《Pasted Gunner》#8-Recon (2) and Ambush

I was staring at the village like a stupid for a while.
"Nah. Time to move" I whispered silently.
My plan was easy, draw the village and its main points from every world direction. The map didn't help a lot because the village on the map is mostly blocked by the rock and you can't see type and height of palisade.
So I began from East. East perimeter encompassed something like warehouse, crafting place and two watchtowers. I equipped pencil and piece of paper and with the best precision possible (for me) sketched a picture of the village. When the picture was done, I went to the North. My legs were moving quietly in order to not attract any unwanted attention. I sneaked trough the forest and found several propitious bushes which would be good recon position.
The North sector contained high cliff with watchtowers on both sides. Between towers was some big, unknown building.
I continued like this with East and South.
Eastern part was main entrance, well defended and with the well-made walls.
Behind then was big campfire, probably main square and maybe even armory. That makes sense to place weapons to the place where you can easily pick them up, if your only enemies are animals.
The square fluently continued to Southern accommodation part.
It was something made from wood and leather, partially hidden under ledge and partially inside a small cave.
I was resting and eating some smoked meat, not tasty, absolutely not tasty, but better than some specific meals which you could get in school mess hall.
I wondered what should I do.
Retreat for now, make more observation or something else? No, I won't retreat now, but I think I don't need to observe that damned village anymore.
No, I know exactly what should I do.

I'll be preparing for attack about month and I really don't need any unwelcome visitors. So I'll entice them away from my camp. And the best method to do so is ambush some group of their hunters or something like this.
[Location...ehmm, if I attack in side opposite of my camp, they could think there are two enemies. So be it North or South]
In the end, I decided for North. The forest there was less dense and it will be better.
2,5 hours later
I was following this path for good two hours and still nothing.
Then I suddenly seen a movement.
I carefully and quietly peeked from behind of tree and saw them. There were four goblins sitting in the path with dead boar nearby. This should be their hunting group, which is probably resting.
They are not equipped well, maybe some grunts collecting prey from traps. They have just javelin and one of them has big spear, ideal to kill pig.
Interesting is that, they probably have something like language but my [Universal language] doesn't translate it.
Whatever, let's slaughter.
[Fuck, I am starting to be creepy]
I equipped my crossbow, which was already loaded, I just took a good posture, aimed, unlocked it and shot.
Clang* [Yes, direct headshot]
I temporarily turned off notifications, so it won't disturb me.
The bolt stopped itself inside its head and the goblin fell down. The others had instantly jumped up picking up their weapons. But seen nothing as I was already hidden.
I didn't even try to pull the crossbow, because I already know I am too weak to do so quickly and quietly. I just put it back, observing how the crossbow disappeared. Goblins were already coming close to my tree.
I was in temptation to throw there small explosive surprise, but I knew I'll need them in the extermination.

I slowly unsheated my knife from vest.
I like my knife, it's hand-made, but the steel is very quality. It isn't tactical one and it's guard gives it look like a sword.
And they'll soon know how deadly it is.
I heard footsteps coming close to my tree.
The tip of javelin came to my view and then whole goblin. It couldn't even notice me, when I have already stabbed whole twenty centimeters of blade into its neck. Then I tore the blade out, while cutting through its neck.
The blood burst out like a crazy and due to the shock was that thing dead before it even fell down. But it didn't happened, because I caught its clothing and quietly put it down.
[Fuuh, nobody knows anything]
I peeked again and seen just one goblin to the left nearby the path. The third one should be somewhere behind bushes.
I picked up it's javelin and threw it at the visible one. However, it missed.
As I saw it missed, I sprinted at the still surprised goblin, holding knife in reverse grip, blade aiming outside.
I slashed at him from left to right (cuz I'm left-handed), but he blocked it in time. The knife was deep in the javelin's wood. I grabbed the javelin by my other hand and knee-kicked the goblin into abdomen. Then I released my knife from javelin and stabbed the creature into its groin. And then again and again. Ultimately, I finished it by hitting it into its forehead by blunt side of knife, which sent it unconscious.
I watched how was the blood slowly leaking from three holes in its body.
I suddenly felt wave of discomfort from my back, so I turned only to see javelin flying at me.
I don't know how, but I somehow matrixed and evaded just in time.
"Fuck, fuck you"
I swear I felt the gust of wind as it flew just centimeters far away from me.
And as it happened, I picked up javelin of still-not-dead goblin and threw it too.
However, it matrixed too.
I could have run and try to kill it, but I rather hid myself behind the closest tree and loaded my crossbow.
I peeked only to see uncovered goblin with javelin ready to throw.
"Dear evolution, thanks for its stupidity"
I quickly aimed and shot.
This time, goblin didn't matrixed, just lifelessly fell to the ground.
I turned on notifications again.
"You killed Goblin spearmen(x4) 115xp.
Level up. Received blueprint: Leather craft"

The Ancient Core: A Progression Fantasy
The title of [The Ancient One] is bestowed upon an unassuming, forgotten Core. Hidden deep underground, it lies in wait, biding its time as it learns the rules of its surroundings. Roaming beasts and unknown threats surely threaten the little rock as it sticks to the darkness, its one true refuge. This is a slow-burning Dungeon-Core fiction with a LitRPG-System. You can expect an extreme amount of kingdom-building, an more in-depth Mana-System, and a Evolution-System. Chapters are between the length of 2-4k words, though the first 50 will likely be closer to 4k. Anything after will have the average be 2.5k. I personally like explaining how things work a lot, so do have that in mind if you decide to read this fiction. A Mildly Odd Reality Breaker
Omar receives an unexpected visitor who comes baring a gift—a "registration ticket"—in the form of a small metal card. The ticket is itself an offer to participate in the game, "Reality Break." Accepting this offer means that Omar will be able to perceive the true nature of reality where there is not one, but two dimensions of time, and in this second dimension history changes (and somewhat "frequently"). Along with this, he will also gain access to the "chronopause"; another reality that is not so much parallel to our own as it is perpendicular, which acts as both a place and the natural boundary between non-sequential points on the timeline. Using the chronopause, Omar will become a chrononaut with the ability to travel through time, and as a player, he will be given a cybernetic interface and his own portable extradimensional storage space. It's a strange conversation, but due to Omar's dismally short attention span, he only consciously hears that last bit about the portable pocket space, and that's only after the physics-defying void is opened in his living room and literally waved in front of his face. Reality is certainly stranger than most people realize, but then again, so is Omar. Thankfully, he responds well to shiny things, and for better or for worse, his chronic inattentiveness is the least of his psychological issues. Omar also has a mild form of "Oppositional Defiant Disorder" which presents itself as an occasional, arbitrary need to disobey others (especially authority figures). However, his oddest psychological issue by far is his "abnormally hyperactive" subconscious mind. Outwardly and consciously, Omar is a lazy, apathetic man-child prone to mildly asinine behavior. Subconsciously, he's some sort of genius capable of extraordinary feats of cognition. Most of the time, Omar is a (technically) functioning adult, but in order to live as such, he must rely entirely upon unusual abilities he's completely unaware of, despite the fact that he uses them regularly. Up until now, his life had merely been ridiculous, but now it was also a game. Note: The narrative style is that of a reliable narrator with a "3rd-person sarcastic" POV. This story takes place in the Reality Breakers/Chronopause universe.
