《Loving Mr. Cavalier》Chapter 11-"Keep the Distance"

Narrator-

For the remainder of the trip, Liliana fell into the routine of checking into Mr. Cavalier, and receiving simple hums for responses. Lili had to admit that his behavior was irking her, but she didn't dare speak up to him, not after what occurred between them. Her goal from here on out was to be as invisible as possible when it came to Mr. Cavalier. His behavior so far showed that he would respect the terms of their agreement, and Lili wanted to believe that that's what she wanted him to do.

Keep his distance.

When alone, Liliana couldn't help but feel slightly ashamed that she gave into her feelings and allowed him to touch her. Yet at the memory of his hand sneaking under her skirt, Lili found herself thinking of how she would've felt had his hand traveled just a little bit higher. She could only imagine his finger inching closer to the one place... but before her mind could create that imagery, Lili shook it out of her head.

"Alrighty folks, we are getting ready to land, please fasten your seatbelts." Paul's voice came over the overhead just as Liliana finished checking in on Mr. Cavalier.

As the plane began to descend, it shook from side to side with slight turbulence, which caused Liliana's heart to drop to the lowest pit in her stomach. Her fingers gripped the chair, as she closed her eyes tightly. She tried to control her breathing, but it wasn't doing much good when her heart felt as though it was ready to jump out of her chest. Lili's lips held onto a quiet prayer until the plane was running on the tarmac, and she didn't release a relieved sigh until the plane slowed to a complete stop.

Liliana let out a sharp breath and smiled, then she unbuckled herself, and headed straight to Mr. Cavalier.

"Mr. Cavalier, I hope that this trip was pleasant enough." Liliana spoke up with a practiced smile, as she took her usual stance with clasping her hands before her.

"Yes." He simply stated, as he packed up his laptop, and Lili almost forgot that when it came to her, Mr. Cavalier had little to no manners, and she found herself standing still as a statue as if waiting for him to say 'thank you'. When she realized that he didn't plan on saying anything more, Liliana turned away and headed to open the door.

The moment she walked away, Frantz smirked, enjoying the fact that he was getting under her skin, and she didn't bother hiding how she truly felt. He loved that she couldn't hide how she truly felt. Every emotion Lili felt, Frantz knew about it, and he loved it. It meant that he could read her like an open book.

Frantz felt the need to push every button she had. He wanted to Liliana to want to run away from him, except, while she wanted to that, he would make it so she could never get away from him. He would make sure that everywhere she went, he would be there.

Starting now.

Frantz grabbed onto his briefcase, then made his way to the door. As he got closer, he over heard Liliana mutter under her breath as she struggled to open the door lock. He could tell she was frustrated, but he knew that there was more of that to come.

Frantz smiled as he realized that he could use the unintended stall to his advantage. Taking a breath, he approached her.

Liliana froze the moment she felt the heat of Mr. Cavalier's body on her back. She noticed his shadow tower over her body, and that caused mountains of goosebumps to rise over her skin.

Liliana felt a shallow breath escape her dry throat and slightly parted lips.

"Need some help with that?" Mr. Cavalier spoke out, but his voice, so low, the baritone that erupted from his chest and vocal chords melted Liliana's resolve to be strong.

Gulping, Liliana let out a short breath as she said "no, I got it."

Frantz took in an audible breath, and tightened his jaw as he ran a hand over his chin and mouth. The fact that Liliana was willing to fight him at every turn... it was as aggravating as it was attractive and arousing.

Liliana feeling extremely vulnerable with her back to him, turned around and faced him. She flushed her back against the door, and pursed her lips as she looked into Mr. Cavalier's eyes.

At her actions, Frantz raised an eyebrow and challenged her to a stare down. Lili kept her eyes leveled, but she could feel a blush creep from her chest, up her neck, and onto her cheeks. He didn't blink, neither did she.

Frantz shocked at her bravery, squinted his eyes, and that caused Liliana to finally look away. Mr. Cavalier noticed it when Liliana gulped and he knew that her bravado was just a front.

Frantz took one step forward, and Liliana pushed her back even harder against the door. Her palms felt extremely sweaty, and Lili opened them against the cool metal door. The door she was supposed to open an eternity ago.

Frantz closed the space between their bodies, leaving just enough room for a finger to slip through. He placed his briefcase down, then he leaned in.

Liliana held her breath. For some reason she had forgotten how to talk. Gone was that girl who stood up to him multiple times before, and in her place was a mute who couldn't stop looking between Mr. Cavalier's dark gaze and lips.

Liliana knew she made a mistake kissing him, because now she's worst than before.

Frantz leaned in further, his arm outstretched. His eyes were intense, dark, almost angry. There was tick in his jaw, before he gulped and parted his lips.

Trapped in a daze and following his cue, Lili also parted her lips. She felt Cavalier's lips brush the area between her eyebrows and nose bridge. Liliana closed her eyes, feeling as hot as the sun itself. She gulped once again when Mr. Cavalier released a soft breath. Liliana felt her legs go weak, as she tightened them when she felt an unfamiliar sensation tingle between her legs.

She tightened her wrists, her audible breath shaky, the hot and tense environment buzzing in her ears. Then, in that buzzing silence, as Mr. Cavalier's lips brushed the tip of her nose, she heard the door lock click. In the blink of an eye, Frantz snaked his arms around Liliana's waist, he hoisted her body against his chest, and threw the door open.

Liliana gasped catching herself as she realized what had happened, and the moment she could think clearly, she all but slapped herself away out his arms.

Frantz smirked at her reaction, and raised an eyebrow as he said "what? No thank you for helping you?"

"I didn't need your help." Liliana sneered, as she suddenly felt overwhelmed with anger and a pang of betrayal. Her body... betrayed her mind.

"Right, well I'll be waiting for you in the car." Frantz stated as he headed down the stairs, catching Liliana off guard, and not allotting her enough time to even question his statement.

Confused, angry, and very unsure of how her body felt, Liliana headed back to the sitting area. She ensured that everything was clean and in place, then she passed by the kitchenette and made sure that everything was also in place there. Grabbing her bag, Lili headed to the cockpit and bid the pilots goodbye.

Once Liliana headed to the door to exit the plane, she noticed Mr. Cavalier's car still parked there.

Looking around, Liliana didn't see the driver who picked her and Chamille up during their previous shift. Heck she didn't see a company driver at all. Unsure of what to do, Lili began sifting through the folder which held the details of this trip. She found details on how long Mr. Cavalier would be staying, the hotel's information, and finally the driving agency.

Relieved, Liliana pulled out her phone, only to frown when she realized that her phone wouldn't work in Rome.

Looking around desperate, Liliana didn't notice Frantz roll his window down.

He poked his head out as he said "I told the driver not to come."

"You did what?!" Liliana screeched before she could held herself.

"Yeah sent them a quick email while on board, so I suggest you get in the car." Frantz explained nonchalantly.

"Excuse me? Wh- Mr. Cavalier-"

"Just get in the car." Frantz dismissed knowing quite well she was going to throw a fit and Liliana huffed as she made her way down the stairs.

When she ceded, Frantz smiled victoriously. He was getting used to her already.

Liliana stomped up to the car, and the driver opened the door, though he couldn't hide the small smile playing on his lips.

Liliana slid into the car, fuming as she sat facing the insufferable man. The driver closed the door, and Liliana fixed her glare on the smug looking man who was turning out to be the most annoying and persistent human being she's ever met. In fact, Lili was so aggravated, she was too angry to appreciate just how comfortable the car seats were.

"You had no right." Lili accused in a low tone, supported by an unladylike growl that erupted from her chest with her declaration. But Lili did not care that she sounded like an angry bear, because at the moment she felt like an angry bear. Her head was hot and heavy with anger.

"What? I told the driver he could have the day off. What's the point of having two drivers, if we're both going to the same destination?" Frantz spoke calmly, as he leaned back against the chair, his eyes looking over at Liliana, and he didn't bother to hide his smile.

"You... are the most annoying, persistent, insufferable son of a biscuit I've ever met." Liliana snapped, then frowned as she crossed her arms and looked out the window.

Frantz sighed and looked away for a moment. He knew that he was irritating her, but he just wanted her to give into him. End both of their miseries.

"Alright listen," Frantz spoke up as he sat up and fixed his posture, his business like tone coming through clearer than day, except, Liliana didn't want to hear it.

"Liliana," Frantz called out, but she kept her eyes glued on the passing buildings and people outside.

"Lili," Frantz called out again, as he began feeling frustrated at her actions.

He took in a deep breath, then made a resolution... if she wanted to play, he was going to play.

Frantz scooted up to the edge of his seat, and that earned a reaction. He noticed Lili blink quickly, before she gulped, but she kept her eyes fixed on the outside.

Frantz chuckled softly, though Liliana could feel his frustration growing. Apparently this man didn't like to be ignored.

"Liliana," Frantz called again in a lower tone, almost warning, and Liliana gulped again, a soft sigh exiting her nostrils. She slowly felt the sensation from earlier move about in her lower region, and she knew that tightening her legs would be too obvious to the man facing her, so undoing her arms, she held her skirt as she crossed her legs, but her eyes still remained locked outside the window.

Mr. Cavalier noticed her actions, and could only imagine what her body was feeling. Her face was red, and her breathing had changed pace. Watching Lili react to the tension in the car, it made Frantz very aware of just how close they were, because if he simply reached out, he'd be able to run his hand against her leg.

Seeing this as an opportunity, Frantz did just that.

He ran his index finger along the length of her lower leg, and Liliana gulped, before she released a small gasp.

The energy in the car heated up when Frantz's finger touched passed her knee, and began sliding higher.

Lili felt her heart tremble in her chest, her breathing extremely irregular, her throat drier than cement. She could feel just how hot her face was, her palms were sweaty, and she could tell her armpits were also drowning in sweat.

Frantz kept his eyes on her face, as his hand pushed higher, her skirt moving back and revealing the skin on her upper leg. When Lili felt a cool wind kiss below her thigh, her hand finally fell and clamped over Mr. Cavalier's hand, stopping him before he went further.

Lili was breathing heavily, and it didn't help when Frantz released a low sigh from his nostrils.

Liliana took a chance and snapped her eyes towards Frantz, then she looked away just as quickly.

"I don't like being ignored Liliana." Frantz explained, his eyes heavy on her heated body.

"What do you want from me?" Liliana asked, unable to control just how uneven her voice sounded.

"One night, it's all I'm asking." Frantz admitted, as he began to sound more desperate.

Lili looked down then away. She hated what she was going to say next, but if it was the only way to get him off her back, she would do it.

"Would it change anything if I told you that I am a virgin?" Liliana asked, fixating her eyes on him, though hating that she'd have to reveal this to a man she barely knew.

"Are you?" Mr. Cavalier demanded, and with one shot of bravery, Liliana looked at Frantz square in the eye as she declared "yes, I am."

Blinking, and then nodding, Frantz retracted his hand, and Liliana scurried to pull her skirt down. She could practically die of embarrassment. Liliana was not ashamed to be a virgin at her age, but she sure as heck didn't expect that she'd be revealing it to a man she barely knew, even worse, that man was her boss.

"I see." Frantz hummed quietly, as he leaned back in his seat, and rested his hand on his lips and jaw, his eyes shifting away from Lili who looked ready to pass out from embarrassment.

When the driver halted to a stop in front of the hotel, it was not a moment too soon. Liliana practically jumped out of the car as soon as the door opened. The driver handed her her bag, and with a quick thank you, Lili disappeared into the hotel. When Liliana walked up to the concierge, of course it had to be the blonde girl with the fake smile.

Liliana didn't have time for pleasantries, and all but rushed the girl to give her the card to her room. Surprised at Lili's flushed appearance, the blonde handed her the card, and didn't even have a chance to make a snarky remark. Liliana rushed to the elevators, hoping that Mr. Cavalier wouldn't catch up to her. When the doors closed, Liliana let out a breath of relief.

Frantz on the other hand had no idea what just occurred. Liliana caught him off guard with her declaration, and now he felt like a complete asshole for pushing her. While Frantz had nothing against a woman who has kept her virtue, he felt as though he forced her into these scenarios. Now he felt like a jerk. Had he known she was a virgin, he wouldn't have pushed her as much as he did.

Frantz exited the car, and absentmindedly thanked the driver, which shocked the driver to the core.

"You're welcome Signore Cavalier." The driver replied softly, though the dazed man was already heading into the hotel.

When the blonde noticed Mr. Cavalier heading her way, she perked up, and pushed her chest out, as she greeted with the brightest smile "good evening Mr. Cavalier, how was your flight?"

"Delia." Frantz simply replied as he passed her by and didn't even spare her a glance.

Frowning, Delia looked on as the billionaire passed her by without sparing her a glance. Then she remembered Liliana passing through a few minutes prior. They were both acting rather unusual, and Delia suspected that something may have happened.

The moment Liliana locked her door, she let out a frustrated sob which had clogged in her throat during the elevator ride. 24 and a virgin. She was 24 years old and a virgin. Liliana was damn proud of herself for holding out so long and not giving into the first guy she met, but Frantz's reaction stung her. She knew that he would react that way, that's how they all did.

Every man she ever met who seemed to like her, the moment they found out that she was a virgin, they all ran for the hills. No one wanted to responsibility of being a virgin's first. They were afraid of the attachment that came with it.

Well good riddance to them all.

Liliana wiped her tears away out of frustration. Why the heck was she crying? This is what she wanted. For Mr. Frantz Cavalier to lose complete interest in her. She scared him away, and she would hope that it was for good.

Picking herself up, Liliana made her way to her bedroom, and picked up the phone dialing the one number she knew could cheer her up.

"Lili?" Her mom's voice sounded across the line after a few rings.

"Mom." Liliana chuckled, a new set of tears building up in her eyes.

"Hey baby, how was the flight?" Her mom asked.

"Good." Liliana nodded, as she tried to keep her tears at bay.

If her mom caught wind that she was crying, Liliana wouldn't be able to dodge all the questions.

"Oh that's good. This means that you didn't throw your boss off the airplane?" The mom commented, and Liliana let out a mix of giggles with tears and a bit of snot.

"No mom I didn't throw him off the plane." Liliana replied as she rolled her eyes.

"Hey are you okay? Your voice sounds a little off." The mom noted, and Liliana frowned as she said "yeah, I'm just- a little tired is all. I'm gonna shower and hit the hay. I love you mom."

"I love you too sweetheart." Her mom replied, then before they hung up, Lili called out "mom?"

"Yes?"

"When you waited to give yourself up to dad... it was because you loved him, and he was the one who was willing to wait until you were married... it was worth it right?" Liliana asked, though she felt extremely embarrassed to ask this of her mom.

"It was worth the wait because I was with your father, and he had won my heart. Is there something you want to tell me Lili?" The mom asked carefully.

"No, I was just curious. I gotta go mom, have a good night." Liliana stated softly.

"Stay safe out there kiddo." With those words, Lili ended the call.

She sighed as she placed the phone down, then shaking off her sadness, Liliana headed to the bathroom for a shower. Deep in her heart Liliana wanted to believe that everything had seized between her and Mr. Cavalier. She knew that after what she revealed today, he would keep his distance.

And Liliana told herself over and over that it was exactly what she wanted from him. All she wanted was that he kept his distance. And yet, the idea crushed Liliana's heart.

She knew better than to crush after men with experience... they never wanted a girl who was never ready to get it on. But Liliana figured it was for the best, after all, it was the chase that interested Mr. Cavalier, and now that he was off her tail, he'd be going after the next one.
