《Cookies & Cuffs》XXVIII| "I thought we were family,"

"Cayden! Put the god damn spatula down and grab some water!" I yell, staring at the fire increasing in the pan,
"Why are you just standing still!" He shouts back, turning to glare at me, next thing I know he throws the spatula in the fire...
"CAYDEN!! Why did you do that!? You idiot!" Panicking I look around for a jug, catching Cayden just staring at the fire with a grimace expression.
I grab a glass from the sink and filling it with water and putting it to the side, "Cayden grab the pan!"
He looks confused but grabs a cloth and picks up the pan, running towards the sink and dropping it in, finally putting an end to this disastrous lunch.
I slowly turn towards Cayden, who was just blinking at the brunt pan, "you owe me a pan, oh and a spatula," I say, glaring at him.
He finally looks towards my murderous glare and nods, "yeah...I'll buy you new pan and spatula..."
I raise my brow at him, "and how will you do that, with your fancy new anklet?"
He looks down at his ankle monitor, twisting his ankle to get a good look, "does look a bit fancy, doesn't it?"
"No," I deadpan,
He sighs, "don't worry, I promise I'll buy you a whole new set,"
I shake my head at him, just deciding to go with coffee instead, "I thought you knew how to cook?"
He shrugs, getting the mugs, "I do but you were distracting me," so now it's my fault...?
I gasp, "how even? I didn't even do anything,"
"You smiled," he says, taking me by surprise. I attempt at holding my laugh in as I shake my head at him. God, why do I love this idiot.
It's been almost two months since I finally confessed, in 3 days Cayden would finally be free. We could actually go out as a real couple, go on real dates even though I really like the ones Cayden sets up in the back yard, but we can step out the house, together!

I feel like a flick on my forehead, "ow!" I look up with a glare while rubbing my forehead in pain.
"Where are you lost?" He asks, getting the packet mac and cheese out the counter.
"Nowhere," I mutter while frowning up at him,
Cayden sighs, "Anyways, how does 5 min Mac N cheese sound?"
After finishing dinner, we cuddled in front of the tv watching movies and enjoying each other company, until a knock on the door had to disturb our peaceful Sunday.
"Don't tell me," I groan, not wanting to get up from my comfy place, snuggling closer to Cayden. Sighing loudly, I finally get up to the door, ignoring Caydens laugh.
"Don't you guys have a house?" I shout from the other end of the door, before opening it.
"We do," Smirks greets, "this one," he smiles, walking in, followed by the usual lot.
"Hey," Nice greets with his soft smile, while E just holds his hand up.
Shaking my head I close the door and follow them to the front room, where Cayden was now sat up.
I look up at the clock above the tv, "it's literally 8, why are you guys here so late?"
"It's not that late, the days just started," Smirks smiles, sitting on the other end of the couch.
I shake my head at them as they all sit around the room, Smirks as usual being the one to bring snacks, dumps the bag on the table.
"You guys ate?" I ask, sitting in between Cayden and Smirks.
"We stopped for some food on the way," Nice says, looking down at something on his phone.
I nod, "so, any reason you guys decided to grace us with annoying presences,"
Smirks frowns, "Awh and here I thought we were family," Family?

I feel my heart skip a beat at that word, feeling overly emotional, family? Never been exactly lucky with that one.
Maybe this could actually finally be my family, a group of misfits who would probably never hang out if they were in high school together, forget hanging out, I would never even dare to approach these guys. Only drunk high school Meldoy probably would...
I guess these guys will have to do.
I smile at smirks, "Awh, aren't you the sweetest!" I cooed, pulling him into a side hug, "a literal baby! Who probably killed a billion people..."
"Hey, hey! Billions a little extreme, I'm still in the thousands," he protests, slowly pulling away. Oh god!
"You know, mum, it's not nice to have favourites," Nice playful frowns while glaring at me, putting his phone away.
I gasp, "I would never! I love Max and all non-Max's the same,"
There's a moment of silence, where Smirks and Nice both look at me with betrayal,
Smirks dramatically looks away, "make that a thousand and one kills,"
Nice shakes his head at me, "I thought we were special,"
I pout and frown at them,"Erm... I mean, I still give you all the same amount of cookies... I'm only joking guys, I love you all the same," I say, smiling brightly at them, leaning back into Cayden's arms.
"Except, you love me more," Cayden comments, I shush him, don't expose me like that!
"Anyways, if you guys are done playing house, I'd like to update you all on the whole Warren situation," E speaks up, bringing everyone's attention to him,
"Has he done anything?" Cayden asks, pulling me closer to him.
E shakes his head, "no, but the word is that he's in Spain, we don't exactly know for what though if it's for a vacation or business."
"Well if he's being quiet, why don't you just leave him? What's the point of poking a sleeping bear," I decide to say, shrugging.
I feel Cayden nod, "we're not, but we'd like to be planned, just in case he's planning a hit or something," this time, I nod. True.
Smirks speaks up, reaching into the bag for some snacks, "besides, I don't think he wants to go back in, so he may lay low for a bit,"
I nod again and smile, "that means, you all can just relax and get on with your lives, that's if you have any,"
Smirks gasps while I notice E narrow his eyes at me, "rude," Nice mutters.
"Yes because, selling cookies is a life," E sasses, causing me to gasp, wow... Also awhh, he's warming up to me.
I clear my throat, "maybe if you had a flippin' business that you were passionate about then you would know what it takes to run a flippin' business but you don't,"
E narrows his eyes at me, then just shakes his head while rolling his eyes, Smirks being the only one who seemed to get the reference because he laughs. While Nice says, pointing at me, "I understood that reference,"
Cayden sits up slightly beside me, pointing back at Nice, "I understood that reference,"
I facepalm, shaking my head at all of them.
These dorks!
