《The Best Man ✔》Chapter XXVI

Friday Pt I

What seemed like hours of endless driving still trapped in the trunk, I felt the car come to a stop and my body cringed at the thought that I might be at my murder scene where they'll execute me and dump my body somewhere in the woods, making sure that I'd never be found again. The sound of the trunk opening made my whole body shudder in fear as I felt my body forced out and the bag covering my head ripped off. My eyes squirmed shut from the excruciating bright light from the sun only to finally peel them open to see Kevin and Nathan grinning sadistically at me.

“The fuck?”, I mumbled against the duct tape before Nathan peeled it off and untied both my hands and feet. That's when I noticed we were in the parking lot of the Eastrand resort.

“Welcome to your bachelor weekend MF”, Kevin threw his hands up, gesturing in surprise and I massaged my wrists where I was tied up, starting to bruise a little

“What the fuck is the matter with you two?”, I snapped at the both of them, and they blinked repeatedly at my tone

“I nearly shit my pants in there thinking I was going to die”, I spat, and they exchanged looks, stunned in silence and I drew a deep breath. “Couldn't you come up with another way to get me here than to fucking kidnap me?”

“We thought of other ways, yeah”, they both said simultaneously as they shrugged their shoulders, striking a thinking pose. “But this was the best one to come up with, without you suspecting anything though”

“We also had to do this because that feeling you felt in there, trapped in that trunk is the feeling you going to feel for the rest of your life if you do get married to Mellisa, so we were simply giving you a taste of what your future looks like because that's what real friends do, right Nate?”, Kevin tapped Nathan on his arm

“Totally”, Nathan nodded in agreement. “You should be thanking us actually”

“Well thank you for almost giving me a heart attack and killing me guys, I really appreciate it”, I said sarcastically while placing both my hands on my waist

“However, I must say though-”, my lips turned up in an amused grin. “You kidnapping me like that was fucking genius”, I shoulder bumping the both of them. I was really impressed.

“The whole masked attire, the robbing me, threatening me with a fake gun; it was hella hectic. I was genuinely convinced that I saw my life flash in front of my eyes for a second there”

They exchanged looks and started laughing at me, finding what I just said somehow hilarious

“What?”, I asked confused, and they continued laughing

“You think the gun was fake?”, Nathan quirked up an eyebrow and I nodded my head

“No, the gun is real my G. I don't walk around with fake guns”, Kevin said confidently while pulling his pants up and my jaw dropped, I didn't even know he owned a gun

“You pointed at me with a real gun?”, I prompted, and he nodded his head while they both pulled me towards the entrance

“Relax”, Nathan playfully messed up my hair before wrapping his arm around my shoulder. “It's not like it was loaded”

Kevin cleared his throat suspiciously and we both looked at him, frowning in response to his behavior

“It wasn't loaded, right Kev?”, we both asked him, and he started whistling, looking around to avoid making eye contact with us

“No it wasn't”, he shrugged his shoulders and one of his eyes twitched, that's how I knew he was lying every time

“Kevin!”

“Okay fine”, he sighed aloud. “It was loaded with like maybe one or two bullets so that I could shoot you in the leg or something if you refused to cooperate”

“What?!”

“Kidding but not kidding”, he laughed from the look on our faces while walking backwards into the entrance. “the gun was loaded through”

“You're one twisted son of a gun, Kevin. I hope you rot in hell”, I pointed a finger at him and he laughed.

“Where's Liv?”, I asked when I realized there was no sign of her anywhere

“Probably went to a spar treatment or something, it's all they talked about when we met this morning”, Kevin said as we passed by the reception

“Who's they?”, my eyebrows furrowed in confusion. I only thought it would be just the four of us, I didn't think other people were coming to join us.

“Didn't I tell you? Your sister is also joining us for the weekend”

“What is she doing here? She's supposed to be with the bridal party”

“And be bored to death stuck all weekend with Mellissa's snobbish friends? I think not”, Jessica's said behind us, and we turned to see her and Olivia walking towards us.

“Jess, you promised you'll at least try to get along with them for my sake”, it was no secret that she didn't like Mellisa or her friends and she only agreed to be one of the bridesmaids because I asked her to

“Mellisa seemed to understand why I couldn't join them when I went to fetch your clothes this morning”, she flicked her hair to the side before pulling Liv next to her. “besides Olivia needed me here in order to keep you three into check”

The guys groaned in union because Jess was good at mothering us because she was older than we were, meaning that we couldn't be irresponsible as we wanted to

“Relax guys”, she laughed. “I'm not here to baby you, you're all grown and can do what you want. I'm also here to have fun for a change”

“Well that's great”, Kevin grinned while rubbing his hands enthusiastically. “The last thing we need this weekend is a babysitter”

“Here are your room keys you guys”, Olivia gave each of us sets of keys and there seemed to be some sort of tension between her and Nathan as she held onto his hand after giving him his keys

“I'll unload our bags from the car”, Nathan cleared his throat, gently pulling his hand away from hers and walked past her

“I think I'm just gonna to go with him”, Kevin quickly jogged to Nathan's pace and caught up with him. I could see the look of disappointment on Olivia's face as she watched Nathan walk away but quickly regained a smile on her face when she noticed we were looking at her.

“I need to quickly send out a few work e-mails, so I'll be in my room if y'all need anything”, she smiled politely and we both nodded our heads at her before she walked away from us. I turned to look at Jess.

“On a serious note, what are you doing here?”, I rolled my eyes while walking up the stairs to search for my room, and she was walking besides me

“What do you think I'm doing here?”, she folded her arms. “You're about to make the biggest mistake of your life by marrying that woman, Tristan and I can't just sit at the sidelines and watch you throw your life away”

Here we go again....

“Why is it so hard for you to understand that I want to spend the rest of my life with Mellisa?”

“She's just using you as a punching bag, and you're letting her”

“She's not using me as a punching bag. We're in a committed relationship, and it's normal for couples to sometimes argue”, I turned the key in the lock of my door and walked inside.

“Tristan, Mellisa is incapable of loving you the way you love her. She's a fucking narcissist”

“I'm tired of having this conversation, Jess. I need you to accept that Mellisa and I are getting married and there's nothing you can do or say to make me change my mind. Would it kill you to be happy for me?”

“Tristan”, she took my hands in hers. “You're my little brother and I love you dearly. I'd do anything in my power to see you happy, and I can tell you right now that you're not happy at all, please get out of this while you still can”

“Please stop”

“Okay, okay fine”, she drew a breath. “Just please use this weekend away to really reflect on whether this is really what you want to do, that's all I'm asking”, her eyes started glowing with tears, and she looked up, careful not to ruin her make-up.

“I'm going to be okay, Jess”, I embraced her in a hug to stop her from crying

“I always am”

“So what does one wear to a miniature golf game exactly?”, Jess asked while glancing at the pile of clothes she laid on the bed. I was in her room to help her choose something to wear at the game that afternoon. There were so many outfits she could choose from, but couldn't make a decision.

“Anything casual and comfortable, I guess”, I folded my legs, sitting uncomfortably on the bed because all her clothes had taken so much space, I was literally sitting with one butt cheek because I knew if I even came near her clothes, close enough to cease them I'd never hear the end of it

“Is this okay?”, she placed a short stylish floral jumpsuit on her to see how it would look like while parading a little and I shook my head no

“It's just a game, not a cocktail party Jess”, I pointed out, and she rolled her eyes a little

“Just because it's just a game doesn't mean I don't have to look good”, she tossed it back on the bed and looked for another outfit to compare to. She may have gone overboard a little on the packing for the weekend because she legit bought two suitcases with her. Two!

When I asked her why so much luggage, she was like; there's an outfit for every occasion, and she wasn't lazy to change every hour also so I guess it wasn't a problem for her. I mean that's Jess for you, always prepared for anything. I'd always admired her for her confidence, aside from being extremely bossy and a human definition of a migraine, she was actually pretty cool sometimes.

She was beautiful, extremely gorgeous to be honest. Light blue eyes, wavy dark hair and an hour glass figure. For a fashion magazine editor she looked like a model, ever so glamours and classy. She was the typical definition of a girly girl because her hair, nails and make-up were always on point. Her outfits were to absolutely die for.

I secretly envied her life

Besides from all that, Jess was more like a sister to me because I literally grew up in front of her, and she was always there when I needed to talk to someone about girl stuff because she always gave me tangible advice, the kind I would also pass down to my daughters one day

I remember when I got my first period, Jess gave me less tense period/sex talk, which was much better than the one my mother gave me cause my mom ultimately scared the living shit outta me by telling me that I could get pregnant by simply when a boy looks my direction. I knew she was kidding but now that I think about it, that was really unnesesary.

One thing that always struck me about Jess, was her unconditional love for Tristan. She would go out of her way to make sure that nothing bad ever happened to him because she always had his back, so I could tell she wasn't exactly thrilled about this whole wedding thing, even if it means standing up at the ceremony to object to the marraige.

Heck, I even agreed along with her on that one

“Jess, we don't have all day. We agreed on freshening up and meeting in the lobby in an hour”, I breathed out when I saw her hesitate on all the outfits I was picking out for her.

“Jeans Liv?”, she questioned when she saw me mix and match a pair of jeans and a top. I was also wearing simple jeans and a top and I looked fine.

“They look comfortable, you pair this with sneakers; you're good to go”

“Okay fine”, she changed into the outfit I picked out, and I was quite pleased at how good she looked, simple yet trendy. She decides to add a few accessories to add the final touches; shades, rings and that sorta stuff and I legit couldn't argue with her because it was what she wanted. I don't even want to think how long it will take her to get ready when we hit the club tonight.

When we finally got to the lobby, Kevin and Tristan were still sipping on some pre-drinks while they waited for us

“About freaking time”, Kevin complained when we reached where they were sitting. “We've been waiting on you for 30 minutes”

“Women are allowed to be fashionably late, Kevin”, Jess pointed out before stealing Tristan's drink, and he whined in response

“Where's Nathan?”, I curiously asked when I didn't see him anywhere, a part of me fearing that he might have changed his mind and decided to go back home because of what was happening between us. The tension, phew!

“I accidentally knocked his drink over and spilled it on his shirt, so he went to his room to change, but it's been more than 15 minutes”, Tristan shrugged his shoulders

“I think someone should go check on him to make sure he didn't pass out in his room or something”, Kevin suggested, and we all exchanged looks

“Why don't we just call him?”, I suggested and Tristan revealed Nathan's phone that was right next to him, meaning that he left it behind

“Okay, who's going to check on him?”, I asked, and they all seemed to hesitate

“I have to ask about the guide accompanying us to the golf course, so count me out”, Jessica stood to her feet to go inquire at the reception, leaving the three of us with questioning looks towards each other

“It's my bachelor weekend so, no”, Tristan backed out and Kevin and I looked at each other, with him putting up his fisted hand

“Rock, paper, scissors?”, he suggested while grinning, and I laughed, also putting my up fisted hand out to accept his challenge

“Rock, paper-”, we both said simultaneously while moving our fist up and down

“-scissors”, he pulled out scissors and I pulled out paper. He laughed while cutting through my hand and I huffed out a sigh while standing to my feet.

“Fine, I'll go”, I started walking to the rooms I couldn't ignore the sinking feeling in the bit of my stomach because I was really nervous. I knew things had changed and were a lot tenser than before. I didn't even know what to expect from him because when I saw him for the first time today after telling me how he felt, I thought he wouldn't even want to look at me, but he wasn't showing any signs of being mad at me or anything, in fact he seemed really happy to see me... I was just as confused to as why he wasn't acting up.

Had me thinking, what is wrong with this man?

I knocked twice on Nathan's door as soon as I reached it and the door pulled open seconds later, and he didn't look surprised to see me, almost like he was expecting me to show up

“Liv”, he folded his arms across his bare chest and I got distracted for a second before finally collecting my thoughts to focus on the main reason why I came here in the first place

“I'm just here to tell you we're waiting on you in the lobby”, I stuttered, trying to sound confident whilst I was not because I couldn't stop myself from drooling from the sight of him

“Do you want to come in?”, he asked, and I was still hesitant of whether to say yes or no, standing there looking like I was experiencing an electric shock in my brain. I felt him pull me inside and closed the door behind me

“I'm almost done”, he walked over to the bed to put a golf shirt on.

“Cool, cool”, I mumbled with staring down on my hands like they suddenly the most interesting thing in the world, and he turned to look at me

“Are you okay?”, he quirked up an eyebrow. “You look nervous”

“Not nervous at all”, I coughed out. “Why would I be nervous?”

“You look a little pale and shaky”, he walked towards me and ran his hands down my arms

“Do you want me to take the edge off?”, a wry smile appeared on his face, his eyes travelling up and down my body and I couldn't tell whether he was serious or playing, so I just laughed it off while giving him a gentle pat on his shoulder

“I didn't come here for that”

“Are you sure?”, he quirked up an eyebrow again, and I nodded my head

“Why? Don't I look certain enough?”, I breathed out a laugh and his eyes landed sharply on mine.

“I can hear your heart pounding in your chest all the way from here”, he moved closer to me, “that's how I can tell that you're nervous and indecisive whether you want me or not”,

“Uh”, I started backing away from him, but he kept walking closer and closer until I was pressed against the door. I nearly choked on my own saliva trying to gulp the urge to resist him.

“I can read you, Bella”, his hand drifted down my waist, lifting one of my legs up to wrap around his torso while further pressing and pushing me up against the door. My mouth opened agape to let more air into my lungs because his gaze and him being this close to me was surely sucking the life out of me.

“You're breathing heavily....”, he stated, trailing his thumb over my bottom lip and my eyes widened, stating to lurk around in realization that I actually was.

“You know if you were here for that, I would start hovering all over you, kissing you from your neck, all the way down to your inner thighs, moving my tounge around in circles right there where you need me the most...”, his voice was a little rough and alluring as he kept whispering, his minty breath fanning my face at proximity, I felt I would pass out at any given second. He bought his face up to look at me, only to see his lips turning up in a sly, side smile before leaning to whisper in my ear again, and I bit hard on my lip.

“Your whole body will start to quiver because you know you're close, and then you'll grab my hand and start squeezing it hard until you stop....but that wouldn't stop me, not until I see you grabbing a fist full of the sheets, screaming out my name in pleasure while I have my way with you; over and over and over again until you start pushing me off because you can't take me physically pleasing you any longer”, he slipped his hand underneath my top and my breath started quickening, goosebumps spreading rapidly on my skin when he began softly caressing my breast, gently pinching my hardening nipple while tilting his head to the side, leaning in to my height

I closed my eyes and I felt him blow air into my mouth and I grasped softly, still waiting to feel his lips against mine but instead he pulled his weight off me abruptly, creating a noticeable distance between us and I looked at him all confused to why he stopped in the middle of nowhere, no warning, nothing

“Too bad you didn't come here for that, right?”, a smirk appeared on his face and I blinked in shock while staring at him. I was mesmerized by the hold his eyes kept me under, I even forgot to breath, wanting nothing than to experience the words that escaped from his lips that very second.

“I know it's disappointing, and I don't blame you though. I can imagine how disappointing it is to desperately want something with every fiber of your body only to be left hanging”, he added, and I scoffed mockingly from the realisation that he was just teasing me to prove a point, testing my sexual patience.

“We can go”, he brushed his body against mine, walking past me and opened the door, gesturing that I can go first, and I wasn't sure I had the strength to walk myself out because my knee caps felt suddenly numb, my mind racing with thoughts

Is that why he invited me in? So that he could weaken me like this only to leave me wanting for more? That was his way of payback?

Wow.
