《Hush | on hold》Chapter 10: killer

This book.... I'm loving it too much.
J e y r i ~
My head was pounding from all the times I'd hit it and his voice shouting was only making it worse. He was so desperately trying to take my clothes off, his grip on the knife wavered. He reached down for my pants and zi wrapped my legs around his waist locking him in place.
Of course he took that the wrong way and snickered, "Finally realize your place, huh?" I cringed as he started to grind his hips against me and feeling his boner press against me made me sick to my stomach.
I frowned and knocked the knife from his hand before stabbing it into his throat. His blood splattered all over me and his eyes widened. His mouth dropped open but only blood came spilling out. My hands were shaking when I let go of the knife and his body dropped. He's so heavy.
I pushed him off of me and backed away from his body before looking down at my hands. I was still shaking. Is he dead...? I couldn't manage to calm my heartbeat down, it only seemed to get faster. I slapped my hand over my mouth as I heard my front door open and I let out a small sob.
It was Giovanni and two other guys.
They all looked around the room and his eyes stopped when he saw me. I covered my body up and flinched when I saw the blood on me. He looked back toward Lorenzo's body and crouched down, "Did you do this?" He asked in a low voice but K was too afraid to answer him.
He turned his body over and it moved slightly, but he just stood up and shot him nearly five times, making me jump. He walked over toward me but I couldn't back up any more since my back was already up against the wall.

"D-dont touch me!" I yelled and he sighed, "Matteo... Sebastian, go wait in the car."
"But..."
"Go."
They both left the room and he turned back toward me. "It seems that I have to keep apologizing." He said softly. He pulled out a small cloth and wiped the blood from my face. He paused when he noticed me shaking and pulled away slightly, "I'm not going to hurt you. Did he touch you?"
"I- I killed him..." I whispered. My eyes teared up and I looked down at my hands, "I killed someone."
He pulled his gun out again and shot at the guy's body a few more times, "No, see look I killed him. Don't worry."
He removed his jacket and placed it over me. He lifted my head slightly and I flinched as I felt a stinging sensation across my neck. His knife probably cut me.
"Are you hurt anywhere else?" I probably wouldn't even be able to tell myself. My body is covered in someone else's blood...
"No." My voice barely came out that time. My head was only getting worse from me crying, and what's more, I felt lightheaded. I could see his lips moving but my brain wasn't registering anything he said. I fell forward into him and he caught me. My eyes closed but I'm pretty sure he was calling my name.
I wonder why he hasn't killed me yet. That's what he was planning on doing right? I made things difficult for him and on top of that I killed one of his men... So why did it feel like he was trying to comfort me instead? He apologized and even took the blame but... Why?
All those questions swarmed through my head as I passed out but I still couldn't find the answers to them.

I don't know how long I was out for but it felt like only a few seconds in my mind. My head was still throbbing when I woke up but I was looking up to a ceiling that I didn't recognize. I sat up slowly and looked down at myself. The blood was all washed off and my neck was bandaged up. I was wearing what looked like a hospital robe but... This room didn't look like a hospital room.
There was just this bed I was laying on and a window right across from it. There was an empty chair besides the bed and a small desk with flowers on it. The ceiling was decorated with angels on it- kind if what you'd see in a museum or something. I jumped when the door opened and I clenched my hands into fists to stop them from shaking.
My eyes widened.
"You're awake."

Memories of the Fall
This is a story about two sisters, Jun Arai and Jun Sana, and their friends, Juni, Ling and Shu who make their living as members of the Hunter Bureau, an organisation dedicated to dealing with the terrifying flora and fauna endemic to their home Great World. When they get dragged into a grand scheme to unpick the ancient secrets entombed within one its foremost forbidden zones in their world, the Yin Eclipse Mountains, they must all try to survive the dark machinations, eldritch undercurrents and the echoes of a terrible conflict trying to re-emerge into an unsuspecting cosmos that had rather hoped it was done with that kind of thing a few eras hence. So please come join Arai, Sana, Juni, Ling, Shu and the rest of my cast as they journey through strange lands, meet all kinds of unusual beings and unravel some of the power and glory of a land time tried very hard to forget. I promise terrifying mushrooms, angry snakes, confused gods, even more confused cultivators and much, much more! Update schedule: (02/6/2022) As chapters are done, sorry. Progress: Currently up to old chapter 13-15. Chapter 24(or 25)/13, Parts 1 & 2 will be the end of the rework. Part 2 has been temporarily delayed due to me getting a frozen shoulder in the middle of June, which has been very slow to properly clear up. It is getting better, though, but Shoulder/neck is the worst set of muscles to have issues with ;( You can currently pick up most story threads after the rewritten chapters, starting from chapter 13-14 (old) Genre-wise, this is a bit hard to pin down. It's technically a Xianxia (because cultivators!), but it also veers towards Xuanhuan and has more traditional High Fantasy elements and a bit of Gods and Monsters and All Myths Are (on some levels) Valid. It also has a fairly large, ensemble cast, so if multiple point's of view are not your thing I am sorry. It won't ever really be considered 'grimdark' by any real measure of that definition but it does go to some complicated and fairly places dark occasionally, which I will note in author pre-chapter notes when expedient!. About the Author I mainly write fiction for my own hobby, it makes a nice change from academic scribbling! I started writing this quite a number of years ago. It has grown somewhat organically out of a bunch of different interests in all kinds of Mythology, World Building, Drawing Maps, Archaeology, Anthropology, History and Epic Fantasy fiction into what it is today. So I hope you enjoy the story and thanks for reading! Other stuff The cover is made by the author, using photos taken by the author. There is a Discord Server- Please come and chat, but beware of spoilers.
