《All Our Flaws Are Aligned [COMPLETED]》Candour

You woke up in the bed alone. It wasn't surprising. After you and Bucky got back, you'd showered, and slept in separate rooms. Bucky had been staying in this room with Steve, but he bluntly told you to stay in it, and he would take the couch. You hadn't exchanged many other words, but there was some kind of...understanding between you. You knew there was going to have to be a conversation. But not yet. Not today.

You inhaled deeply as you looked around at the room. You didn't take it in much yesterday. It was similar to the last safehouse bedroom, kind of plain, a bed, drawers, a small window, a kind of worn, damp smell.

Nothing too special.

You finally tuned into the thing that woke you up in the first place; the voices.

You heard multiple voices, talking loudly outside of your door. Arguing. You heard your name.

You slowly pulled on some sweatpants and a Tshirt that was on the floor, and made your way over to the door. When you opened it, the room fell silent.

You walked into the lounge to a sea of hesitant eyes watching your every move, but you kept your eyes up confidently until you reached them. You immediately noticed Bucky sitting on the armchair next to Tony, watching you. You knew what they'd been talking about.

"How are you feeling?" Tony said, moving to stand up, but you waved your hand nonchalantly. "We were just..."

"Asking Tony for the truth." Nat said, looking at you with a raised eyebrow.

"And I was telling them that there's nothing else to-"

"We didn't know anything about her until two months ago, now we've been traipsing the globe, risking our lives trying to find where she was kidnapped to." Sam interrupted.

"That is your job, this is wh-"

"I'll tell you." You said, making Tony's mouth snap shut. Making the team look back at you. "It's not right that they're fighting in a battle with no info, Tony."

You rubbed your neck, then folded your arms across your chest. They waited for you to speak.

"A few years after I was born, the place I grew up in came under attack. My mother decided to leave me with Tony, so that she could join the war. Tony was..." You looked to him for help on the next word, and he coughed.

"Unprepared, I was unprepared for a child. Palmed her off to a different employee every day." He added.

"Why did she send you to Tony?" Clint asked.

"Because I'm a famous genius?"

"I'm getting to that." You explained. "So while I was under Tony's care, minus Tony," You glanced at Stark with a slight smirk. "Back when Tony was going through prototypes of his arc reactor, one of them exploded."

"Very early model. Idiot employee couldn't run fast enough." Tony added. "She got caught in the impact."

"Is that not dangerous?" Rhodey frowned. "That seems like it'd be dangerous."

"I was fine. Except for the next few years when I started displaying...powers." You sighed, and licked your bottom lip. "My mum died in the battle so Tony was stuck with me. He was a bit more attentive after that, trying to contain-slash-study what I could do, much to the dismay of his machines..which I kept breaking. As I grew older, we realised there was some similarity to what Thor can control, so every so often, he dropped by to help coach me where he could." You breathed in deeply before saying the next part. "13 years ago I had my first proper outburst. I was dating Nick." Your eyes went to Bucky's, which flashed with anger. "Nick got in touch with Stark, and on the way home, Hydra intercepted us. And so began the hiding."

The team was deadly silent. None of them were looking at you, except Bucky, who looked indescribably angry.

"So..the fake name?" Sam asked, breaking the quiet.

"They can't find you if no one knows who they're looking for." You shrugged.

"What...what is your actual name?" Rhodey said. They saw you hesitate.

"The thing is," Tony stood, commanding the attention back to him. "The more people that know her name, the more it's said directly to her for the purpose of calling her, it builds the...power, behind it. It's easier to summon her, to track her. Which is why she uses a fake name everywhere, and why I never use it."

"Easier to summon?" Steve frowned.

"Like Thor right? You say his name with enough oomph, and you call him down to you right?" Clint explained. You and Tony nodded. "But why does.." Then he looked at you, his eyes looking you up and down.

"Does that mean you're..."

"She's what?"

"My mother..." You said. "She's...she was a Valkyrie. From Asgard. I'm vaguely related to Thor's family."

Again, the room was silent. This silence lasted longer this time. Even Bucky gave away the shock in his expression. You looked away from him.

"Hold up," Rhodey suddenly said, frowning and holding a finger up. "If ..if you're from Asgard, why did you get left with him?" He pointed to Tony. You gestured for Tony to take that question on, which he looked incredibly unhappy about.

"I uh, may be...I may have..." Tony stammered, not knowing what to say. But some of the team caught on.

"You dated with a Valkyrie?!" Nat exclaimed, the only one brave enough to say it.

"I, okay," Tony held his hands up. "It's not like they lead with it, is it? 'Oh hey, nice to meet you, by the way I'm from another planet' - you don't do that alright? We met, we had a good time, and four years later, this little miscreant appears on my doorstep."

"And so began the best part of your life." You said with a glimmer of humour in your eyes. Tony smiled at you, then turned back to the room. "So, does anyone have any other questions? Or can I get a coffee?"

Sam leaned forward.

"Do you ever regret the fact that Tony is your dad?" He asked, and you smirked from the cheekiness.

"Yes." You laughed.

"And...what is your name?"

"You can't say it, she'll get pulled out." Clint hissed.

"Where, from 2 feet across the room?"

"Thing is," Tony interjected. "By not using it, we've diluted its power over the years. So she won't get 'summoned' anywhere. But if we start using it now, it'll begin to gain traction again. Hydra might be able to summon her to their base if we're not careful."

"They used it." You sighed. "It's how they grabbed me. I heard someone calling me, went outside, bam. Not the full summoning shindig but ...it's doing something."

"Well none of us know her name Tony so-" Rhodey said.

"We do." Nat said.

"Who's we?" Rhodey frowned.

"Me and Bucky." She explained. Everyone looked at Bucky, who was staring at you. "And if I'd hazard a guess, he's been using it a lot more than I have."

Tony narrowed his eyes at Nat when he saw her smirk grow, then turned to Bucky.

"Care to explain?" Tony asked him. Bucky inhaled deeply as you watched the uncomfortableness take over.

"Don't act so surprised Stark. We all saw what happened in the car." Nat said, as she winked at you. You bit your lip in embarrassment.

"So, just so I have all this straight. Stark has a daughter, who Barnes is somehow dating," Sam started to summarise, while you made a noise of protest, and Tony glared at Bucky. "And she happens to be half science experiment, half asgardian, and Hydra are after her cos she's got all this power. We can't say your name cos then they can track you more easily, so we gotta find out how they knew where you were without ever being told where you were. Is that it, are those the basics?"

"Yeah, think you summed it up quite nicely there, Big Bird." Clint agreed. Sam threw a pillow at him.

"I think it's safe to add that Hydra probably drew us to Peru just for the opportunity of attacking the compound while we were gone." Steve added, and the others nodded.

You looked around awkwardly as the team took in the information at their own pace. It did seem a bit arrogant for you to not tell them who you were, when they were helping you the whole time. You went over to the coffee table and took one of their notebooks and pens. You wrote your name on the paper in big letters, then threw it back down.

"There you go." You said with a smile. They all leaned forward to read it.

"Thank you for trusting us with your title." Vision said with a slight nod. You nodded back. Then you went to the kitchen to make coffee. You felt Bucky approach you.

"That's my Tshirt princess." He whispered into your ear from behind. You shrugged, turning around and taking a sip of your drink.

"Your point is?" You asked. He just looked down at you, a slight smile playing on his lips. He didn't answer you, and you just moved around him and headed over to Tony.

After you'd finally had your coffee, the team started packing up, ready to fly back to the compound. They needed to work out how Hydra knew where you were, and they needed the full tech in the compound for it. They'd also started trying out some new nicknames for you - Sam had Sparkles, Clint's was V-dog ('the V is for Valkyrie' he explained), Steve's so far was calling you Kid just like Tony did, and Nat's was Stark Number 2.

You couldn't wait to hear the others.

You packed up your things, without speaking to Bucky again, but catching his eye every now and then as you all moved around the cabin. You split between the two quinjets, and when both planes were in the air, you let yourself feel a couple of seconds of relief.

You sat next to Wanda on the floor of the plane, smiling at her, and seeing her smile back. She started to talk to you about how she understood why you didn't tell them, how she understood the feeling of the powers being too much to control, and shutting yourself away. Before you knew it, you and Wanda were sitting crossed legged in front of each other, comparing notes, comparing powers, white and red tendrils dancing over both of your fingers.

You looked across the plane as you laughed with her, and caught Bucky's eye again. Your laughter died down, and you offered him a small smile before turning back to Wanda.

Steve looked at his friend.

"What?" Bucky sniffed as he re-busied himself with organising his weapon bag.

"It's sweet."

"What's sweet?"

"You and her." Steve replied. Bucky glanced at his friend, then back at you. "I don't think she hates you anymore."

No, Bucky thought, he didn't think you did either. He noticed you were still wearing his Tshirt.
