《The Dragon King's Servant》Chapter Fifteen: Uncertainty

Lucian flew high above the sky and the clouds as he crossed the city. The air above smelt fresh and crisp. The city looked far smaller from up above, as though he were looking at a replication of the city. He circled the inn at the edge of the city once to make sure no one was sitting idly by. Flying downward in steady circles, he landed on the cement and walked towards the room.

Knocking on the door, it opened and Marvin stood inside looking startled and less dressed than Lucian would've guessed. Lucian peeked over Marvin's shoulder and saw Heather, tucked under the covers.

"I think I will come back in a while. You two have fun." Lucian chuckled.

"W-wait my lord. We-" Marvin tried to say but Lucian closed the door on him before he could finish his sentence.

By the time Kelly arrived, Melanie had written almost three full pages in her journal. Half of which were questions and the rest was all rambling that she had to get down or else her mind would start melting. Kelly didn't bother knocking since she had a spare key.

"Mel?" She shouted, walking into the house and laying her purse on the floor.

"Up stairs!" Melanie replied.

Kelly walked up the two sets of stairs and into her attic bedroom where she found her best friend looking over three black books.

"Melanie? What happened?"

"I think you'll want to sit for this one Kel."

Kelly sat down next to Melanie who handed her the first book in the submissive series along with the paper that Lucian had written on. Kelly looked at her with a puzzled expression.

"Okay Mel, I need some subtitles here hun. What am I looking at?"

"Open the inside cover."

She opened the inside cover and found the three lettered initials. Then she looked at the writing on the paper, then back at the book and once more at the paper before looking at Melanie with a befuddled expression.

"Yep. My thoughts exactly."

"No. Thats...no way." Kelly said.

"Oh, I thought so too. But I put him through like, three different tests. It's him."

"Holy shit!" Kelly shouted excitedly. "You just happened to meet the guy who wrote your kinky bible?"

"I did. I don't know how it's possible but I did." Melanie chuckled. "It gets stranger than that too."

"Wait, hold on-" Kelly glanced around the room as though she had just realized where she was. "-was he here? With you? Alone?"

"Yeah? Why?"

"What did you do?" Kelly asked, eyebrow arched high. "You did it! Didn't you?"

"No Kelly, I didn't. He didn't even hint at it."

"What? What sort of dominant doesn't at least tease a cute girl like you?"

"Well, I sorta...kinda-"

"Oh dear lord, you didn't back down again did you?" Kelly asked.

"No I didn't. He wants me to go away with him." Melanie sighed. "I told him I needed time to think about it."

"Hold up. Go where? Why?" Kelly asked.

"Kelly, he is...ummm...how do I say this-"

"Does he live out of state?" Kelly interrupted. "He does have a slight accent, is he from somewhere else across the country?"

"Kelly, he is...he..."

"Oh c'mon, out with it already."

"He isn't even from this world." Melanie said.

Kelly went silent for a long moment before she burst out in laughter. Melanie blushed feeling a little embarrassed but she knew Kelly wouldn't believe that. Even she had a hard time believing it. Something about Lucian made her believe him though. Kelly wiped away her tears and took a long deep breath.

"Okay, I needed that." Kelly chuckled. "But really, where us he from?"

"He said he has three days before he has to return home. Which is beyond some sort of portal."

"A portal?" Kelly asked. "You sure he didn't say a port?"

"Kelly, I..."

"Let's go meet him. I mean really! Who asks a girl he just met to leave her home and disappear with him?" Kelly asked, frustrated and annoyed.

"Kelly? Wouldn't you do it?" Melanie asked.

"Well, I mean...yeah sure. I would, but I don't have family or anything so it's different."

Melanie nodded her head slowly and then she jumped up off the bed and latched onto her friend's shoulder, stunning her in surprise.

"Come with me!" Melanie shouted excitedly. "If I go with him. Do you want to come too?"

"What?" Kelly asked. "Mel, I can't just leave my dead end job and no boy friend to go run away with a hot ass guy."

"Oh...I just thought-"

"Of course I'd come with you!" Kelly shouted excitedly. "Its been too long since I did anything fun like that. But seriously! Where does he live?"

"Kelly. I'm not lying. He isn't from here."

"You mean...like an alien?"

"I don't know about an alien but he said he isn't from this world." Melanie replied.

"Are you sure he isn't some really hot guy who escaped the asylum?"

"Geez Kelly." Melanie shoved her friend with a giggle and then she looked around her room.

"Are you really thinking of leaving with him?" Kelly asked.

"Honestly, I kind of am. Truth be told-" Melanie looked at the three black books on her bed and sighed. "-I am tired of hiding my life from everyone. I know my family would not understand and I don't have any friends outside of you. I guess, I feel ready to be me."

Kelly leaned in and hugged Melanie.

"My little kinky girl is all grown up." Kelly sniffled.

Melanie smiled and returned Kelly's hug before she pulled away and snatched up her phone.

"I totally forgot to call Brandi." She dialed out and waited for Brandi to answer.

"KCC, Brandi speaking how may I-"

"Hey it's Melanie."

"Oh! Hi!" Brandi shouted happily. "Did you find him? Tell me you did."

"She found him alright." Kelly replied.

Brandi screeched excitedly causing both Kelly and Melanie to pull away from the phone.

"So? What happened?" Brandi asked.

"Nothing yet honestly. Actually can we meet you there?" Melanie replied.

"Sure. I have to warn you though. Its masochistic Monday so be prepared for some...interesting people." Brandi said.

"No worries. We will be there by two."

"Sweet. See you in a couple hours." Brandi hung up the phone.

"Where is he staying?" Kelly asked.

"He is at the Roxy Inn."

"Good. Let's go get him and bring him to KCC. I want to meet him. Really meet him." Kelly said as she got up.

Lucian walked down the sidewalk as he made his way to the main street where vehicles were lined up along the side of the road. People walked the sidewalk carrying fabric bags filled with items they had purchased along their shopping trip. What caught his eye as he looked at the stores along the street, was a building filled with books.

He pushed open the door and walked in. The establishment had shallow carpeting with rows of shelves, all offset from one another making it appear as though it was a maze of books. Soft instrumental music played over the speakers giving a positive sensation to the quiet atmosphere of the book store.

"Hello. Welcome into...oh no!" The young female book store worker shouted as she stumbled. The ten books she carried in her meek arms were sent scattered into the air. Lucian, alert and quick on his feet, caught each book as though they were suspended in mid-air. Stacking them one on top of the other, he set them on the ground and assisted the fallen female to her feet.
