《The Forest》Strength

Ben walked down the hallway slowly when the sounds of fighting had reached a climax and gradually became silent. Worried he picked up pace and arrived to see the dead like Drake.
“Fuck, I should have been here.” Tears threatened to fall from his eyes as he filled with self-blame. He walked over ignoring the mangled students and the two dead goblins and saw Drake lying over the body of the teenage Goblin. Ben crouched down and touched the ‘body’ of Drake with a trembling hand. For whatever reason the other students didn’t register in his eyes nor feelings, maybe it was some twisted sense of responsibility for sending out someone to die, someone that he knew. Or maybe it was that they were closer than Drake thought. Either way Ben was filled with pain as he touched his friends head.
Suddenly, a sharp inhale from the ‘dead’ body startled ben bringing him out of his pain and self-blame. “Your alive, I knew you couldn’t die that easily”. Ben said as he sent his huge palm down and slapped the bare back of Drake.
“Damn, what the hell is wrong with you. That hurts, want me to do it to you”. Ben didn’t care Drakes outburst while he laughed heartily despite the hopeless and cruel situation they are in his laughter seemed to infect Drake as he started to laugh to.
I woke up with a slap on my back, it didn’t hurt as much as I thought it would, but it did startle me. My skin was tender after the evolution it went through.
This world is something that even the Goblins didn’t know what it was exactly just an endless forest, but I did find from the memories from the Goblin that the monsters which are attacking us are the bottom of the food chain. These monsters come from a medium size village of about 300 Goblins. The goblin rankings were from new born, adult, elder, and chief. The Goblin I ‘devoured’ was an adult ranked below an elder and a chief but despite that the goblin showed great promise, so it was taught various things even given basic education.

If the goblin went back to the village and wasn’t killed by me it would have at been given the rank of elder at the very least if not chief. The basic education it was given involved some basic geography about the monsters close to the village and resources. It was also taught a technique to harness the energy from those it killed allowing it to evolve and step on the path of evolution. The path of evolution is basically using energy to change and evolve the body and mind through the energy you take. The evolution you take involves genes and the energy of the thing you kill. But you usually follow a set path unless you become a variant. The information involving variants is severely limited as the goblins didn’t know much about them because variants are heaven defying, extremely rare.
Despite living through the whole life of the goblin I wasn’t disorientated nor in much pain. That could be attributed to my brains evolution which wasn’t much as the goblins weren’t an intelligent species yet despite that I still have major improved brain functions.
Armed with basic knowledge I feel semi comfortable in surviving and keeping those I care for safe and let them become stronger with me.
“Ben, we need to go back to the class get everyone and find other people because just us we won’t be able to survive against the monsters that are coming”. I said with seriousness in my voice as I pulled my body up and got a feel for the strength in my body. Luckily the memories of the goblin had some combat and strength adjustment training.

Toric the Soulless
Hello everybody, my name is Spotacus. English is my first language, but that does not mean I do not make mistakes. Please let me know if you see any. I am going to post the first few chapters of a story I have been fooling around with. The main character is a bit OP, but completely clueless about his power. This is a fantasy type story, and I may have missed some of the tags. Description Toric thought he was a pretty normal kid, with a normal and boring backstory, but he was wrong. Follow his adventures as he learns the truth about his history, and discovers exactly how very far he has to go in order to embrace his destiny. Life will never be the same after the arrogance of a mage gives Toric an ability that was lost in distant history. Lost for a reason.
