Chapter 5
I woke up because I could feel something approaching us.
Falon:"Get up something's coming!"
Ruby and Drexel immediately jumped up and drew their swords. I drew my short sword and used magic to create a hole to hide Tessa in. Three over grown silver wolves popped up in front of us.
Drexel:"Something's wrong with these wolves there much bigger than they should be!"
I noticed slave collars on them.
*Shit did they find us already!*
Ruby:"Them being bigger just means they're easier targets!"
Ruby rushed towards the closest silver wolf while crossing her blades to create scissors. The wolf tried to jump to evade her, but she was to fast. The blades reached the wolfs neck and in the next second it's head came flying off.
Ruby:"Ha! I got one!"
Drexel:"There are more headed this way!"
The two wolves that were standing a little behind the dead wolf jumped towards Ruby. She was able to dodge and put a long gash down the side of one of them. Drexel leaped in and plunged his rapier into the other ones heart. He took a step back, just barely dodge a claw aimed for his head.
The wolves reinforcements had arrived. This time there were 12 of them and I could sense more coming.
Falon:"Ruby, Drexel get close to me!"
Both Drexel and Ruby jumped back towards me. I immediately created a sphere around us using earth magic trapping us inside.
Drexel:"What's the plan!?"
Falon:"I'm gonna let all the wolves gather around us and hit them with a lightning attack."
Drexel was surprised at what I said. Lightning magic is extremely difficult to use so not many knew how to and even less had enough control over it to use it in battle. I was able to use it but it would drain a lot of my mana since I wasn't born with a natural affinity to lightning magic.
I had to continuously poor mana into the sphere surrounding us to keep it from being destroyed by the wolves. After a few minutes I couldn't feel anymore presences in the woods and I knew all the wolves had gathered around the sphere.
I used earth magic to create a smaller shelter for Ruby and Drexel so that they wouldn't get hit by my attack.
I let down the sphere and discharged lightning into every direction. All the wolves were charred and I was low on mana so I fell to my knees. I took down the small shelter so that Ruby and Drexel could get out. They both rushed over to me.

Ruby:"That was amazing I've never seen a lightning Mage before!"
Drexel:"Your quite powerful. I thought there was only one lightning Mage that is human."
Most lightning mages are either a demon or elf since humans usually don't have enough mana to produce it.
Falon:"I may be able to produce it but controlling it is difficult and it drains most of my mana."
Drexel:"Well most mages can only lightly shock people."
Ruby:"We need to get out of here in case they have any more back up on the way."
Falon:"Yeah Ruby, Drexel go catch the horses for use I need to get Tessa."
Ruby:"sure."
Drexel:"ok."
The two of them dashed off to catch the horses since they were scared and ran away during the fight. I went to the hole and pulled Tessa out. My vision suddenly started to blur and I fell backwards on my butt. My head started hurting really badly and all my joints started to ache.
Falon:"Fuck what's going on!"
Something was wrong, I new it wasn't exhaustion, but before I could think of anything my vision went out and I could only see black. I passed out right there next to Tessa.
After a while I woke up and realized I was on a horse being held by Drexel.
Drexel:"Oh your finally awake you've been asleep for a few days."
I looked around but my vision was still blurry. I could make out Drexels face and I could see the figures of Ruby and Tessa.
Tessa had woken up before me and was riding on her horse with my horse tied to hers. I didn't want to stay in Drexels arms so I jumped off his horse and walked over to mine.
Tessa:"Are you ok?"
Falon:"Im fine how about you. Your heart was destroyed how did you survive that."
I jumped onto my horse, but since everything was still blurry I stayed close to Tessa's horse.
Tessa:"I don't know, but it did make me remember something. My mother told me that the man who raped her was killed, but his body disappeared before they could dispose of it. It's possible that he might have been just like me."
Falon:"Could you tell me more about your mother."
Tessa:"Well there's some important things about her I never told you. She was actually part of the noble family in the elf kingdom, but since she gave birth to a child that was half human they kicked her out. Even though she was raped no one cared so she had to live a small village on the outskirts of the elf kingdom."

Tessa:"Since she was a noble, she had strong nature magic. She helped to grow and protect the crops. She didn't really have any friends in that village since most people wanted to avoid her. She told me I was named after a human woman who was a great hero."
Falon:"I don't know anything about a hero named Tessa?"
Tessa:"My mother told me she read about her in the elven library. She was a very powerful swordswoman that infused her sword with fire magic and fought against the Demon King 200 years ago."
Falon:" Here in the human continent we don't have many records of that battle, so not many people would know about that hero."
Tessa:"So no one even remembers her. Makes me feel kind of sad."
I was curious about that Demon King so I decided to ask.
Falon:"Is there anything else you know about the Demon King from 200 years ago?"
Tessa:"All I know is what my mother told me about Tessa, but she did say that there was some kind of connection between Tessa and the Demon King."
Falon:"What kind of connection."
Tessa:"Some how they used to know each other."
Falon:"How demons don't get along with any other races especially not humans."
I suddenly remembered the white haired Keltor.
*Wait........he was working with a demon.*
I didn't think about the strangeness of a human working with a demon because I was stuck on the fact that it was my old body.
Tessa:"Well that's what my mother said I don't know if it's true."
Falon:"Thanks for telling me."
We continued traveling on that merchants trail for a few weeks until we finally reached the gates of Gart. There was a huge stone wall circling the city of Gart with observation towers every mile or so along the wall. I could see archers looking down at us as we approached the gate. After a while of dealing with the knights stationed at the gate we paid and entered the city.
We decided to stay at an inn since it would take us half a day to get to Vaneth Academy through all the check points. War was coming so knights were everywhere. Some of the knights were out recruiting while others were just on patrol.
We got two rooms one for the boys and one for the girls. We all ate together and went back to our rooms.
Drexel:"Falon looks like we're splitting up tomorrow."
Falon:"I enjoyed traveling with you. What are you planning on doing here."
I knew Drexel was a skilled fighter much more than any average person so I was a little curious about why he was here. War was about to start so he could be planning on being a mercenary.
Drexel:"I'm not sure yet right now I'm just sight seein."
He said that with a big smile on his face.
Falon:"Good luck with your sight seeing."
Drexel:"Thanks."
We went to sleep that night and when I woke up the next morning he was gone. I went down stairs to get some breakfast and saw Tessa and Ruby already eating. Tessa had a small meal while Ruby had three plates in front of her.
Falon:"That's a lot of food Ruby."
She looked up at me.
Ruby:"I need it for energy. I didn't get to eat a whole lot on the journey here so I'm starved."
Falon:"Drexels already left so the group is splitting up now what are you gonna do."
Ruby:"I'll stick with you two for now."
Falon:" Ok. We're headed to Vaneth Academy."
Ruby:"That's the best place to start my search. Some one there has to know her."
Tessa was already done by the time my food arrive, but Ruby finished at the same time as me. We left the inn and we headed towards and enchantment shop.
The three of us went in together. I was looking for a certain kind of enchanted item. When I found them I tried them on and they fixed my blurry vision. The enchanted glasses had a thin frame outlined in black and rectangular lenses. They were very expensive, but since I made all of our money it wasn't a problem.
Ruby told me I looked a lot smarter while Tessa said I looked older. We left that shop and I felt a lot better being able to see clearly, but I was worried as to why my vision got so bad all of a sudden. I had tried many times to fix it with body modification magic, but it went back to normal after a few minutes. I also had aches and pains come and go. I decided that once we reached Vaneth Academy I would have some the specialists there check to see what the problem was.
After passing through all the check points we finally reached Vaneth and I could feel my excitement was showing on my face. I felt like I had finally returned home after a very long journey.
I decided we would enroll here and look for information regarding Keltor and I would assist Ruby in here search too. I pushed my glass up closer to my face and said.
Falon:"I'm back."
