《The Dragon King's Servant》Chapter Fourteen: The Signature

Melanie waited anxiously for him to say something. She watched as he closed the journal and smiled. It was the comforting kind of smile, that one that told her it was him and not just her that was looking for reassurance.

"What do you think?" She asked, unconsciously gripping the edges of her pillow.

"I think...you are perfect." He said in a deep voice filled with emotion. "I could not have imagined someone so wonderfully submissive."

"Y-you really mean that?" She asked.

"I do. I promise you this-" he handed the journal back to her. "-I promise, I shall always be honest. I promise that I will always be kind and caring. For a-"

"-compassionate master, is a true and deserving master." Melanie spoke the line with him. They looked to one another with an expression of surprise and confusion. Before either of them could say anything, Melanie hurried over to her dresser and pulled out the first book under the false bottom drawer.

She looked at the book and opened the first page, printed on the inside cover was a hand written signature. Three letters that had been written in a flourishing style. 'LKD'.

"How did you know that quote?" He asked.

"How did you know it?" She asked in return.

"Because that is my quote. I wrote it." He replied.

Melanie looked from the black book to him and narrowed her eyes in suspicion. 'There is no way that he wrote this series' she thought to herself.

"What is your full name?" She asked.

"Lucian Knight Drakko." He answered.

"Can you write it down? Like do a signature?" She handed him a piece of paper and pen.

He arched his brow but accepted the paper and pen. He wrote his name in plain script, then in a flowing style before handing it back to her. Melanie took the paper and looked at the first letters of each name. The style of the letters was not just a resemblance, it was a perfect match.

"D-did you write these?" She asked, handing the book to him.

Lucian took the book and flipped through it. Immediately he recognized the writing and the feel of the book. He looked from the book and back to her.

"Where did you get these?" He asked.

"I found them a few years ago. They showed up in a box of mine. Not really sure where but they sort of just-"

"-appeared?" He asked. "Probably around five years ago?"

"Yeah actually. How'd you know?"

"Because five years ago they disappeared from my collection. I wrote them twenty years ago."

Melanie looked at him wide eyed and shocked. She stumbled slightly to the bed and sat down. 'I had always assumed that the books had been written by a woman' she thought to herself.

"Have you ever heard of how something that is supposed to happen, will happen? We don't know when or how, but fate will make it happen."

"Y-Yeah, I have. I've heard of stuff like that. Y...you think that I was destined to become yours?" She asked.

"I do." He leaned in. "For so long I have been searching for the ideal submissive and you...are it."

Melanie swallowed hard and glanced at the books. The same books that had been her sacred pages for which she lived her life by, had been written by the man who she just happened to meet at an event that she had never been to before. She rarely believed that coincidences were just that.

Things were meant. Everything had a meaning, she believed that firmly. When things lined up, the way that they had, it was too much of a coincidence. She set the book down and picked up book three from the drawer.

"What is the last thing written in this book? What is the last chapter about?" She asked.

Lucian looked at the book and smirked.

"Do you want it line for line or summed up?" He asked.

"The short version is fine." She nodded. 'If he can tell me this. I'll know for sure he isn't lying about all of this. That he isn't somehow just pulling it out from his ass or something.'

"Chapter fifty of book three, once a submissive is sure that they can fully trust their dominant and their dominant has proven themself to be worthy of the submissive's trust, loyalty and submission, may the submissive dedicate themselves to the dominant." He explained. "The process of ownership is a sacred and private affair that requires three things. A collar, a lock and a key."

Melanie dropped the book back in the drawer and slumped to the bed.

"I can't believe it." She whispered. "I looked for this series online and at every book store. I never found out where the books came from and I always wondered why. Now I know." She looked up at him. "Its like, all these years, I have been training myself to be your slave. To be yours and yours alone." She smiled.

"Would you like to be mine?" He asked.

"More than anything in the entire world. Yes." She said in an almost desperate tone.

"Then I think we need to pack up your things." He smiled.

"Pack up...my...things?" She asked.

"If you wish to be mine, you'll have to come back with me." Lucian reached out and touched his hand against her cheek. "I only have three more days left."

"Why? What happens in three days?" She asked.

"Remember that portal I mentioned?"

Melanie nodded slowly.

"Well it closes in three days and I have to return home, to my kingdom. I want you to come with me."

Melanie furrowed her brows and glanced around her room before looking back at him.

"Can I have time to think this over?" She asked.

"Of course. There is a great amount of things you don't know about me, nor do I know a great deal about you. I understand that asking you to leave all you know is no small task." He stood up slowly and looked down at her. "I will come back tomorrow. If that is alright?"

"Yes, thank you. Can you be here around ten? My parents and siblings will be gone." She replied.

"Then I bid you Farwell until then." He bowed and slowly made his way out of the room and down the stairs, leaving Melanie alone with her thoughts that began crowding her mind once again. She reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone.

There was only one person who she could talk to about this. Only one person who could understand it.

She dialed out and waited for the third dial tone before the phone was answered.

"Kelly? Can you come over?"

"Is everything okay?" Kelly asked, stress in her voice.

"Yeah it's all good, I just need to-"

"I'll be right over. No worries." Kelly hung up the phone. Melanie glanced over at her journal and began writing. She had too many thoughts spinning through her mind like a tornado. With each interval, the thoughts spun faster. She needed to wite it all down.

To put all her questions and concerns out in physical form.

'What would I do if I left? Do I leave all of them behind? Can I leave all of this behind? How do I tell them? Do I trust him? I barely know Lucian and yet...I feel like I know him better than I know my own family.' Melanie wrote every question down as she waited for Kelly to arrive.
