《Hush | on hold》Chapter 8: uninvited guest

"I'm home." I said as I walked into my house, to absolutely no one. I kicked my shoes off and walked straight to my room. I paused in front of the mirror and my hand went up to my hair, I almost forgot about it...
I placed the flower on my dresser and sat down on my bed. I should probably message Hayley and tell her how it went. I picked my phone up and opened my messages with her. I threw my phone down on the bed after I texted her and sighed. Well, it's not so bad. Except for that guy... He gave me the creeps. I should really wash my hands.
I stood up and walked to the bathroom and ran the water in the sink. I froze when I thought I heard something but I just thought, maybe I'm just hearing things. I washed my hands and splashed my face with some cold water before coming back out. I sat back down on my bed and felt around for my phone, I swear I put it there... Did it fall off? I looked under my pillows and on the other side of my bed on the floor and frowned. Did I take it to the bathroom...?
I stood up and froze the second I turned around. My eyes widened when I came face to face with the man from earlier. He was holding my phone in his hands.
"You..."
"You won't be able to call anyone this time."
This time? He pulled the hood from over his head and the realization hit me. He's that Lorenzo guy, the one that Giovanni shot. He's the one that hit me.
"What do you want?" I asked backing away from him and he smiled sinisterly. "It's because of you that this happened to me-"

"Well no, you shouldn't hit women." I said, still backing up and he scowled. "Won't your boss do it again if you touch me?"
He chuckled, "Giovanni... He's not here right now to save you. I've already made sure his hands were full, he's too busy to worry about a little girl like you." He pulled a knife out from his pocket and made his way closer to me. When he thought he had me cornered against the door, I opened it and quickly shut it against him. He pounded on the bathroom door and I let out a gasp as I tried to catch my breath. This week just really isn't mine.
"Open the door." He shouted and I covered my mouth trying not to let out a cry. He already knows I'm here so there's no point of trying to trick him out of it but... I can't help but try and stay quiet.
The handle rattled as he tried opening it and he paused for a while, "Open the fucking door. You can't stay in there forever." My heart felt like it'd jump out my chest every time he'd kick against the door. The loud sound it would make made me want to cover my ears and hide. I know he's going to get in... I looked around my bathroom for anything I could use as a weapon.
The door busted open and he immediately grabbed hold of my hair and dragged me back out to my bedroom. I stomped down on his injured foot and he let out a trail of curse words, "Fucking bitch." His fists landed in my face and he threw me down onto the bed. My head felt dizzy from the contact and it took me a second to get back into focus. I let out a loud scream and his hand went over my mouth. He held the knife up to my throat and gritted his teeth,

"Don't. Don't scream or I'll kill you, I swear I'll kill you."
He pulled his hand away from my mouth and I cried out, "Please, just stop."
He clicked his tongue, "No can't do... You realize how much you've ruined things for me?! I was supposed to gain his trust and you fucked it up. I was so close.
"I didn't do anything." He shook his head and caressed my face with his rough hands. "Has anyone ever told you that you have pretty eyes? They look especially nice when you're crying."
"Get off of me..." I tried pushing him but he was stronger than me. His weight against mine... I couldn't win.
"I wonder how the rest of you looks..." He whispered. He tore open the front of my shirt, revealing my bra and let out a snicker. "I'll be sure to take my sweet time on you..."

Hope
There were 2 options: Fight the same war for countless more aeons. Shatter the Betrayer's undead legions time and time again until all was ground to dust. Because the endless legions truly never end. A hair's breath of ground in a century is enough if the war takes all of eternity. Or to choose Hope. To cast away his memories, his power, his very life. To wager everything on a chance to prevent their eventual end or to perish trying. Because if he were to return it would be with the power necessary to finally slay what remains of the Betrayer. Of the last Aspect. Only then would all things be right. And so, he chose the latter. Expect:Weak to strong quick-ish.Powerful MC reincarnates, gradually starts regaining memories.MC that is an actual character not a plot device. My original unique magic system discovered along with the MC.My original setting with mythos that have both been living rent free in my head for actual years.Opening arc will be less fast than the following story. Good writing (I think) and grammar. Upload schedulle: 2 chapters a week of 3-4k words each. I want to upscale to 3 in the future. Meant to be read in RR dark mode. For those coming here from my other stories, this is indeed a reimagining of my older story, CotM. I say reimagining because I have changed so much it cannot be called just a rewrite. Among the major changes, MC is fundamentally different in personality and background, I have actually planned the story out and changed it almost completely and I have adjusted my mythos so it no longer has as many holes as swiss cheese.
