I don't wanna lose you now, I'm lookin' right at the other half of me
-Justin Timberlake
I went home in a daze. I still couldn't believe this was real. I couldn't believe this was happening when my life was going pretty well. I didn't want to think what was going to happen now. My head was gonna explode from everything.
I entered the house without bothering to knock. Uncle Mason would probably be sleeping since it was ten at night, I'd went over to the park to clear my head once again and not realized what time it was. I poured myself a glass of water, gulping it down, trying my best not to overthink. Sure, Noah was here, but that didn't mean anything.
I climbed up the stairs, over to my room, throwing the door open and shrieking in surprise when I saw a figure sitting on my bed. I placed a hand on my beating heart, breathing hard, composing my shaking body, and closing the door behind me as I entered the room.
"Angel." Theo pulled me in his arms as I reached him. His grip was comfortable, fiercely protective and safe. For a split second I thought if he knew, but I let go of that thought. If he had known, his reaction would have been a lot more different. I sank in his embrace, holding onto him tightly, burying my face in his neck and inhaling deeply.
He kissed my hair. "Where have you been?"
"Just-just Josie's." I stammered.
"You weren't answering my calls. I was worried." He said.
"I'm sorry, I-I wasn't paying attention to my phone. I didn't know. I went over to park, tried to clear my head."
"You're okay?"
I nodded, pressing myself further in his arms. "I'm okay."
He pressed his lips to mine, his tongue entering my mouth without permission. I tilted my head up, shivering when he bit my bottom lip. "I'll see you tomorrow."
"You're leaving?" I asked. "Why?"
"I'm gonna go to my parent's house tonight. We're having this family games thing. Come with me."
I smiled softly. "I thought it was a family thing?"
He stroked my cheek with the pad of his thumb, his eyes looking deep right into mine. "It is."
My heart palpitated. My breath got knocked out of my lungs, my body going numb. His eyes looked so sincere that I was blown. "You're perfect."
He closed his eyes and pressed a kiss to my forehead. "You're everything."
I put my arms around him again, sighing in content when he held me tight, lightly playing with a strand of my hair. He placed his chin right on top of my head, his posture calm and composed. "You promise to me you're okay, right? You'd tell me if something was bothering you?"
I looked at him. "Yes."
I'm sorry, Theo. I cannot afford to hurt you again, and telling you about Noah would hurt you so much.
"I'll drive you to uni tomorrow."
"Okay." I whispered back. I watched as he let go of me, opening the door to my room, looking at me with his raw eyes, so full of admiration and fondness. He gave me a small smile, and left without another word.

I lay down on the bed, glancing up at the ceiling. There were so many thoughts in my head, so many possibilities of what could happen. I was worried how Theo would react after finding out Noah was here. I didn't want to lose him, I didn't want him to get hurt because of me. Noah being here did not change my feelings for Theo a bit. But it did surface old memories, memories which I'd buried, memories when I wasn't broken this much.
"Nothing is going to change." I whispered to myself. "You're happy right now, A. Nothing will ever change that."
With that thought in mind, I closed my eyes and went into a deep slumber.
"No, no no no! Dad what the fuck are you doing?"
"Language!" Mom exclaimed.
"I'm sorry, Ma. He just killed me. We're partners, dad. You're supposed to kill them. Why the heck would you kill me?" Tobias groaned out.
"Oops, I didn't know it was you." Dad grinned, not taking his eyes off the screen. "Anna, honey, please let me win this time. I love you, you know that, right?"
"Uh huh." Mom smirked. She glanced at me from the corner of her eye and motioned with her finger. I smirked back, adjusting the controller, and rushing to the opposite side of dad's soldier. Naturally, he chased after me in order to kill me. And at the same time, mom's soldier rushed after him and we heard the bang of the gun. Mom and I cheered as the automated voice congratulated us.
"You cheated!" Dad exclaimed.
"It's called strategy, honey." Ma replied to him.
"I am never, ever partnering up with you." Tobias swore.
"Aw that's too bad darling. There's only four of us, you will have to." Dad smiled sweetly at him.
"Well, there's going to be five of us next time. Theo's going to invite his girlfriend." Tobias smirked as I froze.
There was silence as thick as a fog for two minutes. The sound of a needle dropping to the floor could be heard. And then my parents shrieked. "Girlfriend? When? How? Who?"
"Who who who?"
"Who?"
"Come on tell me."
"Theo-"
"Come on Theo tell them." My stupid brother poked my side.
"Oh I know I know!" Ma exclaimed. "It's the girl you brought over at the gathering. Amelia, isn't it?"
"Oh yeah, I'd forgotten you'd already introduced her to our parents. Damn you're fast bro." I wanted to punch my stupid brother's idiotic face. Well, not so idiotic.
"Ooh the pretty girl. Yeah yeah, she can come over the next time. She helped me make fun of you, yeah I like her." Dad nodded.
"Would you guys please stop?" I muttered.
"Tell us about her." They huddled closer to me.
I took a deep breath, closing my eyes, imagining her beautiful face, her stunning blue eyes, those long blonde locks falling down her waist. I imagined her smile, the way she felt against me, her milky white skin. "She's everything."
"Aw."
"That's it?" Tobias said. "Come on, tell us more."

I smiled. My family was everything to me, and I always told them everything. This was not new to me. I remember when Tobias had first started dating, my parents had literally asked him his girlfriend's favorite ice cream flavor. Since then, we'd made a promise to each other of never hiding things. Family always has your back no matter what.
"There is something about her I cannot place, you know. She manages to leave me breathless every time she looks at me. The best part of my day is when I see her. I-I can't explain it, it's like she has this pull inside her like magnet. She's the north pole and I'm the south. I literally forget every single thing when I'm with her. She manages to make me the happiest when she smiles. I don't know."
I looked up to see my mother smiling so wide I was afraid her lips would ache. Dad's eyes were shining with delight, Tobias looked mischievous as if he still wanted to pull my leg, but I knew he was happy because I was happy.
Mom pulled me in a bear hug. "I am so happy. I am so damn happy. I can't wait to meet her. I mean I've already met her, but I can't wait to officially be introduced to your girlfriend."
"You'll love her." I grinned.
"She helped us tease you. Of course we'll love her." Dad grinned back. "Don't think I'm gonna go easy on you, Theo. Oh, the things I'm gonna tell her." He rubbed his palms in glee. "When are you inviting her over?"
I bit back a scowl. "I dunno, I'll ask her."
My phone rang and I excused myself. I went over to the kitchen and pressed the phone to my ear. "Hello."
"Yo dude. Sup?"
"All cool Rider, you?"
"Oh you know I'm always fucking great. Say what, we have a new trainee."
"Huh?" I asked, not really understanding what he meant.
"A guy just applied for the football trials, said in his form that he's had experience. They happen tomorrow, you've gotta be there."
I rubbed my eyes, yawning. "Which guy?"
"New kid, don't remember the name."
"Alright."
I stifled another yawn, bidding a good night to my parents and retiring up to my room. I turned off the lights, stripping down to my boxers, curled inside the blanket, thought of Mia, and slept with a huge smile on my face.
When I woke up the next day, sunlight streaming through the window, I smelt something burning again. I groaned, not really understanding my father's sudden interest in cooking. I went over to the washroom, took a warm shower, got dressed, and went downstairs. I didn't really bother going into the kitchen because I already knew what the scene would look like, I'd already seen it ten times in this house. I grabbed an apple from the fridge, pressed a kiss to my mother's forehead, and proceeded to leave.
I went straight to the fields when I arrived at uni. Mia didn't have classes till 10, so I still had time to be there for the trials after which I would have to go greet my girl. Rider was standing on the bleachers along with Cameron, a notepad in his hand. He looked mad for some reason. I turned to look at the ground, my eyes colliding with the familiar faces of my team mates.
And then I found an unfamiliar one.
"Fucking bastard lied." Rider gritted out.
I looked back to the new guy, scrutinizing his posture. His form screamed that he was doing this the first time. He looked to his side, and then the other. He ran when others ran, he stopped when someone stopped. When the ball came to him, he looked alarmed and kicked the ball without thinking, successfully passing it to the other team.
"Experience my ass." Cameron mumbled under his breath.
I scrunched my eyebrows when I saw him shout out to someone. The ball came to him again, and this time he did manage to keep the ball with him for a few minutes, running towards the goal post, and just when I thought he would strike a goal he tripped down on the ball.
Everyone paused. He groaned on the ground, clutching his knee. And then everyone burst out laughing.
"Enough!" I walked down the bleachers as everyone straightened. I loved my team to death, and we always considered each other as equals. There were a very few times when I used my captain voice on them. And when I did, they knew it was something serious. This was one of those times.
I folded my arms on my chest when I stood in front of the new guy. I raised an eyebrow, inhaling, exhaling, then giving him a hand. He looked at it, top to bottom as if analyzing, and took my hand and got up.
"Why did you lie to us?" I kept my voice calm. I'd found that often intimidated people. "Do you think we're fools out here? Do you think we don't have anything else to do except take trials?"
"Well, you came pretty late." He said. "These have been here for the past half hour."
"You wasted their half an hour. They could've done a lot more practice." I pointed out.
"Could have." He shrugged, then chuckled.
"I'm sorry what the fuck is funny here?" This guy was pissing me off.
"Just that you're trying to be intimidating but you're not." He gave a small laugh again. "I'm not intimidated by you. I came here because I wanted to try something new."
"That is what they have classes for. The team is for those who have tried it out and are good at it."
He raised his hands in a mocking way. "I'm sorry, captain. Won't happen again."
I really do not fucking like you, dude.
"Oh wait jeez, you are the captain, right?" He laughed. "Damn if you're not that would be embarrassing."
I raised an eyebrow.
He grinned. His grin looked evil and sick. "Pleasure to meet you. I'm Noah, Noah Archway."

Everyone knows how the general story is supposed to go. A man, unwittingly going about his normal and ordinary life, is suddenly whisked off to a game style fantasy world where he is expected to become the unwavering hero of the realm. That is until the summoned hero throws a Hail Mary and gets himself transported to a tutorial world before the summoning can be completed. Add in a clumsy goddess and a broken planet and that is just where our story begins... Greetings all, thanks for taking the time to read this. This is my first story here on RRL and it's becomming one of the things I look forward to working on each day. As of June 2020, the story description has been updated (now that the characters have told me what was actually going on this author thought it prudent to update this) . Updates will be sporatic as i have time to juggle real life with writing. You the readers have become an integral part of the story helping to decide how things will progress, so enjoy the story and please leave a review or rating so this author can continue to improve the story. New chapters coming soon with edits to existing ones in process As a side note, I wish I could add a science tag to this. While this is still fiction, I have been incorporating real life scientific theories and explanations for how things could be *plausibly* explained. (No, I will not lecture on these points, but they are added to author notes) ~badw0lf

Starchild
“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment.
