《Married But Single》Chapter 19

Their marriage had been annulled.

David had had his mind made up.

She had tried several times to reason with him, but he wouldn't even see her.

She had called and sent various text messages, but he had replied none and had later blocked her.

The only day she had seen him up close again was the day she finally agreed to sign the divorce papers after a month, to set him free as he wanted.

She had also put in a word to his father that it was her fault that the contract was broken. And that he should still retain his son as the company's President.

David's mother was joyous at the turn of events.

Dominic had been trying to reach her but she had blocked him from reaching her.

She had rejected the apartment David had given to her, as well as all the money he had ordered be given to her.

After she was thrown out of the house, Lydia following her, they both went back to their family home and from there she had tried all to no avail to reach out to him.

Her mother who had arrived some weeks back had been more than angry. She had threatened to do something rash if Annabelle failed to get David back.

And she failed.

Her fingers shook as she signed her marriage away. Tears filled her eyes but she refused to let them spill. Who would comfort her anyway? She had never felt so alone in her life.

Even while the signing was going on, he never looked at her even once. And once the signing was over, he abruptly left the place like he couldn't bear to be in the same place with her.

It was over.

She slowly walked back home dreading what awaited her there and also encouraged herself to be strong for whatever might lie ahead as she placed her hand on her still flat stomach.

She couldn't even bear to tell him that she was carrying his child.

She was eight weeks pregnant and nobody but her and the doctor knew about the pregnancy.

"...I said you should pack your things and get out of this house now!" Monalisa snapped loudly.

Annabelle stood staring at her mother, wondering whether the woman had really given birth to her.

"From today onwards, I disown you as my daughter." Monalisa continued. "I never want you to come back here again!"

"Mum, don't you think that's going a bit too far?" Lydia said nonchalantly, not taking her eyes away from her iPad.

"She deserves it! After everything your father and even I have done for you, this is how you repay me? Out!"

Two medium sized suitcases followed her out of the house that night.

She walked on the streets like a walking dead with no idea where she was going.

Tears blurred her eyes as she feared for her unborn child's future. How would she care for herself during this phase of her pregnancy and raise the baby when it's born?

She had lost everything.

Luckily for her, she still had some money of her own in her account so she got a room in a very cheap guest inn where she could stay for three nights with the cockroaches and bugs as her companions until she could get a small place she could afford.

She sat on the bed wondering what her life had turned into within the space of almost eight months.

Her marriage, her pregnancy, her divorce, her losing everything including her own family, all seemed like a nightmare to her.

She had even grown to love him. And she was sure that he had felt something for her too. Then this had to happen.

She cried for the umpteenth time that night as she thought of how much her life would change from that moment.

The baby in her womb was the only one she had now in the entire world.

💔❤️💔

The next day, she awoke early as she set out to look for a place she could stay.

She walked around town checking different apartments but the ones she saw were all too expensive and too high for her budget.

She had forgotten that the town she had grew up in was an expensive one so she had to go to the suburbs or the outskirts of the town to get a place she could afford.

She came to the end of that day unsuccessful at getting a rented house she could afford to stay in.

As she lay in bed that night, she wearily thought of what to do.

She contemplated telling David about the pregnancy. After all, the baby was his and he deserved to know. He had to believe her because her pregnancy was eight weeks old, a bit long before he saw her in bed with Dominic.

She squeezed her eyes shut in pain as she relieved that dreadful day that changed her life forever.

She didn't even know why she was blaming Dominic when everything was her fault.

She would tell David about the pregnancy. She would look for a way to see him even though it was going to be hard.

She tried the next day and the next but she was denied access to see him both in his penthouse apartment and the office. She heard he had taken most of his clothes from their home back to his luxurious bachelor apartment in the center of town.

On the two occasions she had been to the office amidst gossips behind her back whenever she came, she had seen Katherine from afar but had quickly turned and left before the lady could see her as she had not been picking her calls. She didn't know what to say to her.

David had bluntly refused to see her.

She paid for an extra night since she hadn't gotten a place yet and still decided to try David's apartment once more. This time she decided she would wait at the gate so she would get him when he's returning from work.

She remembered the penthouse building so well and she stood staring at it for a moment before she found a place beside the gate to sit.

She waited for hours for his return but he didn't show up until at about 9pm when she was already about to leave.

His car pulled up by the gate and the front lights shone directly at her face while she sharply stood up and took a step forward in front of the car.

The door opened and a toned female leg stepped out before she uncoiled out of the car into the daughter of Jezebel who was none other than Chanel.

No.

The lady sashayed towards her with a triumphant smile on her face.

"We have no money to give to you, beggar, so if you would please leave our way, my boyfriend and I would like to go in now."

So soon, David?

She gazed directly at the spot he was sitting, sure that he could see her even though she couldn't see him as a result of the dark tinted windows of the car.

"Hello beggar, are you listening to me?" Chanel mocked. "Or should a more fitting name be 'whore'? 'Cheater'?" She laughed. "I told you, in every war, I always win."

At that moment, she swiftly walked over to David's side of the car and yanked the door open.

Anger filled his eyes when he stared at her that she almost backed down but still stood her ground.

"I need to talk to you. Please." She said pleadingly.

Chanel got into the car again from the other side and glared at her. "Ignore her babe, let's go."

He looked at her for a few more seconds then sharply got out of the car, grabbed her arm and harshly led her away from the car and the building , then released her arm with so much force that she almost fell if not for the nearby tree that she held for support.

"This should be the last time I see you anywhere near me or my property." He uttered savagely. "Get out and never come back!"

Then he turned and left her, while a flood of tears gushed down her cheeks as she watched the love of her life walk away from her.
