《Magnum Opus》1.8

Stepping out of the lavatory, I caught sight of a glowing red sphere heading towards Alfred. It was obviously a tracking spell, probably orb-H1 from the looks of it. Madison came running up to us slightly out of breath. She said, " I made it halfway there when I realized I forgot to see what your clothing size was." Bopping herself, she said, "Hey… those aren't the clothes you were wearing earlier. Alfred if you had clothes for him, why did you make me run halfway across the West End?"
Alfred's silent response was her only reply. Embarrassingly, she said, "Well, I guess I didn't give you a chance did I. "You know what who cares, Kyles cleaned up and has clothes." She said. Turning around and raising her arm, She said, "Let's head to the tavern to get some grub." Once again headed through the streets and alleyways of Free city. I honestly think you'd have to have been born here, to be able to navigate its twists and turns without magic or a guide.
Reaching what I assume is the place we're eating at, after fifteen or so minutes of fast-paced walking. Turning to me, Madison proudly said, "Welcome to Milken's tavern, while not the highest class tavern they definitely take the top spot for diversity and friendliness!" Leading us through the busy tavern. "Yes I'm so lucky, this is my favorite spot, it's the best for quick service, plus it has a great view for people watching," she said finally picking a table. Sitting down, I couldn't stop my mouth from salivating the smells floating through the air, were delicious.
The tinkle of silverware against our plates were the only signs food had been at the fable. I didn't think I could feel any better after that shower I was wrong. Smiling at Madison, I said, "Thank you for the food, Madison, it was delicious." Returning my smile with a content look, She said, "It's not a problem, I'm happy you enjoyed the food."

Our conversation was interrupted as a small group of people came over. The tall brunette smiled and said, "Madison, Alfred, I haven't seen you guys in forever. How have you been?" Getting up and hugging the brunette Madison said, "Oh my gosh Amber, it's been too long, we're doing good, how about you?" Looking back at her group, Amber said, "You guys can go on ahead. I'll ketchup later." They gave a weird salute and left the tavern. I wonder if they are soldiers of some sort, I thought. "I've been good, finally managed to land my own troupe." Amber said, turning back to us.
"Congratulations, I'm not surprised you were always a hard worker. Come, come, take a seat, we have so much to ketchup on." Madison said, waving at the seat across from her. "I'd love to but I can't, we were just on a small break since we had to pick some things for Maria. We were already going to cut it pretty close as is, getting back to North port. But we definitely need to meet up, here's my new address." Amber said, pointing at the table, as her necklace glowed and a small card appeared on its surface.
Watching her walk away, without even acknowledging my presence at the table, left me feeling very awkward. "Who was that? She seems… kinda rude." I said, turning to Madison. Emotionally she said "That was Amber Lampar, we used to hang out a lot before she officially became a junior guild member, of the adventurer guild Aquamarine. Their one of the leading forces in North port, they do a lot of work with Sundry Chamber as well. No, she's just really focused, always has been." Uncertainly I said, "If you say so." That explains there blue and grey uniforms, but I still think she's rude, I thought. "Good, okay, let's head out, there are so many cool things I want to show you." She said, heading towards the counter to pay.

The crowded streets lined with busy storefronts made a chaotic medley of constant movement and chunks of unmoving stillness. I couldn't tell if it was the time of day that caused or if we just in a busy part of the city. Madison had been dragging me through so many stores, that I'm not even sure how long we've been walking.
Coming to a quiet storefront that was definitely off the well-traveled street. Madison said, "This is Perfect potions, while not well known by most people, it's one of Free cities best alchemical apothecaries. Instead of mass-producing potions, or making potion people order, they make tailored potions." Now, this is a shop that I can actually find interesting, not having so many people crowding around is definitely a plus.
As we walked in, a tall, broad-shouldered man said, "Welcome to Perfect potions, but I'm sorry to say, we're not taking any new orders right now." Glancing up from whatever he had been reading, He said, "Oh Madison, it's you, what can I do for you today." Smiling, she said, "Nothing Sheen, I'm just showing my new friend, Kyle around and how could I not show him the best alchemical apothecary in the city." With suspicion, clearly written on his face he said "Ya right flattery, while I agree we're are the best. Try again, what do you really want Madison?"

The Undead Revolution
This was my first attempt at writing a story, in hiatus indefinitely. This story follows Silvy, half-elf, a rare race despised by both humans and elves. Having never met her father, the first years of her life were spent together with her mother, who had to leave her native village because of the blasphemy she had committed by giving birth to Silvy. At the age of eight, Silvy became an orphan and was left to fend for herself. Her mother had died of illness, Silvy’s life turning upside down: the child went from living in a modest but cozy home with poor but daily meals to live outside the walls in the slums, where crime was commonplace and food was scarce. Luck had yet to abandon her completely though, because a group of orphans like Silvy decided to help, integrating her into their group and teaching the tricks of the trade; that is, stealing and swindling. But fate had not yet finished playing with her. Kidnapped and frightened, her life will turn upside down again when she awakens as undead, but still able to think clearly.

An Unwavering Craftsman
Given the hereditary nature of classes, everyone expects Damien—the child of two high-tiered adventurers—to be granted a high-tier combat class of his own. Expectations are betrayed, however, when Damien finds himself instead saddled with a crafting class of the lowest possible tier: [Neophyte Tailor]. Left practically crippled compared to those with better classes, Damien wants to avoid becoming a pawn in the machinations of the nobility, desiring only to grind his level in peace while wondering why the usual rules of inheritance were broken. Was it his desire to excel by his own effort, rather than an unearned blessing from a god? Did the Five take offence at his opinions on the unfairness of hereditary classes? Or maybe it was something to do with the alien voice that intruded on his ceremony? A voice that offers great power, and freedom from the tyranny of the Five, but that never names its price. This story is litRPG-lite. While the class someone possesses controls most of their lives, people don't get dinged at for every level they gain, nor can they see their status without undergoing a special ritual. The MC has no romantic interest. Crafting is merely a way to game the system, and doesn't feature heavily in the story, aside from a few descriptions on how they're carrying out the system abuse. There is, on one unfortunate occasion, maths. The pace is quick. This was a participant in the Spring 2022 writathon. (i.e. it was posted as-written at high speed. I may give it another editing pass in the future.)
