Chapter 3
Kyoya held his breath. In his vision, Kenichi was holding a target pad, about to be raised any moment. Standing on the tip of his sneakers, he felt his bodyweight being evenly distributed on both legs, resulting in significantly faster movements. Suddenly, Kyoya noticed a shift in Kenichi`s center of mass.
Immediately he took a momentum step, with the stepping foot pointed backwards. Tucking his hips and chambering his leg, Kyoya turned his head around to spot the target. His pupils expanded right as they saw the pad, and Kyoya shot out his leg. The spinning hook kick drew a beautiful parabola across the air, but it was a bit too low, as his feet only grazed the pad.
Kenichi felt a gust of wind brushed his face, before Kyoya`s leg landed. Returning to the neutral position, he let out a sigh.
“Your hips are too stiff. You need to bend backwards more as you shoot out your leg, or best align it with your thigh. That allows more flexibility in your kick.”
“Hai”- Kyoya answered with a long face.
“Hey don`t worry, fighting isn`t all about high kicks. Low kicks are very effective too. And I plan to teach you just that today: the leg kick!”
Sparing a moment to look at Kyoya`s surprised eyes, he continued
“Even though they are not available in official WF Taekwondo, leg kicks are very effective attacks. Their main use is to deal stacking damage to the opponent`s leg. Over the course of a fight, if you repeatedly strike their leg, your opponent would, legitimately, just fall down. This technique is extra effective in fighting bigger opponents, however you shouldn`t when you are against gangs.”
“Sou![Right] since they are heavier their weight will put a lot more pressure on their leg! So if you weaken those, the gravity of their torso will exceed the load that their leg can hold and…”

“Yea yea I get it. Let`s get to practice.”
After a while of explaining, Kenichi tied 3 shield pads onto a tree. As Kyoya hit the target, he was taught to either use the recoil to snap his leg back or folding his leg and follow through for spinning combos.
“Another thing is, when you miss you definitely need to follow through, and remember to check as soon as you see your opponent.”
They continued their training in the scarlet dusk. The sun was blood red. Once again.
Kyoya was walking towards a luxurious looking house. The brick walls stood six times taller than him, making this place seem impregnable, and also inescapable. With each step, he felt as if he was bringing himself closer to the beast`s den. Taking the final step, Kyoya was in front of the door, rooted. He hesitated, as an invisible pressure built up inside his chest. He pressed the bell. The camera threw him a gaze, before a cheery voice answered his call.
“Haaii~ coming~”
The door swung opened, revealing an elegant girl. With a gleeful voice, she greeted Kyoya. Avoiding her gaze, he went inside, and was told to do various chores like dishes and cooking. As he was nodding submissively, in his mind he prayed that Emiko wouldn`t say those words.
(Please don`t mention it… Please don`t mention it… Please don`t…)
“And since our parents won`t be home tonight, let`s have some fun hehe”
Her voice was like that of the judge declaring a death sentence for him. Losing all will to resist, Kyoya proceed to take a shower and do what he was told. Meanwhile, Emiko was upstairs preparing whatever treatments Kyoya would receive later. Every single noise he heard from that room sent chills down his spine. He felt as if he was a pig, waiting to be butchered. After they have finished dinner, Emiko ordered him to wash himself again, and go to her room afterwards.

Behind him, the door was shut then locked with a click. The only way in and out was cut off. As Emiko drawn closer and closer, Kyoya felt the slightly aromatic air became thicker and thicker, to the point that he could not breathe. She was smiling, crookedly.

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

When Plush comes to Shove
An: So the last synopsis wasn’t really all that good, it was just some mumbo jumbo with no actual point to it so I decided to make a new one that’s a bit more accurate. Leo Lush, just your average everyday (slightly chubby) schmuck, or at least he would be if he didn’t carry around a stuffed toy everywhere he went.I mean, he was a man who could read the atmosphere a bit so put it away in his bag whenever having a stuffed toy out would be rude but other than that he brought it with him all the time, it was a memento from his girlfriend who had died three years ago and keeping it close made him feel better. That’s also why his classmates gave him the nickname “Plush”, though that's neither here nor there. One day at the train station he’d lost his dearest stuffed toy, one of his classmates found it and lobbed it towards him, something that they’d already done many times before, but this time something went wrong and Leo found himself falling in front of the train due to the force of the throw. Now follow Leo as the spirit that developed in his stuffed toy and killed him forces his ghost into another world to possess a different stuffed toy. He doesn’t know much about the world or why he’s there but what he does know is that according to a magic book his girlfriend was also sent to this very world when she died in a plane accident three years ago. An: For those who want to know a bit more about what kind of story this will be: I want it to be a chill feel-good story and stay as far away from those despair-fest stories as possible (No offense to people who enjoy them, I’m just not one of you)Let me make something clear; I’m not writing this story with hope of it becoming really top tier among RRL (Though it did get above rank 500 once which I’m still very proud of even though it’s gone back down to ~850 at the time of writing this) I just want to write a story that I would enjoy reading, that’s why I’ll be mostly skipping over a lot of the parts that I skip when I read other stories, such as stats, the exact value of money and other such precise statistics that no one(as far as I’m aware) really cares about all that much. Just feels like a lot of effort for something superfluous. There’s a single exception and that’s one of the battles, it’s not a despair-fest or anything but it’s got a different feel than the rest of the story due to me being in a funky mood while I was writing it.
