《Call it a Mission》Fixing A Hole – 05 – Coincidence. I think not

Frank
“I think I’d know if they were dead,” Nora offered.
True, she probably would.
“Relax old man,” Benny said, stepping from around the divider with his own cup of steaming coffee in hand, the other hooked in the pocked of his vest. Frank smelled the hazelnut. So it was Benny who grabbed the last one! Bastard. “They’ll be fine.”
Frank sighed. It seemed he was the only one concerned. No one else seemed to be concerned their boss, the almost as inscrutable Ephram Palantine, hadn’t been heard from either in a couple weeks now. To be fair, he’d gone into Limbo for longer periods of time, but still... They were short handed for a mission like this.
“It’s hard to,” he confessed. “I wouldn’t send my worst enemy to that part of the world these days.”
“Maybe you need to join my Tai Chi class,” Benny offered glancing between him and Nora. “Both of you.”
“We need be worried,” Nora said, looking up. “One puddle of Zen is quite enough for this place.”
“Ouch,” Benny replied. “Coming from you, that really hurts, Nora.”
He turned back to Frank, a speculative expression on his face.
“What do you think of our latest recruit,” he asked, nodding towards the boardroom. “I see you have some more data.”
“And I have seven episodes of Coast to Coast to go over,” Franks said. “Recruit seems a strong word for it. Especially if it works out like last time. He seems like a good guy. Its never fun putting someone through this, except when it is.”
That was enough to make even Benny grimace.
“It’s a process,” he said.
“That’s what Truman always told us when things went wrong,” Frank noted, ten turned wistful. “I liked Janie.”

“Word is she’s fine, got a job on Wall Street, is raking in the dough” Benny smirked. “What did it cost her, six months in therapy? She did get us most of the way there, even if we had to wait a couple years for another client to cinch it.”
“It’s the screams that get to me,” Frank said, “You know that. The despair.”
“Word is Gary isn't a screamer, if that’s any help,” Benny replied. “Background checks said he’s reasonably stable.”
“Ordering us more hazelnut would help,” Frank told him. “You go through that like its oxygen.”
“Do I?” Benny said, glancing down at his coffee, then looked up totally at peace with himself, offering another one of his Zen smiles. “Maybe I do.”
A phone started ringing. It sounded like Benny’s.
“Back in a few minutes for details,” Benny said, turning away.
Frank sighed and glanced at the picture of a grinning Janie on his bulletin board, sandwiched between hyper-glotsic scales and a picture of a meteorite crater. Wall Street, huh. Other people’s millions on the line. What would that stress be like? Despite everything he’d experienced over the last eight years, he didn’t envy the woman.
Frank went back to his station, pulled up the recordings Wilbur had sent him. Activity seemed to be increasing this year. Peak was going to come in only few weeks. They’d found Gary at exactly the right time.
Coincidence. I think not.
Pal knew what he was doing.

The Novel's Extra's Extra
As a reader, Cristopher always looked for things that entertained him, didn't matter what the "critics" said, all that matters was his own opinion on the novel, so he started reading "The Novel's Extra", a webnovel that despicts an author who is transmigrated to his own novel. It was fun and all with its own good and bad points, really, one of his favorites novels at the end of the journey, and that's taking into account the little fact that he didn't have too many things he was able to enjoy, not in that empty shell that was called life for him... Why could someone be born like that? With a void inside, an endless void that slowly consumes oneself... But... for better or worse... everything changed one day, the same day he woke up to discover he had the same faith of the author whose novel he just finished reading, becoming an extra in a novel, becoming The novel's extra's extra... /Ok, now that's the description I thought of... first of all, for those of you who are reading this, if any, a few points I have to make clear: 1. I'm not an english native speaker, so if you find anything wrong in the text, please let me know, that would help me learn, and I would be thankful for that.2. I'm writting this out of pure "enjoyment", so while I'll try to be constant, I'll not make any promises.3. True reason why I'm writing this is because I'm going through a moderate to crippling depression right now (and no, is not because anything trully bad and horrendous happened to me, it seems to have something to do with my brain's malfuctioning, among other things), and doctors told me to try writing as I enjoy reading. So yeah, this is more like a self-help excercise, to keep myself distracted while trying to be safe from my self.4. I choose to make a fanfiction of "The Novel's Extra" as I don't trully know how to write, and because I really loved that webnovel, though there are some points I didn't particulary liked.5. If you see some (let's be clear, really much) self insertion on this series, well, that may be me trying to escape reality, to which I make an early warning and disclaimer, and also ask for forgiveness, as I said before, this is more of an excercise, so don't take it too serious.6. I'll be a slow writer, as I have to still check a few things from the novel, even when I've read it like 3 or 4 times already, and because I know shit about writing a novel or a series.7. If you get to enjoy this, then that's good, I would be glad about it, maybe even more motivated, but I don't really expect this to be any good. Thanks to you all who may, or may not, be reading this novel./

How To: Survive Teenagehood
There is a stage between childhood and adulthood that makes us all want to bang our heads into a concrete wall as if that will somehow make us forget the things we did in that cringe-worthy stage of adolescence. That golden era of bad haircuts, first and last dates, and that undeniable feeling of wanting to fit in. Teenagehood. Surviving it is a feat in itself, and the memories you make may haunt you forever. So this is my guide to the good, the bad, and the ugly of surviving teenagehood. Yes this will include anecdotes.[Highest Rank: #1 in Non-Fiction 16.10.17]
