《Being a Villainess is No Joke》10. The Ball

"We are here, Lady Adailia."

I took the knight's arm and he escorted me to the huge doors of the Royal Academy. I knew it was the Royal Academy because it was mentioned in the novel that the ball would be held there.

The guards announced my name and opened the huge doors.

My heart thumped against my ribcage.

Breathe! BREATHE!!!!

My brain reminded me.

I was blinded by the lights inside. The room was circular in shape and huge (almost as big as our dining room) the floors were probably made of marble and there was a huge chandelier attached to the ceiling.

The room was filled with teenagers in fancy dresses and a few servants.

Donttripdonttripdonttrip.....

I chanted under my breath as I tried to walk gracefully with those high heels. Luckily Adailia's body was well trained and I did not embarrass myself.

I walked down the long flight of stairs to get inside the circular hall with Seanna following me from behind. Everyone had their eyes on me.

Wait...... Why me????

Isn't Seanna prettier than I am??

Why??...... Wait.... Don't tell me this is that type of novel where nobody realises the heroine's beauty except the male protagonist.

It is.

I thought as I remembered that there was no one, not a single soul who was interested in Seanna except the Prince.

I swept my eyes over the crowd which mostly included boys since the Academy didn't have many girls.

They were all staring at me with their mouth hanging open, while some were blushing and then I saw a boy who had blood trickling down his nose. While the girls just stared at me with jealousy and admiration, mostly jealousy.

Wow..... Never in my 29 years of life had I experienced such attention.

It made me feel self-conscious but I kept a straight face and resisted the urge to look down. Adailia was proud and arrogant. She would never avert eyes or feel shy.

I finished walking downstairs without tripping.

Good.

NOW WHAT???

I tried to recollect the Ball encounter from the book. Adailia would just casually stand in the centre of the hall and snicker at people or insult them for their poor sense in fashion.

Hmm....... Nah, I don't want to do that.

I scanned the hall and then my eyes landed on something and I instantly made my towards it, walking fast but gracefully.

I finally stopped in front of the table.

I could imagine my eyes sparkling and lips twitching, threatening to break out a grin.

FOOOOOOOD!!!!

YAY!

I remembered how I was starved since morning. I wanted to stuff that bloody cake already.

I looked around to see if any other people were eating (cause it would be weird if only I was the one stuffing my face) and found few noble ladies taking a piece of cake.

I took a plate which had a pastry on it and sat on a chair adjacent to the table.

I took a bite a moaned. This is delicious. The food at my mansion was delicious too, but this was a whole new level.

I took another bite and moaned again but a bit slower so that people don't think it was my first time eating a cake. Honestly, I have no patience or grace when it comes to food. I could eat the same ramen the whole week and still react the way I did when I ate it the first time and gobble it all up. The same is with this cake. I can't control my emotions when it comes to food.

"Lady Adailia must really like this cake." Seanna said, smiling.

Shit. She must be thinking I am some dog who hadn't been fed for days by his master. Though they did starve me.

I fake coughed and tried to act like a composed person, "This cake has a very...unique taste."

I took another small bite and bit back a moan but smiled at the deliciousness.

Ugh- it's hard not to smile when you're eating good food.

I took a quick glance at Seanna to see her slightly wide eyes. She must be surprised since Adailia doesn't smile, unless for the Prince.

"This cake cheers up my mood." I said, smiling a bit more.

"Oh my God!! She smiled!!" I heard someone shriek in horror.

My smile instantly dropped replaced by a frown.

What's wrong if I smile?

What's wrong if Adailia smiled??

Was she treated like this if she smiled?

Who would want to smile if someone said that?

"So? Is there a problem?" I snapped my head to glare at the lady who said that and her gaze dropped on the floor, embarrassed.

I ignored her and munched on my cake, trying my best not to show any emotions.

I again looked at Seanna. She was just standing beside me quietly, her gaze focused on her hands which were intertwined together in the front. Why is she not eating anything? But knowing Seanna she probably won't eat until Adailia tells her too. And knowing Adailia, she would never do that.

"Seanna," I said "Bring me two plates of that tart." I said as I gave a server my empty plate.

She nodded and quickly brought two plates.

I took one plate and looked at the other and then placed my freehand on my stomach.

"Oh! I don't think I'd be able to eat one more tart." I said and sighed, "But throwing it away would be such a waste. Oh! But you could eat it. It is the same thing anyway."

Ugh- that sounds like I am calling her a trash can, but that is something Adailia would say. I don't want her to think that some ghost has possessed Adailia and call an exorcist if I told her to eat.

Seanna looked taken aback but I gave her a 'don't ask me why' look and she nodded and started eating.

"Uh.... I'll prefer If you would sit down and not spoil my dress with your terrible table manners." Just sit and eat kiddo.

She sat down beside me and we both started eating.

Oh my God! The food here is making my time worth it.

As I was stuffing my face with the tart suddenly the guards announced, "Now enters Prince Raashid de Alger Obelia, Sir Caiden Mac Eachern and Mage Marinus Mac Eachern. "

Everyone's heads turned to the door and I could here few gasps.

When my eyes landed on the trio I myself gaped at them.

The Platinum Trio, or what they were called by the Nobles, made their way down the stairs.

Caiden, with his bright blonde hair and bright green eyes, gave off a bright and cheerful aura, like I could imagine Rainbows over him.

While Marinus gave off this chilling aura with his cold and indifferent personality with dark blue hair and eyes.

And Raashid... That guy was shining. Literally, he was just radiating this aura that screamed power and authority (and male lead of course). His handsome features had a peaceful expression.

Daebak*! This guy is so elegant and handsome that it was hard was to take my eyes off him. I remembered how the book described his beauty.

His handsome features and kind words made the ladies swoon.

"Oh my God!! I think our eyes met!! I can't take it!! Oh God!!!" I heard a girl shriek beside me but I didn't turn, my eyes too much captured by his beauty.....till I heard a loud thud.

The girl just fainted.

Fucking fainted.

Welp. That's our Male Lead for you.
