《Ticket to Verona ✔️》twenty seven

~Leo

I woke up before Aria the following morning and instead of waking her up, I decided to just lie there and watch. I know, a little creepy, but she's so gorgeous, how could I not?

And she's all mine.

I'm still trying to come to terms with the fact that she actually said yes. She said she'd marry me. The fact that an angel like her wants to marry someone like me is beyond my understanding, but to whoever is up there, thank you.

We were up quite late last night with the party and everything and I know that it took a toll on her. Even once we were in bed, we spoke for a while. Mostly about our future and the wedding.

I found out that she wants at least 3 kids, and she wants her first child to be a boy, but she really only cares that it's healthy.She told me that she doesn't want a huge wedding, but she does want some sort of party. She's asked if we can write our own vows also which I instantly agreed with.

I decided to go and make her breakfast so I quietly went downstairs. I looked at the clock and noticed it was around 10:30am. I had taken today off of work and because everything seemed to be peaceful right now between mafias, I decided to allow people to have a day off if they so wanted to.

I had just finished plating up the breakfast when my sleepy fiancee walked into the kitchen. her hair was in a messy bun atop her head and she was rubbing the sleep out of her eyes. The ring was proudly displayed on her left ring finger and she smiled once she saw the mug of coffee I was holding out to her.

"I seriously cannot live without you." She mumbled before taking a sip.

I led her over to the island and helped her onto the high chair because she is a little short. We began eating, still discussing smaller wedding details. She seemed really excited for our wedding and I honestly couldn't be happier.

I had just put the plates in the sink when I heard the ring of the doorbell.

"Who's that?" Aria voiced my thoughts.

"let me check." I kissed her forehead and walked towards the front door. whoever was there had now begun knocking rapidly.

"Okay, just wait a minute-" I began as I opened the door.

"Leonardo David Romano!" I was met with a slap from my mother.

"Good morning, mama." I grumbled.

"How could you not tell us that you were going to propose? I would have helped pick out the ring. I found out from Enzo of all people! And then I hear you had a party? Why on earth were we not invited? You are to have another one tonight so that I can congratulate you both and be involved in the celebrations."

"Um, I-"

"Who was it?" Aria yawned as she walked into the hallway.

Upon seeing my parents, she gasped and hid behind me. "Oh, um, Mr and Mrs Romano, I didn't realise you were coming, I would have gotten changed. I looked down at her to see that she was wearing a pair of my basketball shorts which were down to her calves and one of my hoodies.

She looks fucking adorable.

"Oh! It's no issue dear. I heard what happened last night and I just wanted to come over to congratulate you myself. And didn't I tell you to call me Fiametta?" My mother scowled.

"I'm sorry Mrs Rom- Fiametta." Aria corrected herself. "Excuse me for just a minute, I'll just go and get changed, then we can sit down and talk." she smiled before walking up to our room.

"I'm proud of you, son." My father spoke for the first time today.

"Thank you, dad."

"I knew you would find love eventually, my boy." My mother smiled as she grabbed my cheek.

"cara, leave the boy alone." My father smirked as he led her into the living room.

My mother continued berating my father as they walked away. I decided to go and check on Aria because knowing her, she's probably freaking out right now.

~~~
I was right.
The first thing I saw when I entered our room was Aria pacing back and forth mumbling to herself. I've noticed that she tends to overthink a lot and certain things can trigger panic attacks for her.
"Cuore mio, what's wrong?"
"Your parents, they, we didn't tell them we were engaged what if-"
I wrapped her up in my arms before she could say anything else that would make her spiral even more.
"I promise, bambina, they are simply excited that I've finally found my wife. Besides, you've met them countless times already, and every single time they ask if we are engaged yet." I laugh.
"I guess you're right." she sighed. "But it's 11 o'clock. Why not at least call up before?" she thought aloud.
"I can bet that was my mother's impatience." I smiled.
"Oh well." she sighed and walked into our wardrobe. She came out a few moments later dressed in a pale green summer dress, adorned with flowers. Her hair was in a half-up, half-down style, with a baby pink ribbon holding it in place.
It's safe to say, she looks gorgeous.
"Leo." the angel giggled while snapping her fingers in front of my face.
I snapped out of my trance and picked her up, spinning her around the room as her laughter filled the silence. I set her down on the floor and smashed my lips onto hers.
"I cannot wait until you're my wife." I smiled.
"me too." she laughed.
~~~

"so, when are you having a baby?"

I choked on my drink at my mother's question, and it's obvious that Aria did too.

"Um, we haven't, um-"

"Not right now. We are yet to talk about it." I spoke, trying to end the conversation. I know Aria isn't that comfortable talking about that kind of stuff with people.

"We do want children though, we just want to be sure we can take care of them to the best of our ability."

My father nodded at Aria's answer. "That makes sense. I wish we had prepared more before Leonardo was born. I mean, we wanted him, of course, but he was a devil as a child."

Aria laughed at this. "Please, explain."

"Oh, my dear! He was one of the most badly behaved children I have ever met. He would go into the garden and find all sorts of frogs and worms, you name it, he found it. Then he would sneak up behind guards on duty and put them down their shirts."

"Fia is right." My father smiled. "The amount of times I was faced with guards wriggling around on the floor, only to find Leonardo a few metres away laughing with his friends. Granted, he was only 8, but him and Enzo were a force to be reckoned with."

"We still are, Alessandro." Enzo walked into the living room, giving Fiametta a hug and shaking my father's hand as a greeting before sitting on the other side of Aria.

"They're getting married, Enzo! Isn't that exciting?" My mother exclaimed. I understand her excitement though, she always thought I would never get married and to be honest, neither did I.

"It really is, Fia, I know it's going to be a huge occasion."

"Well, we have to start planning!"

"Yeah, um, about that" Aria cut in. "I've booked a dress fitting for a few days, and I was wondering if, um, you would want to come, Fiametta. I mean, I really value your opinion, and-"

"Hush now dear, I would be honoured! Just tell me the time and address and I'll be there." My mother assured her.

I squeezed Aria's hand gently. I always knew at the back of my mind that this would be hard on her, no matter how happy the event was. The absence of her parents has affected her, and I know things like shopping for a dress will be really hard without her mother there with her.

"Thank you, Fia. Anyway, I should really go and start making lunch, you're welcome to join us."

"That would be lovely dear, thank you."

She walked out of the room, Enzo following her like a puppy dog. She always insists that someone helps her cook because, and I quote, 'You will all be useless husbands otherwise.'

I turned to my parents as soon as I knew Aria couldn't hear me.

"I need to ask you both a favour."

"Of course, son. What is it?" My father spoke.

"Aria's parents passed away when she was young, so I know that this is going to be a little hard on her, so I just wanted to ask if you could help me to make it as enjoyable as possible for her."

"of course, figlio, of course we will do as much as we can. This must be why she really wanted me to come to her fitting." my mother spoke, realisation lacing her tone.

"She's already part of the family, Leonardo. No way she will be alone in this."

"Grazie."

We spoke for a little longer until Aria called us that lunch was ready.

"Lunch!"

God, I cannot wait until she has my last name.
