《The Heart Wants What It Wants ✔️》Ch. 43

Time was moving so fast that before you know it, it was nearly Christmas. The air was getting colder, the decorations were all put up, items were going on sale, and etc. Things have been going great nowadays.
I heard from Chris' neighbors that he was back at his apartment, so I decided to pay him a visit. I whistled for Mike to follow me, and he did obediently. We went down a floor and knocked on Chris' door.
To my surprise, it wasn't Chris who opened the door. A tall blonde hair guy opened the door and greeted me.
"Hello?" I say in confusion
"Hi! Who are you looking for?" He asks
"The guy who lives here?" I say
"...are you Harley by any chance?" He asks
"Yeah..."
"I'm Luke! Chris' best friend." He sticks out his hand for me to shake. Mike growls at Luke.
"This must be Mike!" Luke squats down and tries to pet him, but Mike snarls at him.
"Okay...come on in! Chris is here." He opens the door for us. I walk in and look around the apartment. So many memories begin to flood back to me.
I looked to the kitchen and chuckled softly as I remembered the time he tried to bake with me.
Flashback
"Pleeaaassee Har!!!" Chris begs "I really want to learn how to bake!!"
"I'm afraid my kitchen will be destroyed after." I say stubbornly
"But Harleyyyyyy" He whines
"No, Chris." I say firmly
"We'll use my kitchen!!! And I'll buy all the ingredients as well!!" He offers
"I don't know..."
"Pleaseeee" He gives me the puppy dog eyes
"Fow youw best fweind?" He pouts
"....fine." I groan
He cheers loudly and hugs me tight. Chris ran off to the supermarket right after to buy the ingredients. He was in such a rush he didn't even ask me what we're making and what we need. I ended up driving to the supermarket to go grocery shopping with him.

And guess what? I was right. When we finished, the kitchen was destroyed and a complete mess. All we did was make a simple batch of chocolate chip cookies, but we managed to make a huge mess.
"Remind me to keep you away from the kitchen unless it's eating time" I sighed
"Okay so I'm terrible at baking, BUT it was a lot of fun. You can't deny that." He says
"I wasn't going to. It was really fun." I chuckle
"Yup! That's me! Chris the fun guy!" He says and does a little dance
I grabbed some flour and threw it at him, making him stop and spit out the flour.
"Holy-" I laugh loudly
"You're in trouble." He says as he stands up and grabs some baking soda. I grab the flour and prepare to attack.
He yells and starts throwing baking soda at him while I throw flour. The war goes on for a while until a huge cloud of white dust covers the air. We start to cough and make our way to the living room to get away from the cloud of flour we created.
There was about 3 seconds of silence before our laughter began to fill the whole apartment. I could barely breathe right now from laughing too hard. Tears formed in our eyes and our stomachs began to hurt.
We got so loud that one of Chris' neighbors knocked on the door. We tried to calm down as we walked over to the door. He opens the door and smiles at the person.
"Hello" He say
The person looks at us weirdly. I look down and realize that Chris and I were still covered in flour. I stifle a laugh and try to control myself.
"Hey...uhm could you please keep it down?" The person says
"Oh! We're so sorry! We'll keep it down" Chris says
"Thanks..." The person gives us one last weird look then walks back into his apartment.

The two of us look at each other amd burst out laughing. This time burying our faces into the pillows.
End of Flashback
The cookies were actually pretty good though. By the time our giggle fest ended, the whole room was almost covered in flour.
I looked to my right to see the familiar couch that Chris and I used to always lay in. We'd pig out on pizza, soda, and junk food every weekend. We watched so many movies and so many series that we practically watched all of Netflix. One time, after his stressful finals, I surprised him with a blanket fort, his favorite foods, and more.
Flashback
I unlocked the door to Chris' apartment and dumped all the things I bought on the counter.
Chris has been stressing out so much this past few weeks because of his exams and projects. As his second best friend-yes there's a first, but I don't know where or who he is- I decided to make him very happy by surprising him with all his favorite things when he comes home.
Chris won't be coming home for another 2 hours, so I have a lot of time to prepare. I placed his favorite ice cream-which was also my favorite- in the refrigerator. Then, I began to make his favorite lasagna and pepperoni pizza.
I pre-made the pizza already, so all I needed to do was bake it. While the pizza baked, I made my special sauce for the lasagna. After cooking them all, I had a few minutes left to change out of my smelly clothes and into pajamas.
After everything was ready, I laid it all on the coffee table in front of the TV and waited for Chris. My wait didn't take long though since after a few switching of channels, the door began to open. Mike ran to the door to greet him
"Hey Mike!!"Chris laughs and pets him
"Hmmm did you learn how to cook? It smells delicious!!!" He chuckles he makes his way to me. I jump up and tackle him kn a hug.
"WELCOME BACK!!!" I yell
"Hahahaha what's all this?" He asks
"I decided to be a good person and a good friend , so I got everything you love!!! I made lasagna and pizza. I also bought mint chocolate chip ice cream for dessert. I also have your favorite movie ready to be played" I say with a huge grin
"Seriously?!" He says with an excited look
"Yes!" I laugh
"YESSSS!!! You're seriously the best person ever, Har!!!" He picks me up and hugs me tightly.
"I know" I flip my hair
We both laugh and then proceed to devour all the food I made. That night, we binged watch all of his favorite shows and movies, we ate SO MUCH junk food and sweets, played so much games, and stayed up till 6AM the next day.
Basically we ruined our eyesight, we got really fat, we didn't sleep, and we had so much fucking fun.
End of Flashback
I've never felt so fat in my life. That night was so much fun, but it was probably so bad on our bodies and health.
I got so caught up in the memories of him and I that I didn't realize Luke was already stood by Chris' room. I quickly caught up to him and was about to open the door when he stopped me.
"Listen...Chris is...He's not feeling well. He isn't the same and there's something he hasn't told you. I just hope that you don't freak out and you'll have a calm reaction about it all." His face has turned into one that was sad and pained. I furrowed my brows in confusion.
"Okay?"
I opened the door slowly and the sight that greeted me was not what I expected. I let out a soft gasp in shock. Tears pricked my eyes as I looked at my best friend who looked to be in so much pain.
"Chris..."
"H-hey Harley..."
