Lestrade was sitting next to me and then Molly. It was time for Sherlock speech which lead to me thinking about when John asked Sherlock to be his best man.

I was coming out to the kitchen to get some tea before I left for work.

"No Mikes great but he's not my best friend. Oh hi (Y/n)."

"Hi John." I smiled slipping past Sherlock to grab my takeaway mug.

"This is going to be the most important day of my life and I want to be up there with the two people that I love and care about most in the world." Smiling to myself I knew what John was talking about but Sherlock wasn't getting it. I sighed when sherlock didn't say anything for a moment.

"You know for a detective you're not really getting it."

"Thank you (Y/n) My thoughts exactly. Sherlock will you be my best man?" It went silent. I'd finished my tea now and let out a sigh.

"Well I'll be off now. Hope this goes well." Kissing Sherlock on the cheek while he was still in shock I left the room.

Sherlock cleared his throat. Biting my inner lip I glanced over to Lestrade who looked worried, this making me all sorts of freaked out.

"I'm sorry John but I can't congratulate you. All emotions and in particular, love, stand opposed to the pure, cold reason I hold above all things."

"Why is he saying that when you two are dating?" Molly whispered in my ear and I sighed leaning back over.

"He's Sherlock." I didn't hear what he said next but it rattled the audience.

"Let's talk about John. If I burdened myself with a little helpmate in my adventures this is not out of sentiment or caprice." I held in a laugh, he's trying to turn the whole room against him but why? "The point I'm trying to make is that a am the rudest, unpleasant, ignorant and all-round arsehole who anyone would have the misfortune to meet."

"You got that right," Lestrade said next to me with a chuckle and I rolled my eyes smiling up to Sherlock.

"so if I didn't understand I was being asked to be a best man it is because I never expected to be anyone's best friend. And certainly not the best friend to the kindest, the bravest and wisest human being I've ever met." Everyone awed at this. "John I am a ridiculous man. Redeemed by the warmth and the constancy of your friendship. But since I am your best friend I can not congratulate you on your choice of companion. Actually now I can. Mary when I say you deserve this man it is the highest compliment I can give. John today you sit between the women you have made your wife and the man you have saved." It's not often you see SHerlock go to so much trouble for one person. Complementing is not his strong suit. Molly was tearing up next to me so I passed over a napkin for her.

"Thanks." She whispered. I smiled rubbing her shoulder and leant forward to place both my hands under my chin.

"If you would all just cheer up a bit that would be better." He went on to tell stories of John and him until we stood but something was off. Sherlock dropped his glass meaning something was up. "Now everyone sit down." He jumped over the table walking around and analysing people.

"What's gotten into him?" Lestrade whispered into my ear.

"A case, he's trying to solve something."

"Weddings are great, john's great too he does this thing with.....Peas or maybe it was (Y/n)." He's overthinking, there are too many people. John looked over at me and I bit my lip shrugging my shoulders. "The loos George." Greg got a text and stood to leave the room. He's going to put this place on lockdown.

"Take date for the end of this speech."

"Let's play murder. If someone was to be murdered here today who would it be."

"I think you're a popular one right now." Mrs Hudson said and I touched her hand and shaking my head.

"Thank you (Y/n) darling and could you move Mrs Hudsons glass out of her reach."

This may not end well.

.....

But it did the two of us played out piece for John and Mary's first dance. Sherlock had caught the killer and had given me his floral decoration on his suit before going off to John and Mary. I was dancing with Molly and Mrs Hudson when spotting Sherlock leaving the room. Sighing I said my goodbyes before trotting off to catch up with Sherlock.

"And how did you plan on getting home?" I questioned and he turned just after swinging on his coat.

"I knew you'd follow me out." Smiling at him I went to walk past to show him the way to my car but he grabbed my wrist. "Just one dance?" I giggled nodding my head as he placed a hand to my waist.

"And why were you leaving the wedding early?" I breathed out leaning into him.

"Everyone was having fun without me so why stay." Rolling my eyes against his chest I lightly kissed his neck.

"You did great today you know. An amazing speech and solved a murder. Can't stop you any day." He hummed before spinning me around and back up once more we looked into one another's eyes. He kissed me softly and we slowly stopped dancing.

"Mrs Hudson won't be around tonight we can be a loud as we like." I giggled sliding my hands down his arms to hold his hands and kissed him one more time.

"Sounds like a plan to me. Let's get going." He took off his coat putting it on my shoulders and the two of us drove home back to the apartment.
