《Last Chance✔ (Completed)》Chapter Twenty-Six

Pierson's POV

"They're going to come after us sooner than what we expect sir," one of my men say to me.

My eyes scan the reports my investigator has set before me for the third time. Why does this have to happen now? I'm just getting Elena back into my life.

Although, this time I'm not going to cut her out. I can't. It would hurt the both of us too much. I need her in my life, so I'm going to do everything I can to keep her there.

"How many?" I direct my question to him.

His lips set into a thin line hinting that the information that I'm about to hear is not going to be pleasant. "We don't have a specific number sir, but the army is much larger than it was then. Maybe even double in size."

I nod my head. "And the leader?"

"My guys are still working on finding him, but we had no such luck. He and his pack are good. Whenever we have a lead on them it's like they know and throw it off. From what we have gathered they have taken down several more packs around us."

I slam a fist on the table and the objects placed on top tip over making a clattering sound. How have they not been stopped yet? The packs near us are fierce and knowledgable.

I look up and scan the room trying to think what would be the next move. My beta, investigators, fighters, and strategists all surround me, waiting for me to voice my thoughts.

I look at each member, one by one, scrutinizing the way they talk, stand, and move. They all range in a variety of skills, age, and intelligence. Some have worked with my father before me and some have began their work when I became in charge.

"I need to talk to my beta about some of the new information we have gathered privately. I need everybody to leave the room for now. We'll meet again to talk more about our findings soon," is all I say to everybody.

They all stay in their places not moving and each of their eyes widen looking at each other before they rest their eyes on me. Nobody says a word until Jake voices his thoughts.

"Pierson we need to figure out what we're going to do now," he says. My men agree to his words and argue that it needs to be taken care of now.

"I know, but I need to speak to you alone, Jake. So, everybody leave the room now," I say through gritted teeth.

That's all my men need to hear before they close their mouths, grab their belongings, and rush out of the room.

Jake watches each one leave with narrowed eyes and when the door shuts he finally turns to me looking annoyed.

"Pierson, we need to plan now. They could come at any time and..."

"Someone in this pack, most likely, someone who was in this very room is giving the rogues intel," I say lowly interrupting him.

His mouth closes shut and his face contorts into confusion.

"What? Why do you believe that?" He asks.

"Tell me Jake. How do they throw off the lead we have on them each and every time? How do they know our every step? Are you telling me they're just that lucky?" I ask calmly.

His dark eyebrows furrow in response. He opens his mouth once to speak, but closes it soon after.

I know I should trust my men, but I'm not an idiot. There's no way the rogues are doing what they're doing so easily without help on the inside.

"I may be wrong, but I will take the necessary precaution needed to protect this pack. You're the one I trust the most therfore, we need to figure out if there's any snakes in this house before we further plan. I can't let someone working for the other side gain more information in regards to what we want to do if they're going to rely it all back to the rogues. Once, that is done we can plan what we want to do next," I direct.

Jake searches my face and when he sees that I'm very serious on the matter he releases a deep breath and nods his head in understanding.

"Ok you're right. I'll look into it. I'll have my guys I trust the most to see if that's the case," he tells me.

"I appreciate it Jake."

He moves towards me and pats me on the shoulder once and grips it.

"Anything for you Alpha," he smiles before releasing my shoulder and walking out the door.

I turn around and start to gather the files on my desk when I hear the door open once again.

"Did you forget something?" I ask not turning around to look.

"No, but I was wondering if I could talk to you for a second?" Comes a gruff voice.

I look up, but hesitate to turn around. I calm my angry breathing before I do and am met with Elena's father's eyes.

What could he possibly want with me?
