《Hush | on hold》Chapter 24: gifts and invitations

How many times do u guys want me to update this at once?
G i o v a n n i
Things are starting to run more smoothly now. I don't need to look over my shoulder every five seconds to make sure someone's not planning on shooting me, it's relieving, to say the least. It really is...
Yet, there's something that I can't wrap my finger around, that has me feeling somewhat frustrated. I have everything, what more is there...
My door creaked open and I threw my empty glass at the opening and it quickly shut. "S-sir you have a visitor... ah, wait! You can't go in yet-"
The door opened once more and I frowned, "Who the hell is it?"
"Tadaa!" I sighed as Lucifer walked in, behind him was a girl who kept her head down as she followed him. I looked between the two of them and raised my eyebrow, "What do you want Lucifer?"
"I'm here bearing gifts," he said and I pointed to the girl, "Your gift?"
He nodded and I leaned back in my chair, "I'm not interested..."
He laughed and sat in front of my desk, tossing me a small ziplock bag that was filled almost halfway with a white powder. I looked up at him as I held it in my hands and he smiled, "Can't get high off your own supply now, can you? Think of it as my way of thanks for you."
"Thanks... for what?"
"Well... this partnership."
I hummed in reply and tossed the bag down on my desk, "I don't need to get high,"
He sighed, "Gio, you haven't left your office in... who knows how long? Since your mother's funeral? I'm assuming that you must've felt a great deal after losing her-"
I cut him off and shook my head, "She was already meant to be gone long beforehand."
"I don't mean your mother, I'm talking about the girl, Jeyri. It's clear from what little I saw from the both of you, you feel a certain level of intimacy for her. The way your eyes followed her, the way you held her, to have that... feeling need to be snatched away from you, you don't feel as if you've won. Your life is still being dictated by your father's rules... his old ways are still clinging on to you."

"That girl meant nothing-"
"Then why didn't you shoot her for real? You spared her and risked your own standing for her to return to a life without you... If she meant nothing then I'm sure the heartless Giovanni could have gotten rid of her. Just admit it, she excited something in you much better than any drugs could. You want to see her again."
"I don't..."
"I'm sure you've realized that the girl standing me, resembles her a fair amount... or have you not been able to look at her? I'm sure you feel riddled with guilt."
I glanced over at the girl for a quick second and she looked back at me. Almost everything about her resembled Jeyri but the one thing, her eyes weren't the same. I gapped my foot down on the floor and sighed. He's wrong about me feeling guilty, I don't. I saved her life, there's nothing to feel guilty about there. What feels almost as if it's eating me out inside is nothing but plain old curiosity.
I wanted to push her away from this but deep down I wanted to see how far she'd fall into this world of mine. Would she cower away or would she keep fighting? For the little time I'd had her, she surprised me almost every time... It was a change of pace for me, something that had me wondering what would happen next instead of the same boring thing every day.
My conscience told me to let her go but, what I wanted to do with her was far from that.
It's not only that... but he's right about my father's ways still managing into my life somehow. Sergio would've given me no other option but to kill her, I hate being given an ultimatum, especially by men like him. He's the last person I'd ever want to bend my will for.
"Did Matteo or Sebastian put you up to this?" I asked after a while and he smiled, "They're concerned about you."
"Then they should've come themselves."
"I did," Sebastian walked in, waving his hand before stuffing it into his pocket and leaned up against the door frame, "Matteo is with Melanie as of right now, I'm sure you can guess that."

"And you? Why haven't you gone to see that girl?... Hayley?"
"You knew?!"
"Sottovaluti la mia intelligenza. Lo mandi con droghe a buon mercato e puttane per me, per chi mi prendi?" (You underestimate my intelligence. You send him with cheap drugs and whores for me, who do you take me for?)
"Maleducato, lei è bella." Sebastian chuckled, nodding toward the girl. (Rude, she's beautiful.)
I looked back at Lucifer who had an amused smile on his face and I sighed. "Get out, both of you," I said, waving my hand and I pointed to the girl, "you stay."
Lucifer stood and up and patted her head before following Sebastian out. She stood there, keeping her head lowered and I walked out from behind my desk. I sat at the front of it and motioned her toward me. I rested my hands on her hips and pulled her between my legs.
"What's your name?" I asked, tilting my head to see her face and she bit down on her lip, "Rayne..."
"Your real name?" I asked and she nodded. I caressed her face and she rested her face in my hand. I brought her face closer to mine and her breath hitched as our lips connected. Her lips were somewhat smaller than Jeyri's and she barely made a move to touch me.
I trailed my hand down to her shoulders, pulling the straps down off her dress. I ran my hand across her bare skin and she trembled slightly under my touch. I paused for a second and watched her reaction. She had her eyes closed almost like she was waiting for me to do something.
I dropped my hands and shook my head, "Pull your dress back up..."
"Wha- why? Am I not good enough for you?" Her eyes widened and she grabbed onto me but I could tell she was trying to hide her relief.
I pursed my lips and let out a sigh, "No... this is your first time, sì?" Her expression told me the answer I was looking for and I nodded, "You're scared of me and I don't intend to have you that way. Go home."
"But-"
"What is it?"
"I'm meant to sleep with you," she whispered shyly.
I sighed and rubbed my forehead before nodding slowly, "Tell Lucifer that we had a good time," I brought her close to me and placed a kiss down on her neck, making sure to leave a mark. She lifted her dress back up and nodded quickly before running from the room,
"T-thank you!"
Damn him, sending a girl like her in... She probably has no choice but to work like that. She doesn't seem like the type of girl. I ran my hands through my hair and groaned. Sebastian came into the room after a while and he looked at me, "You sent her off?"
"She didn't want to do it, should I have forced her for my own satisfaction?"
He cleared his throat and shook his head, "My father is going to come soon Gio-"
"Great, another fucking annoyance," I groaned. "I want him gone just as much as you do..." Sebastian said, sitting down in my chair, "But we have to be careful about it, as much as he claims loyalty to you, I don't trust it. I think he wants me to betray you and take your place, he's everything like Dino."
"You don't have to tell me that, I can see it. What the fuck does he want with me now?"
"A party. He wants you to join him. There's going to be a lot of business people there, rich people-"
"Will Matteo be there?"
"Yes, I'm sure he was already on the list... This is our opportunity to reach more, they'll buy our drugs, we can rack up the prices, they have the money for it... Sergio has his own plans but that doesn't mean we can't profit off of them as well. I will deal with my father when the time comes but for now, let's use him to get what we want."
"Then I guess we'll be going to a party..."

The Power of Ten: Book One: Sama Rantha, and Book Two: The Far Future
(Author's Note: If you're wondering about the views, it's +1.8 million more on Webnovel, its original home. Updated daily starting Dec. 26, 2018, and continued with Book Three.) Some time ago, a planes-traveling archmage made up a video game to train some people on the planet Earth for the catastrophe he knew was coming. That game was the Power of Ten. The gods seized this opportunity to take the templates of some of those characters, and even their souls, for use in other worlds, and other realms. Sama Rantha is one of those characters, and is going to find out that being a Hagchild and having to survive after your Hag Curse fails to murder you at birth is much, much less fun than setting it as your Race at level One on a gamescreen. Join Sama Rantha on her Road to Ten, and letting her Hagmother know exactly what she thinks of her... ------ Warning: This book starts with a HARD OPEN! It was written as an extension of other stories that have not made it onto the Internet yet for National Novel Writing Month in Nov/2018. Book One/Sama Rantha: A traditionalist LitRPG in the fantasy world vein. The beginning chapters will be heavy with gaming terms and the supporting math as Sama exploits the rules as much as possible, minmaxing her heart out to get one up on the world trying to kill her. The math and rules lawyering tapers off, but are never eliminated, as Sama is going to do everything she can to exploit the rules of reality here and not die, while making sure those responsible for this get exactly what is coming to them... ------ Book Two, The Far Future (starting Ch. 286): The Warp, the final frontier; in the grim darkness of a galaxy far far away, there came a hagchild...QX! Sci-fi/Fantasy/psionics mashup, grimbright clashing with grimdark! Sama is sent into a setting she'd rather not be in, but the heart of a powergamer never says no, even in the crapsack galaxy of the Tellurian Empire. BOOK TWO IS COMPLETE WITH 357 CHAPTERS AS OF 9/2020. ----------- Book Three (updating daily): The Human Race (next Book!) - Urban Fantasy world. Three Power of Ten gamers come together in a world under the Shroud of the Cancer of Death. Whatever might happen when they do, and what might they find there? Book Three is complete with 500 chapters: right here. Book Four: Power of Ten is dumped into the Marvel Universe. Surely there'll be no changes to canon when that happens? A Fanfiction variant, with teeth! Dynamo The Original Sama Stories: Being posted at: over in this location. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Discord link: in zis location is always up if I'm online.
