“I wanna run

Chase the morning sun

When I’m with you

Give it all away

Catching fire as the wind blows

I know that I’m rich enough for pride,

I see a billion dollars in your eyes

Even if we’re strangers till we die.”

"The thing is, Ryder, you know half the truth."

Ryder looked at me, still confused. "Is there something more than you hitting her because she rejected me?"

I want to strangle him. No joke.

"YES!" I said, exasperatedly. "I didn't even hit her because of that! The reason was completely different. I just wanted to talk to her. I searched for her everywhere! But I couldn't find her. Then I went to the washroom to freshen up when she appeared from nowhere and started spewing bullshit about deserving a high rank mate like alpha of beta."

Ryder visibly stiffened and I saw his fists curl.

"She said that she wanted a beta as her mate and that she'll steal away Chance from me!"

Ryder's eyes widened and he looked genuinely surprised at the sentence as if he hadn't expected this.

Well, obviously. This is what happens when you choose to stay blinded to reality.

"But... But...." He mumbled, trying to form words as he said the next sentence. "But maybe she just said so to piss you off? Maybe she's jealous that you are so close to me? Maybe...maybe she didn't mean it. I mean, it's not like she's gonna steal Chance away just by saying it."

"You don't understand, Ryder! Those two have been together before." I snapped at him with a sudden amount of despise filling in my body as I was forced to remind myself of the fact that my mate has been with that bitch before. Physically, but I hope not emotionally.

Ryder opened his mouth to say something before the words sank in and he froze as a blank emotion crossed his face.

"What..." He whispered. His eyes casted downwards and his entire body slumped in despair and despondency.

I fisted my palm and tried to control myself as I felt my wolf trying to come out again.

"You have no idea what all she said, Ryder. My wolf couldn't control it when some other female said that they're gonna steal our mate away from us because they've been so close before. Flashes of the past came back to me and I was reminded of the times I saw them kiss and the times I smelled them on each other. It's no question that they've hooked up before. And I am not saying that it's just Cindy's fault that she didn't wait for her mate. It is Chance's fault too. But at least he is willing to apologise and move on but she... She rejected you, Ryder. She said the rejection words! Chance never rejected me verbally, and on top of it, she dreams of mating with my mate just because he's a beta. Do you expect my wolf to stay calm after it. Do—,"

I couldn't even finish my sentence when I was cut off by a ferocious growl.

"That son of a bitch!" Ryder growled, his hands fists and the veins in his neck throbbed as his eyes turned pitch black in color. Telling me his wolf was in control.

"How dare he touch what's mine!" He growled again and dashed towards the door with an inhumane speed.

"Ryder!" I screamed as I tried to control him as he slammed the door of my room open, almost knocking it off the hinges. He barged into the living hall and it was the worst timing ever as at the same time, Chance entered the pack house.

Chance's eyes turned to me and he grinned as soon as he saw my face.

But what he didn't notice was the footsteps of a very livid Ryder as he strode towards him and punched him right in the nose causing a horrible cracking sound to reverberate in the room.

"Chance!" I screamed my mate's name this time and a pain spread in my chest when I saw Ryder hurt my own mate in front of my eyes.

I tried to fight my wolf who was trying to come up and I am honestly surprised that I was able to because I wasn't very experienced with having wolves and handling their possessiveness.

I involuntarily stepped forward to separate the two but a strong arm on my waist stopped me and I was pulled backwards. Turning around I saw Katherine shaking her head at me and whispering, "it's best if you don't interrupt them. Don't go in between. Let them do what they are doing."

Chance stumbled back at the impact of the punch. He looked confused at first but when Ryder tried to hit him once again, his hands came up in defense and caught Ryder's hand in time. Growling at him, as his wolf came to power, he threw a punch at Ryder himself and Ryder too, stumbled back at the impact.

It took seconds before both of them shifted into their wolf forms without the care of the world right in the middle of the living room and I saw the two wolfs fight and bite back and forth.

Ferox bit Lupus' neck and I lost my mind in that second.

Growling in anger, I snapped at Katherine and pushed at her hand as my wolf took over. My eyes turned black in anger. But she tightened her hand at my waist and sharpened her glare.

"I'm doing the best for you, Olivia." She said as I swirmed unsuccessfully in her steel grip.

Damn, Warrior blood.

Watching two wolves fight might be mesmerizing for an outsider but when it's one of your own mates in it, it is like a dagger of silver placed on your heart.

At one point I had been able to break free of Katherine's iron grip and rush towards the fighting wolves.

But as soon as I was near them I realized that I can't even separate two wolves of full grown size who were even bigger than me, even if I wanted to.

Let alone save my mate.

I can't even freaking shift, I am such a pathetic werewolf.

Helpless and hopeless.

That's what I felt.

The fight between a beta and a gamma can be stopped by only one person- The Alpha.

Since Reece wasn't here, his father stopped the fight by shifting and coming between the two wolves who were bloodied by then and had cut and bit and scratched themselves at several places.

Chance had a giant gash at his stomach and Ryder had his neck bit painfully.

I felt my wolf whimper within me but I pushed her away. Why can't she shift soon? Why is it taking her so damn long?

"You have disappointed me, Ryder." The Alpha said in a genuinely disappointed tone and the entire pack house went silent at the authority in his voice.

We all slightly bowed our heads in respect.

"This isn't the first time you're putting up an unnecessary fight, Landon. Two days ago, you got in a fight with someone during training because he wasn't performing well and was distracted."

My head snapped in his direction as he stood with his head held down in embarrassment. When did that happen?

I am sure though, he didn't fight because the guy was distracted, he fought because he was distracted after rejection.

"Not only this, today's morning I got a news that this lone wolf was found crying because you hurt her. What was her name....ah! Cindy Peige. It's atrocious, Ryder! How could you do that? That poor girl was in hysterics because of you and I couldn't believe you could do something like that. I had wanted to talk to you. And then I come to here to see this..."

Alpha shook his head. "I am highly surprised and my expectations have been crashed. I am sad to inform you this but I think you have anger issues, Ryder. I think we called you back too soon. I as an Alpha, orders Ryder Landon to go back to Alaska, where he came from till he's called back."
