《Getting reborn as an Orc》Chapter 9

Shad, Terry, and their prisoners were back in the camp. The skin of the bear was hanging on the camp's defensive sharpened stick wall, and their loot was gathered in a pile near the campfire. Joe asked eyes filled with fear "What are you going to do to us." Then he noticed Terry "Hey you, you are a human, why you are helping this orc?" Terry didn't answer he just turned Leah face down and started fiddling with her ass.
Joe gulps down. Shad says "Don't worry. I am pretty sure he only fucks women." Terry turned to the Shad while molesting the girl "Shad my man, I can sell these people's pieces of equipment in town." Shad said, "I know you are smart chosen one, don't be greedy, if you sell their equipment in town people would start asking questions."
Terry "What about Rosalyn, did you sold her to bandits? How much they paid?" Shad told, "Ten gold." He bought out five golds and give those to Terry.
Terry said "Man, can you give me some loan from your share. Shad my man please?" Shad turned at him with a somewhat surprised face "I am pretty sure five golds a lot of money for a villager like you. Why you need more?"
Terry cleared his throat " Shad my man. I gambled at Setburg, you know. One thing after another I was winning big, but the other side raised the hand more and more, and before I knew it I wagered my parents all three cattle. Which worth around fifteen golds. But if I won I was going to be set for life. So I took the risk. They said If I bring them just ten golds in two weeks they will not take the cows. So my man can you give me your share?"
Shad shook his head and said, "I am wearing my share now." Terry looked at basic lamellar armor. Shad continued "But I can do something for you, two weeks is not a short time. But first, you need to do something for me." Terry "What is it?" Shad "I want you to join adventurers guild in the nearest town, I assume it is in his Setburg you talk about right?"

Terry "Yes, Setburg is the only town around these parts." Shad said, "I want you to join there." Terry turned to Shad, he had a serious look on his face "My guess these two are here to make me breakthrough so I can be tier one and join the guild, right." Shad nodded.
Terry looked uncomfortable and started to talk "Look man, my grandpa was a soldier a tier two spearman. He retired and got land in the village as a reward from the king himself.
He decided he didn't want his grandson which is me to be a farmer like his son. He decided I must be a soldier like him. The farmland was his so my father or mother didn't say anything against his wishes.
I didn't want anything to do with it but he forced me and teach me how to use a spear from age of ten. I hated every moment of it when I was thirteen he died from sickness and I finally got away from those painful training exercises and bruise inducing "mock" fights."
Shad looked at him "Why you are telling me all this?" He said "I had my natural breakthrough when I was fifteen. I am already tier one but no one knows this do you know why?"
Orcs didn't need to be trained to have natural breakthroughs up to tier 2, they just needed to grow into an adult. Humans on the other hand didn't get natural breakthroughs unless they were trained when they were young.
Shad was very surprised "You are saying me when I threatened you with my blade you were much stronger than me, strong enough to beat me unarmed and did nothing?"
He started to laugh. He got to the loot pile, he got the shield of the warrior they poisoned. And then get long wooden blunted spear from first boar hunt of Shad.
Terry said "So you are tier one now huh. My spear skill is 2.3 and my job-related stats all above 1.5 So do your worst. I can easily beat you even with this pice of a crap spear."

Shad still can't believe what he was hearing jumped the man. Terry read his move like a book, took his stance, raised his spear, and while Shad was in the air two sabers raised he stabbed him with the dull spear. Shad fall to the ground.
Fall smiled, he understands he was outclassed and Terry was telling the truth. But he needed some fighting experience. So he just lunched some stone against Terry from behind with his telekinesis magic.
Terry got hit, but he was a warrior with high toughness and vitality. So he didn't even flinch but this was just a distraction. Shad moved fast and he was just a foot away from Terry. But Shad fly back with a shield bash.
Shad grinned with enjoyment, and just about to begin his next attack. Terry just dropped his weapons.
Shad baffled by this move asked, "Why?" Terry spoke "You, you are like my grandpa, he enjoyed this thing too. You got beaten, bruised by yet you continued attacking. Why? Because to you, this is the way to be strong right. Learn and develop your melee skills.
But you and my grandpa didn't understand one thing. He was a big deal in the village, he was the guy people begged for help when goblins kidnaped their daughters and wives. Or when bandits rob them. But he was nothing against a tier-three knight. He told this himself to me.
So why bother? Why risk your life. Why this sick enjoyment you get from challenges?
I hide my power because if you are a young person who is tier-one and you are not an adventurer you will be levied to the army in times of war. I don't want a life of struggle and danger. I want to relax and live my life.
Shad asked, "What about the tugs in town, can't you just beat them and not give any money?" He laughed "First if I did that everybody would have known what I am hiding. No king or queen unless they are absolutely desperate to levy a tierless to their army.
But if you are a tier-one and above person you got excepted from some taxes and you got levied to the army in times of war.
Also, do you think thugs would have been able to run their gambling dens and brothels if any adventurer couldn't pay their debts? There are organizations like black hand assassins who provide their services to the criminals. So even if you are strong you can't go out and act like you are invincible. Or you just got killed eventually."
Shad nodded "But why you just not kidnapped Rosalyn yourself then? You had no problem killing her, you could have your way with her then kill her." Terry said "If you didn't advise me to be around people when you kidnaped her I wouldn't agree to kidnap. I was guaranteed to get scot-free. That's why I am working with you, I do things I want to without any risk. If I had to take risks I won't do those."
Shad said "You don't need to take any risks, you just need to pretend to be an adventurer. Feeding me information while I am dealing with adventurers. And you said it, adventurers are examped from getting levied.
You are just going to feed me information and get your money. No real risk involved."
Terry shook his head. "What about the adventure missions, if I take none that would be suspicious." Shad said "You take some and I will deal with those too. You just need to be my eyes and ears in the guild."
Terry finally agreed. They returned to the camp proper.
Terry started to gather equipment from the pile. Shad said, "Don't take anything easily recognizable or in any way marked." Terry said, "I know." Terry grabbed all the money in the pile "I throw away my grandpa's spear I am going to buy one." Shad knew Terry was lying and Terry knew Shad knew he was lying. But neither one spoke up about it. Then Terry left.
