《Moonlight ✔︎》Chapter 51

After a forty-minute drive, my body was itching to get out of the car.

As we approached downtown, a slight smile appeared on my lips; it was known for having the best of the greatest foods and stores.

We didn't have much in our small town but one large shopping centre, grocery stores, fast-food restaurants, and the occasional public parks.

You could get to the nice section of our town known as 'downtown,' if you drove a bit further out.

Amazing restaurants and little food stores were strewn over the brightly illuminated streets, and crowds of people were strolling about, either shopping or socialising with friends and family.

Tyson and I come here a few times a year because our parents used to take us here all the time when we were younger, so it holds a particular place in my heart.

Angel pulled up to the kerb of a busy street and found an empty parking spot.

We stepped out of the car and onto the crowded sidewalk.

As we began strolling the illuminated, crowded streets, my face was lit up with a bright smile.

My heart swelled with excitement as I smelled delicious foods and heard the live music in the background.

"What do you want to eat?" I ask, skipping beside him.

"Up to you, bellissima." He says, shrugging.

Translation; Beautiful.

"Pizza it is," I say grinning.

He smirked and shook his head as he took a cigarette from his pocket and lighted it up easily.

I watched him in fascination as his cheekbones define as he inhales the smoke making his cheeks hollow and exhales after a short time.

He caught my eyes and lifted an eyebrow in question and I just smiled and shrugged looking away from his light gaze.

"When did you first start doing that?" I ask, motioning to the cigarette between his lips.

He looked over at me and replied.

"16." He answers and looks away.

I nod my head and continue to gaze around.

Suddenly, someone's shoulder collided with mine, causing me to stumble backwards. Fortunately, Angel caught my arm and stabilised me.

"Watch it, bitch." The guy sneered, walking past me.

When I saw his walking form, I came to a halt and turned around to face him.

As I was about to run up to him and give him a nice slap in the face, Angel had beaten me to it.

Angel's tall figure hovered above him as he grabbed his throat and threw him against the wall.

"Apologise," Angel says darkly, squeezing the man's neck and making him choke.

My eyes widened as I was about to tell Angel it was fine though the man's eyes went to me and Angel's grip tightened impossibly more.

"S-Sorry." He rasped out.

I accept with a nod, hoping Angel will let go.

Angel's jaw ticked as he slammed him against the wall and let go of his trembling body.

Angel went back to the crowded sidewalk and drew his cigarette back between his lips.

I trailed behind him, disappointedly shaking my head at Angel.

"Angel, you didn't have to do that." I state emphatically.

He glances at me before shifting his attention away and exhaling the last of his cigarette smoke.

"I did, bambina." He says coldly.

Translation; Baby.

As my eyes catch sight of the familiar pizza restaurant, I sigh and forget about the minor event.

My hunger overwhelms me, so I grasp Angel's hand and pull us towards the restaurant.

When we arrived, I unlocked the doors and ushered us inside, where we were greeted by the warmth and delicious aroma of pizza.

I practically rushed to the queue that was starting to form because the pizza place was fairly busy.

I tap Angel on the shoulder as I gaze over at him.

I motion for him to lean down while he looks down at me.

"Can we have the pepperoni?" I asked him in his ear, as the pizza shop was buzzing with chatter.

He leans aside after he nods and kisses my cheek.

Angel's arm wrapped around my waist as he drew me closer to him, possessiveness radiating from him.

I shook it off and leaned into his warmth as we made our way up the line, and eventually to the counter.

Angel placed an order for us and paid, despite my protests to let me pay, he ignored me.

We choose a booth near the window with a view of the street below, where people went by and lights from the ceilings illuminated the streets.

Angel took the seat across from me. Even when he was sat down, his tall figure loomed over me and everyone else.

I took the water bottle he bought for me and take a sip as my eyes scan around the room.

Couples, friends and families filled the restaurant happily coursed in conversations and laughter.

"Can I ask you a question?" My eyes drifting across to Angel.

His gaze pierces right through me, causing unneeded tension in my body.

He nods and focuses his full attention on me.

"What would you do if you weren't in the Mafia?"

"Like, career-wise," I explain further on.

He shrugs and instinctively plays with my empty hand on the table, his gaze never leaves mine.

"Car racing." He responds and shifts his gaze from my eyes to my lips and then back to my eyes.

My eyes light up at his answer and I nod agreeing with him.

"I can see you doing that." I say smiling at him.

"Or fighting," I add on.

As he traces patterns onto my open palm with his hooded eyes, he smirks, and my gaze slips away from him as I sense a stare on me.

I take another look around the room, only to be greeted by a group of boys and girls seated in a booth on the opposite side of the room from Angel and me.

My gaze was drawn to one of the boys, who appeared to be staring at me.

He smirked at me and gave me a wink as he studied my whole figure.

Erm, ew.

I turn away from him, a displeased grimace on my face.

Suddenly, I hear a deep chuckle from across me, and my gaze is drawn to an amused Angel.

"Come," Angel demands, his head drooping towards the seat beside him.

Furrowing my brows, I rise from my seat and take a seat next to him.

As he gently grasps my chin and tilts my head up to meet his, my focus shifts to him.

His soft plush lips hover above mine then he smashes them against my lips.

His kiss was intense and deep, his warm tongue plunged into my mouth, eliciting a small moan from my lips.

My hands wrap around his neck, and I lean in closer to intensify the kiss.

Our tongues explored every inch and taste of our mouths, sending a rush of sensuous pleasure through my veins.

As he pulls away his cool breath touches my neck, he pulls me closer to him, placing his lips above my ear.

"Vedremo se quella merda ti vuole fare l'occhiolino adesso." He whispers huskily into my ear, and even though I have no idea what he said, it made my panties pool in lust.

Translation; We'll see if that little shít wants to wink at you now.

Get a grip, Daisy.

Angel pulls away and tucks his bottom lip into his mouth while keeping his arm around my waist.

As a waiter approaches us with our deliciously good-looking pizzas, my mind returns to reality.

He sets it on the table and tells us to enjoy.

My hands stretches out to take a piece of the gracious pizza, and I lift it towards Angel's lips with a happy grin.

"You better eat with me." I say sharply, as I motion for him to open his mouth.

He rolls his eyes and takes a bite of the pizza.

I smile as I lift the pizza to my lips, savouring the delectable greasy food.

We continued to eat for the rest of the time, and I rambled on to Angel about meaningless topics while he listened intently.

We finished all of the pizza not long ago. We now sat silently as I leant against Angel's side, exhaustion running through my body.

Angel's fingers ran through my hair and began to play with it while I closed my eyes lazily.

His lips pressed against my cheek, causing a flush to appear on my cheeks.

Shivers ran through my veins as his lips continued to kiss me from my cheek to my neck.

My body was reawakened by his touch, and I opened my eyes.

Angel pulls back after lingering his lips along the side of my neck.

I abruptly rose from my seat and extended my hands to him, who took them and rose from his seat, towering over my small figure.

As we began going towards the exit, I smiled as I waved farewell to the nice pizza man.

He returned the wave and smiled at me.

The cold breeze welcomed my warm body as we strolled outside and onto the busy sidewalk.

We walked in pleasant silence, and I took note of all the stores, planning to return on a weekend to do some shopping.

My gaze is suddenly drawn across the street to a brightly lit up ice cream shop, and I bite my lower lip as I think over my decisions.

Fùck it, you can't have dinner without eating Ice cream after.

Ignoring the voice in my head, I tap Angel on the shoulder.

"Can we get some Ice cream?" I ask him.

He glances down at me and nods before heading in the direction of the ice cream shop.

We make it inside and place our orders straight away; Angel chose Vanilla and I chose Chocolate Mint.

We returned outside after grabbing the ice cream from the man.

We strolled silently as we ate our Ice cream, my body filled with happiness at this very moment.

After finishing our Ice cream we walked about, the streets were quieter now due to the late hour.

Light raindrops began to fall from the sky as we crossed a road.

My movements come to a halt, causing Angel to come to a halt as well.

When I gaze up at the sky, I notice that the bright stars and full moon are hidden by heavy rain clouds.

I grinned at the sky as the raindrops grew larger, and I closed my eyes and absorbed the rainwater.

I giggled quietly, as the rain began to fall hard from above the dark sky.

I twirled around aimlessly as my body soaked up all the rain, soaking my previously dry clothes.

Angel smiled as he stood in front of me, his eyes brightening as the streetlight above us illuminated them.

He looked extremely attractive right now, and the desire to kiss him was tremendous.

As the rain showered down heavily on us, I took a step forwards, towards him, filling the distance between us both.

As I grinned up at a smiling Angel, the hairs that had strewn across my face clung to my cheeks.

His features were magically defined, with water droplets trickling down his high, chiselled cheekbones down to his hollow cheeks.

His hair was damp, and the brown mess sat lazily over his forehead, his normally blank, emotionless eyes holding an unidentified emotion.

I licked my wet lips and drew my arms over his neck and my body towards him, bringing us together.

"You look pretty, Angel." I say stupidly.

He smirks and moves his lips to touch mine.

"You look pretty too, Moonlight." He whispers against my lips.

I give him a smile before pressing my lips on his.

The combination of mint, vanilla, and raindrops, filled my mouth which made me melt even deeper into the kiss.

His lips slid gently against mine, as his hands ran all over my wet body.

I ran my hands through Angel's hair and kissed him more passionately.

As our mouths moved on their own and our tongues explored each other's sensations, we were both caught up in a feeling of serendipity and ecstasy.

We both drew back and rested our foreheads against each other as we stared at each other deeply.

As my gaze bored into his, I had realised something.

That, I was completely and utterly In love with Angel Romano.

As though the situation was too good to be true, a deafening gunshot was heard from the street. My hands tightened around Angel's neck for safety, and a small squeal left my lips.

I hurriedly looked around, my eyes widened, and I returned my gaze to Angel, who tightened his arm around my waist for support.

Then I saw something that I believed could only be seen in my nightmares, and my heart fell to the pit of my stomach.

Angel's stomach was dripping with blood, and his white shirt was drenched in it.

He stumbled back, and I grabbed his arm, attempting to steady him.

Tears streamed down my cheeks as I couldn't believe what was occurring right in front of me.

He stumbled backwards again, leaning against the pole in front of him. The bullet's pressure in his stomach was increasing.

I sat down next to him with blurry eyes, my body racked with dread and an overwhelming ache as my stomach began to feel nauseous.

He grabbed my hand tightly as I put his head into my lap, his head tilted back, and his eyes began to shut.

"Angel?" My voice cracks as I speak.

"Oh my god," I sob uncontrollably, my heart dying along with him.

"Angel? What can I do to help?" I sob helplessly as I gently wrap my hands over his face.

He locked his gaze on mine through hooded eyes, slowly placing his hand on my hand, which was resting on his cheek.

"It'll be ok, moonlight," His voice was raspy, as he assured me.

I bit my lower lip as tears streamed down my cheeks, my head pounded, and my heart thumped violently out of my chest.

"Please don't leave me, Angel." I say desperately.

I leant my head against Angel's, sobbing hysterically as tears streamed down his face, and I started to become faint.

"I won't, baby." His eyes flutter shut as he speaks.

As I gripped Angel for dear life, my cries blended with the sound of the falling rain.

My eyes began to feel heavy, and I soon felt myself drifting off; the last thing that filled my ears was the distant sound of sirens before I was fully enveloped in darkness.
