《The fashion consultant | Sherlock Holmes x Reader|》|Chapter 6: Family squabble|

I'd gained three new clients after last weeks advent. I'd still rather forget about the dead body but no point in trying, Sherlock has made that very clear. He rather enjoys my reaction whenever we meet he mentions the body. John has given up on stopping his childlike behaviour while I had given up in caring.

"Where are you off too (Y/N)?" Mrs Hudson stood outside her doorway holding a tray of tea and biscuits. She treats those boys like her children.

"Oh, I'm meeting up with my sister shes...." Flicking out my phone which just rang I sighed. "I suppose I'll be meeting up with her later on." Mrs Hudson smiled weakly.

"Well since you have the time. Why don't you help me carry up these." No time to respond I took hold of the tray as she wandered back into her apartment. A small sigh of protest escaped me so I walked up and knocked on the door.

"Enter." It was Sherlock. The moment I stepped into the room he shot a gun at the wall. Jumping out of my skin I managed not to drop anything.

"SHERLOCK no gun firer in this flat!" Mrs Hudson roared from below and he grinned. John came from the bathroom fully dressed but with wet hair.

"What was that?" He spoke before seeing me at the doorway. "Oh (Y/n) I see Mrs Hudson gave you the tea tray."

"Obviously." Sherlock grimaced about to shoot again only for the gun to be taken from him. That's when I let out my long await breath.

"(y/n) deary are you alright?" Mrs Hudson spoke behind me now also needed to get into the flat.

"Other than fearing for my life, I'm fantastic." Sherlock laughed at that remark as I set the tea tray down and sat on the couch.

"Good to hear. Did your sister cancel again?"

"You're perceptive as always and no just pushed back. Her car broke down, she's on her way now." He hummed thinking something through. Mrs Hudson started pouring the tea creating some sort of noise in the otherwise dull conversation.

"How are you fairing?" John asked while being passed a cup of tea which in turn lead to him thanking Mrs Hudson.

"I would be better if you both stopped mentioning it." John's lips went into the thin line. "Sorry." My apology came right after and I sighed staring at the patterned carpet in front of me.

"You'll be interested to know that we have a new case," Sherlock said while tossing ball that was in his pocket at me. "A man was found dead. No forced entry, nor was there any sign he killed himself. He was shot on the right side of his head and had this written on his forehead." Sherlock gestured to the ball in my hand.

"Why are you tell her this? She's already seen a dead body because she kindly gave us access to that night." John was getting angry, he's not a fan of getting other involved.

"I want to see what she thinks."

"Well, its someone's code but you can decipher it without a key." Right now all it was is shapes but if you could get one letter than you could crack the code. "You two were at the crime scene, there should have been an indicator."

"(Y/n) deary your sisters here." Mrs Hudson said who I didn't notice leave the room, I sat my tea into its dish before standing.

"I never thought I'd see the day I'd meet Sherlock Holmes," Jess said basically ignoring me.

"Good to see you too Jess." Grabbing her wrist I pulled her to the couch I was just occupying while crossing my arms. "What happened this time?" A long sigh came from me seeing her slightly frantic state.

"Oh, what do you mean?" Her innocent voice rang in my ears making my foot tap a few times onto the soft floor.

"Your car didn't break down you were looking at someone instead of the road." She laughed awkwardly making my eyes roll. "You're sleeping with him again you know what happened last time."

"It's fine no one was hurt. He may have just changed the gear of the car while we were...." Placing a hand over her face I sighed.

"No, I don't need to hear that It's obvious anyway from the state you're in. No one wants to hear about you having sex in public, that's two years jail time Jess."

"Where's your sense of adventure?" I growled at her just wanting to slap off that smile.

"Locked away where I keep my hatred for you." Her face pouted then making my eyes roll. "Come on I had to rebook our reservation and I'm not doing that again." We left forgetting to say anything to the two men who saw our family squabble.

"How do you remember all those laws?" Jess spoke calling after me as I stomped my way down the steps.

"I have a sister like you who always manages to break them without getting court."

....

The restaurant is almost impossible to rebook for, if not for the fact I know the owner. Yet I was drinking another batch of tea to which Jess was drinking the opposite, coffee.

"He likes you." The ringing of the crowd surrounding us dulled down once I heard her speak.

"Who are we talking about again. I zoned out." She gasped lightly kicking my leg from under the table.

"You always zone me out thinking about work. I'm talking about Sherlock. You should have seen the way he stared at you when you figured out what I'd been doing." She sighed long and softly holding her hands together on her cheek, she was swooning over a man I barely know.

"I don't know what you're on about Jess. Just finish your dessert you have an appointment in half an hour."
