《The Author Who Became A Villainess》Arc 3: Chapter 51

Elenor was in her room alone. Alec was once again leaving the estate on and off and at this moment he wasn't in the estate. After what happened that day, everything was the usual which at first caught her off guard but soon got used to it once again. If he's going to act like nothing happened, she's going to do the same.

She shouldn't take his words seriously. Because this world is still following the plot, it will find ways to bring him and Rosina closer which will make him fall for her.

Elenor heaved out a sigh before looking at the pocket watch in her hand. Cullingford was embedded on the rim of the pocket watch. With this, she could present this piece of evidence to Lloyd and Alec would be able to get back everything that was rightfully his.

However, she kept remembering what Alec said and she couldn't help but hesitate. Even if she was able to get the Baron title back for him, she had a feeling he wouldn't take it as well.

Did he want to keep his identity a secret for now? If so, why? Gaining a title will help him in the long run. Elenor couldn't understand what he was thinking. Opening a drawer in her desk, she placed the pocket watch inside and closed it shut. She decided to put this on hold for a while. As much as she wanted to run up to Lloyd, shove all the evidence into his face and help Alec gain the Baron title, she still needed his consent in letting her do it. Giving her his pocket watch was only to make her satisfied, not a proper consent.

She sighed again before getting off her chair and leaving the room. She had agreed beforehand to go shopping with Rosina in a letter. Elenor wanted to ignore her letters at first but after reading the contents inside, she couldn't. Not when she imagined Rosina having puppy eyes while writing the letter asking her out.

Elenor hated herself for going back on her word but she kept reassuring herself, 'Just this once..!'

Today, she wore a simple dress which was mint colour, a hat to go with it, a pair of black mary jane shoes and a bracelet. She was about to head inside the carriage when one out of the three maids that always dressed her up came running out.

"Miss don't forget your umbrella!" she hurriedly said, handing her the umbrella.

Elenor took it and nodded. "Thank you Alice," she smiled.

"Of course my lady! It seems like the clouds are slowly turning grey so bringing an umbrella with you is a safe choice." Alice beamed.

"Alice always seems to take care of me so well,"

"Because I love miss very much." she spoke in a very serious tone.

The two stared at each other before bursting into small fits of giggles. Elenor waved goodbye to her as she got into the carriage and rode away to the capital where she will be meeting up with Rosina.

Once reached, she took in a few deep breaths to calm herself down before walking out of the carriage. She walked to the centre of the capital where Rosina was waiting. She was waiting at the large water fountain, looking at it with a smile.

"Sorry to keep you waiting Lady Rosina." Elenor said as she walked to where she was.

Rosina turned to Elenor and shook her head. "I only came not that long ago Lady Elenor."

Elenor nodded and sent her a small smile, "I see then shall we head over to those dress shops? I heard there are new dresses that recently came today."

Rosina clasped her hands together and beamed happily, "How lucky of us!!"

The two headed inside a boutique which did not have many customers at the moment.

"Welcome Lady Elenor and Lady Rosina," a worker greeted and bowed, "What would you like to see today?" she asked.

"Could we see the latest collection of dresses you have?" Rosina asked politely.

"Certainly. Right this way please," the worker guided the two of them inside the store before dozens of dresses were displayed in front of them.

"Lady Elenor this would look beautiful on you!" Rosina hurriedly showed her a dress before another one caught her eye.

"This dress would look good on you as well! Oh and this.."

Rosina kept picking out dresses for Elenor to try on so instead of a nice relaxing shopping day together with her, it became mostly about her trying on the dresses Rosina kept picking out for her.

"This would look nice on you Lady Rosina." Elenor tried to divert her attention away from herself and to the dress.

Rosina stared at the dress before her eyes lightened up. "You like this dress Lady Elenor?" she asked, taking the dress and placing it on her, looking into the mirror to see if it fit her.

Elenor nodded, glad it took attention off her, "Yes, I think you would look good in it."

Rosina turned to Elenor and beamed brightly, "Then I'll take any dress that Lady Elenor says is pretty on me!"

At the end of the day, Elenor and Rosina visited many boutiques and bought a few dresses. Elenor was thoroughly exhausted but Rosina still looks like she has enough energy to run a whole marathon.

"Lady Elenor shall we walk around before ending today's outing?" Rosina cheerfully asked after they handed their newly bought items over to the coachmen.

Elenor smiled and nodded, "Sure."

The two walked around the capital and came across some stores that were selling random knick knacks. Rosina seemed to be very interested in them as she kept stopping her footsteps, glancing over everything.

Elenor was indeed having a good time with Rosina. She didn't have a girl friend that she could invite to do girl things with. Lloyd would probably whine about needing to go into so many stores. Alec is another case she did not want to get into. He would do anything but it wasn't the same as doing these types of stuff with another lady.

'Maybe it won't be so bad to be friends with her...' Elenor noticed her trail of thoughts and instantly cut it off.

No she would put Rosina in danger, she couldn't possibly do that. As Elenor reprimanded silently in her head, she noticed a shadow looking over them. She spun her head over to the direction she saw the shadow but it disappeared as quick as a light.

"Odd..." she mumbled to herself.

"What are you looking at Lady Elenor?" Rosina asked, noticing something was off.

Not wanting Rosina to worry, she shook her head and smiled. "Nothing I thought I saw something but I was mistaken."

"Oh I see then shall we head back to the carriages now? It seems like it's about to rain." Rosina commented, looking up at the sky.

The clouds were now blocking the sun and were greyer than before Elenor had left the estate. She agreed with Rosina that they should hurry back to their carriages. As they were walking however, they soon felt something wet touch them.

"We still have a long way to go before we reach the carriages though.." Rosina mumbled worriedly as the rain began falling heavier.

Elenor was about to suggest to her that they could run or take shelter at a store but then she remembered what she had been holding this whole time. Quickly before the rain fell on them even more, she lifted up her umbrella and opened it, placing it over her and Rosina's head.

"I completely forgot I had an umbrella with me," she sheepishly said, slightly embarrassed.

Rosina laughed, "Thank goodness you had one! I wish I was as prepared as you."

"I don't think I deserve your praises. It was actually my maid who had given it to me before leaving." she humbly replied.

"Still, it was lucky of us to have an umbrella!" she optimistically said which made Elenor smile.

They continued their way back to where their carriages were at in a comfortable silence. The sounds of their shoes clacking against the pavement as they slowly walked to make sure they wouldn't slip and fall. The rain drops hitting against the umbrella in a somewhat calming rhythm. Elenor felt calm and in peace at this moment.

"Being able to be under one umbrella with Lady Elenor is a blessing," Rosina abruptly spoke, a beautiful smile blooming on her face causing heads to turn at her.

Elenor glanced at those whose heads were turned and they quickly looked away not wanting to provoke her. She turned back to Rosina who seemed truly in bliss because of this event that should have been an inconvenience to them.

She couldn't help but smile back as well after seeing Rosina smile so brightly. She was able to make almost anyone feel happy and comfortable in her presence, it really was amazing to Elenor although she knew this is what the main character will be able to do.

Again, Elenor noticed a shadow following their every footsteps. She frowned before turning to Rosina.

"Let's speed up a bit, the rain could be heavier any minute now."

"Alright!" Rosina agreed and the two picked up their speed while still being careful not to slip.

"Lady Elenor," Rosina suddenly whispered.

Her eyes were more serious and her expression was different from before this.

"Someone is following us right?"

Elenor nodded in response, "Yeah. It's best to go into crowds but since it's raining right now there's no crowds so the best option is to hurry back to our carriages and call our guards."

Rosina nodded at the plan. "Let's keep making quick turns so they can't catch up as well."

"Good plan."

Following what Rosina suggested, the two kept making sharp quick turns to lose whoever was following them. Elenor noticed their carriages which weren't that far from them anymore.

"We're almost there," Elenor said, notifying Rosina.

"Look out!" Rosina shouted.

Elenor noticed a sharp glint coming towards her, she quickly pushed Rosina away along with her umbrella she was holding and dodged it.

She frowned as she was now standing under the rain without the umbrella over her. She gazed over at the person who had jumped on them.

"Lady Mille, what a surprise." Elenor nonchalantly spoke, moving pieces of her hair away from her face.

She glanced down at Mille's outfit before smirking, "My, how does it feel to be in tatters now?"

Mille shot her a nasty glare. "It's because of you! It's all your fault!!"

Elenor scoffed, folding her arms, "What? How is this my fault? You swore that you spoke the truth yet you lied and quite terribly. Blame this on your stupidity."

Mille's face turned redder, tightening her grip around the blade she was holding. People inside the stores noticed the commotion and began to look out. Elenor sighed finding everything all so troublesome.

"Lady Rosina, please hurry back to the carriages. Call the guards as well." Elenor spoke.

"What about you?" Rosina asked worriedly, holding on the umbrella tightly.

Elenor briefly looked at Rosina and shot her a smile, "I'll be fine. If I could beat a man up I can definitely defeat her."

Rosina took one last look at the situation before nodding. She quickly ran off to the carriages just like what Elenor had instructed her to do.

Elenor turned back to Mille. She clicked her tongue as she began pulling up her sleeves. With a provocative look, she spoke to Mille,

"Well? Are you going to try your best to stab me or what?"
