people from this charter.
Would Demon even care that I wasn't coming back? Would he try to find me? I guess I would find out when Chief returned to Thorn and told him the news.
I was shown to the room I would be staying in while I was here in Aspira. Chief then introduced me to the charters president, he was an older man, like my uncle. He had salt and pepper hair and broad shoulders, you could tell he had been a handsome man in his time. His wife, Sharon was a lovely lady, she had fire engine red hair and sharp features and she ruled the women of the club with both iron and silk. Once I was settled in and was talking with everyone, it was time for Chief to leave again.
"There's something else I need you to tell Demon when you get home." I said as he was getting on his bike.
"What is it?"
"Tell him I miscarried." I said, I didn't wait for his response, I turned away and disappeared in to the darkness.
