"Our universe grants every soul a twin -- a reflection of themselves -- the kindred spirit -- And no matter where they are or how far away they are from each other -- even if they are in different dimensions, they will always find one another. This is destiny; this is love."

- Julie Dillon

You guys messed around at the waterfall for about an hour, freaking out at some point when Todoroki accidentally froze it. However, when he undid his damage, it didn't cause any ease, because the force of the waterfall sent all four of you into the lake.

However, you all laughed it off, Todoroki staring down at the water in shame despite everyone's efforts to reassure him that everything was fine.

After another hour of you all messing around in the lake, you had decided to hop out, leaving the other three to mess around. You grabbed your towel, laying it out on the grass and sitting on it, your legs stretched out in front of you. You closed your eyes as you felt the cool breeze run across your skin, and you sighed in content, feeling relaxed for the first time in a while.

"(Y/N)-san."

But only for a few seconds.

When you sighed again, it was one of stress rather than peace, and you opened your eyes to see Todoroki standing in front of you. "Todoroki," you replied in the same fashion in which he called out to you.

"May I sit?" He asked, and you crossed your legs before hesitantly nodding your head. He placed his own towel down next to yours, about a full metre away from you, wanting to respect your personal space. He sat down on it and brought his knees up close to his chest, resting his forearms on them as he stared out at the waterfall and the two soulmates messing about in the lake.

You still couldn't help but stare at him as the cool breeze blew strands of his red and white hair out of his face. He had a blank look on his face, but somehow you could tell he was thinking about something. You wanted to ask, but at the same time, you were still feeling a bit upset about the day before.

Luckily, he beat you to it. "How do you feel about us being soulmates?"

You froze at the question, frowning at him with a bucket full of confusion. "What?"

He turned to you, looking at you dead in the eye before asking again, "How do you feel about us being soulmates?"

You thought that over a bit. Why would he want to know that? Was he not content with his fated outcome and was just seeking clarification from the other person that they felt the same? Was he disappointed? Were you not good enough?

Maybe you weren't happy being his soulmate. You weren't happy that you had to think over every single second you spent with him. You weren't happy that you were feeling like a useless piece of crap every time you were around him. You weren't happy that despite all that, you still felt flustered around him.

You weren't happy that you still admired how beautiful he was, and how adorable he could be. You weren't happy that you adored the look on his face when he didn't know what 'Never Have I Ever' was, how his head tilted to the side like a puppy as he gazed at you with those wonder-filled eyes. You weren't happy that you were actually falling for him while he wasn't happy with what he was given.

You shrugged you shoulders, looking down at your feet. "I don't know. What about you?"

He remained silent for a bit, and you felt his gaze burning in the side of your head. You finally looked at him again, and was surprised to find the frown on his face as he replied to your question, "I guess I was looking forward to it. I'd been preparing most of my life for it, but for some reason, that plan is going down the drain quickly."

You felt a strong pain in your chest as he said that, and you had to look away to hide the tears that were beginning to sting your eyes. How could he just say something like that straight to your face.

"I see." You murmured out, trying to keep your composure. You couldn't stay there. You needed to leave.

You quickly stood up, lifting your towel off the ground, happy that you were relatively dry as you slid your clothes over your swimsuit. You cleared your throat as you threw the towel over your shoulder before muttering, "See you at school."

"(Y/N)-san. . ." He trailed off as he watched you go. He didn't mean to make you upset.

"Izuku," you said, interrupting his giggly fun with Uraraka.

He looked up at you, acknowledging you presence. "Yes, (Y/N)-chan?" Uraraka splashed his face, and he giggled, turning his attention back to her to splash her in the face, as well.

"I'm going home." You said bluntly, and he nodded before messing around with Uraraka again, only saying, "Okay!"

He didn't even care.

You couldn't blame him. He had Uraraka to spend time with. Why would he give a damn as to the reason you were leaving when he had the love of his life to hang out with?

You just nodded your head before leaving Todoroki with them, looking ahead as tears stung your eyes.

You weren't feeling like going to school on Monday. Maybe you could skip. You just needed more time to recover from your issues with Todoroki.

Because so far, you weren't like classic soulmates. You weren't like Uraraka and Midoriya. You were just strangers.

This really was exactly how you thought your encounter with your soulmate would go down. Forget Uraraka and Midoriya and Iida's words: Todoroki really didn't want you to be his soulmate.
