《Nekana, One in Billions, Lost.》Chapter 26 - A Bound to Come Want

She wanted an insecurity for herself. Her beloved would desperately cling onto the warmth of her body. Tears would not stain those cheeks but the evidence of that act in the past would be truth. Cold fingers would touch upon her cheeks, she hears tender whispers: Her name. Said with so much desire and with tinges of sadness and uncertainty. The touch of tender and cracked lips; imperfect and quivering. She would use her own to kiss the other’s forehead, the bridge of their nose and finally, lips. She could not imagine the taste of their first or hundredth. The feeling of guilty bliss; perhaps that was what would remain and be remembered.
Tense shoulders would relax and a hug for every second. Reassuring voices in a calming tone and with glazed expressions. Her beloved would be hers solely. With no one to intrude upon their own little world; escaping from the horrors of it. She recalls the discomfort of a company that consisted of less than one; none.
The lonely had looked from left to right. The scene of seemingly occupied people that filled that scene, each with company of their own. They drifted by so gracefully, the given persons beside them or within a group, ranging from 2-7. They all just seemed so natural. They had conversational topics with them and it came with endless streams of opinions, maybe biased facts. She couldn’t do that, not through the way they did it. When she spoke, it was within silence; and when she desired silence, it was within music.
Her beloved should be the same if possible which, highly was in her opinion. Amongst the millions and billions of people how could there be a lack of variety? It was time and money she deemed the imaginary feet impossible. It didn’t matter, despite all odds; it never did anyway. Satisfied with the mere thought and unfulfilled wish. An unrequited love for the basic virtues she’s always knew were right. Basic exchanges of names, a throw of loving and assuring words. It was twisted but typical. Full of white and whiter lies; mixed with the briefest and sweetest of truths. There was only enough space in a mask for one person but if they were happy, all else may’ve been irrelevant.

Fingers clasps and hands entwined, or was it the other way round? Never had it been, that the simplest acts so sensual; so pure at the same time. The basics didn’t matter at this point. Not the troubles, the money, the definition of a human. None, not during this moment of a million passing words. Eyes glance and take hold of each other’s. They could be shallow for all she cared, secrets that just beg to be spilled through accident or revealed from an unfortunate result where escape is impossible.
These wants, these desires. A love so close to that of a Fairy Tale yet isn’t at the same time. This person needed not even acceptance, a temporary company. No more, no less.
It was so rare, these pair of soulmates. Maybe there, but never for too long.
Nekana was mortified.

Touhou - Journey to the East
If you knew there was a world different from ours, what would you do? [a.] Try to go there. This was the choice on the application form of the so-called "Sealing Club" at my university. I did not know that this marked the beginning of an extraordinary journey. One on which I would experience unimaginable things, see magical places and meet mysterious beings. A journey that would change me forever. This is a fan fiction based on the Touhou Project bullet hell game series created by ZUN. It employs the many colorful and varied characters of these games (who are predominantly female), with some of them having canon personalities, while others are original interpretations. The story is written in first-person, as you may gather from the description above, and has a rather slow pacing - please bear with it. Warning: If you don't like to see your Touhou characters get hurt, emotionally or physically, this is not for you. There will be bloody conflicts.
