《Dragons Dogma: Chaos & Order》Chapter 4: Fae Tribe

Nezintic grumbled as her empty stomach woke her up rather abruptly. It was time to hunt and eat ... but she didn’t want to do that.
Again, her stomach growled.
“Okay, time to go hunting.”
“Wait.”
Nezintic stopped and looked over her back.
“Yes, Imp Shin” The fae hatchling addressed the Imp that showed the most progress out of all of them.
“I request to take me with your Majesty!”
“Why?”
Imp Shin POV
I needed to get strong. So the seventh day after my birth, or so I was told that it was, I went out into the world to explore. I first thought that the world was going to be awesome! The Old Imp talked about the kind elves and, while different but still nice fairies!
Then I saw ... a murder. It was a dark elf with a struggling fairy in his hand. With an evil grin, he ripped the fairy’s wings off, talking about the wings being some kind of an ingredient, and left the fairy to die. I tried to help, but the fairy still died anyway.
Then I saw a goblin that looked very different from my brothers and sisters doing cruel things to other creatures as well.
I don’t want other nice creatures like fairies, and us imps to be hurt by those humans or anyone else. I wanted to get strong. No, I needed to get strong. I would protect this forest from them!
That and I want to make our Queen proud!
She is simply amazing, powerful, and beautiful. She even took on bears, wolves, and a small monster thing!
It was amazing, so I ended up stalking her and got caught. But for some reason, she told me to stop following her and eat the meat. To which I did.
Every she looked stronger, smarter, and shinier. It was the reason why I decided to follow her around, even if I had to sneak around behind her. I wanted to be strong like our Queen.
No, I will become stronger!
“Yes, my Queen.”
“You will follow my orders and will not talk at any point of any time, understand? Ash, you’re coming with us! Come here now!”
Nezintic wasn’t asking Imp Shin his opinion. As the ruler of this unnamed tribe, she can communicate with all the members by telepathy.
Imp Shin nodded.
“I was just getting to the good part Sis.”
“Are you making me ask again?”
“Comming!” came the hurried replay by Nezintic older brother.
Day 36:
“You two will hunt something bigger today.”
“Why not? We only almost lost my head yesterday.”
“I hope it’s meat, sis.”
Day 37:
“My Queen. Just hunting rabbits is good enough! I don’t need to track a Bascus Pitvipers! “
“But Shin.”
Day 38:
“I respected you, my lord, but now I hate you!” Imp shouted at the male hatchling.
“Don’t say that! This is fun!”
“Fuck you too! I don’t find running from wolves any more ‘fun’ than eating their shit!”

Nezintic had to admit. In the span of two weeks and then some, Imp Shin and her older brother had seen some personality changes.
For example, Shin used to be shy, timid, and stalkerish. He always tried to imitate Nezintic and wanted to improve himself every day. He tried to appear as confident as others told Nezintic seemed to be like.
Now, though, Imp Shin was nothing like that anymore. His imitation of Nezintic had died a little, but he was no longer timid and shy, nor was he a stalker. Instead, he stated what was on his mind when it seemed appropriate and had a sense of self that grew bigger each day. “No, I don’t want to go on another round of ‘wolf chase.’ Remember last time? No, I’m not going just because you asked me.”
Nezintic couldn’t be more proud of Imp Shin.
But saying no to her was still a suicidal thing to do.
On the other hand, her brother seems to have gone more wild as of late.
Gone was the moron. Ashteumax is now an extremely brash, confident, and self-willed dragon. Who desires to become a samurai.
“Ok, maybe Ashteumax is still a moron, but at least he is useful now.” Nezintic thought. Her brother wanted to become one because of the books they found on patrol.
“Brother, it’s time for patrol.” She called out for her brother. The hatchling didn’t know why but something felt weird.
... Nezintic felt on edge.
There was only one reason for it: the forest was silent. It was like the calm before the storm.
She had to be really appreciative of her high WIS because, so far, it has been doing her good. Helps to teach foolish imps and goblins all day without killing them.
But now, it was like something else was going on. It was not anything natural of this forest.
It was like ... something was coming into the forest.

Clairvoyance
You create an invisible sensor within range in a location familiar to you (a place you have visited or seen before) or in a prominent area that is unfamiliar to you (such as behind a door, around a corner, or in a grove of trees). The detail and depth of each usage will depend on LvL, higher the better.
Nezintic blinked. “Fascinating.”
And she used it.
The stoic leader felt her mana disappeared in one go and even took some of her stamina as well. Her vision swam before sharpening and focusing. She calmly observed as she saw -even with her eyes closed!- the forest around her.
It expanded and expanded and expanded without stop until ...
What were those?
She could see them on the edge of the forest. It was big and thick. It had pig-like noses and ears, grayish skin, coarse hair, stooped postures, a low forehead, a large muscular body, and a porcine face that featured lower canines that resembled boar tusks. About 1.8 meters tall and without equipment, Nezintic guesses they weigh about 130kg by how much muscle it has.
Traveling with him is a primitive-like race of frog-like humanoids with webbed digits. Their hides were smooth and reasonably tough, with mottled coloration ranging from emerald, olive green, yellow, brown, and gray.
“Time for some reconnaissance.”
The elf hunters began to listen to their strongest comrade on how to trap elves. Nezintic watched them closely from the top of the tree and took in every word of what they were speaking. Their tone and language were quite rough. They made guttural noises while talking, which Nezintic could understand thanks to her mother. On the other hand, her goblin minion couldn’t understand a thing and simply scratched his head in confusion.
“Alright, fellas, now I want you guys to step back a little, and I will show you the simplest trap,” the strongest elf hunter declared, as he retrieved a rope from his leather pocket and swinging it quickly, he flung it over the branch of a tree that stood nearby. Immediately, he used his sharp feet and hands to climb and tree, and on reaching the top, he fastened the rope to the branch as quickly as he could and descended.

His trainees gasped in awe at his agility and technique, and their eyes widened in admiration.
“Now, since the rope has been fastened tightly against the branch, we need to spread it on the ground and cover it with leaves and twigs,” he explained, as he made a circular knot with the rope, then spreading a relatively large net over it, he began to throw dozens of leaves and twigs onto it which concealed it from the eyes of any living creature.
“The trap is set now; all that needs to be done is to use something as a bait. Can anyone tell me what elves are attracted to? Something that we can use as bait to catch them?” the creature asked his trainees. The trainees, however, looked utterly perplexed at the question and could merely glance at each other in confusion. Their trainer shook his head and rolled his eyes in disappointment, and uttered loudly,
“Elves love berries and apples among other fruits!”
Saying that he took out two pieces of fresh juicy apples from his leather pocket and carefully placed them on top of the leaves and twigs. Then, he proudly looked at the trap with his chest thrown open and instructed the trainee Bullywugs to hide themselves behind the tree.
“All we need to do now is wait for a few elves to approach. They will be here any minute,” the trainer Ork informed them as they peeped at the trap from behind the tree.
“But sir, how are you so sure that elves will arrive?” a small Bullywug with a crooked nose inquired innocently.
The trainer Ork sighed at his stupidity and snapped slowly,
“They will surely arrive because elves have a strong sense of smell, and that will attract them to the fruits we have placed!”
As they waited for the elves to arrive, Keraunos began to laugh loudly,
“Shh!” Nezintic hissed at him furiously. “What’s so funny, you idiot?”
He stopped chuckling and replied,
“These ugly slimy creatures are so stupid, they think that the elves would simply get into their trap,”
Nezintic rolled her eyes in annoyance and gritted her teeth while throwing a dirty look at her foolish goblin, whose expression turned sober immediately under her gaze. Like Keraunos has any right to call anyone ugly.
Keraunos is the size of a human child with a bald head and green skin, such as the average, typical goblin. He also has completely white eyes.
But at least Nezitnic will admit her goblins are not that ugly.
“I am sorry, Boss,” Keraunos apologized serenely. “Won’t happen again,”
As the hatchling turned her gaze back towards the single Ork and Bullywugs. She noticed that the elves had indeed arrived onto the scene by getting attracted to the exotic smell of the juicy apples, which she could smell as well.
Two cute young elven children had arrived onto the scene. Their ears were slightly pointed as well, and their eyes were sparkling as they began sniffing the area for the place where the exotic smell of apples was coming from. Immediately, their eyes fell on the apples that lay on the twigs placed over them to the trap.
As they began to move towards it, Keraunos began to freak out.
“Boss! Shouldn’t we save them? They are walking right into the trap set by those things!” he asked her frantically. However, she gestured for him to keep quiet and watch.
“I should have not let Ash read them those stupid books. I don’t know who this ‘Oden’ male is, but his books really changed the mindsets of the male members of my tribe.” Nezintic thought.
The innocent little elves reached the apples, and the moment they grabbed the juicy fruits, the net placed below the twigs and leaves came out and trapped them while the rope lifted them into the air along with the net.
The trainee Bullywugs began cheering loudly, and they all came out from behind the trees.
“Sir, you are amazing!” cried one of the trainee Bullywugs, and they all gave him a round of applause.
“Thank you,” said the trainer Ork coldly as they looked at the trapped elves.
“What are we gonna do with these elves, sir” one of the smaller Bullywug piped in.
“These pathetic elves are going to be our slaves for the rest of their lives. They will have to do everything we command them to do. And if they refuse, we shall kill them!”
The innocent little elves had tears in their eyes, and they began to weep slowly. Their innocent faces could bring mercy into the hearts of any magical creature except for the Ork and Bullywugs who hated them.
The strongest Ork began to pull the trap down and was just going to get his filthy hands on the innocent creatures when Nezintic flapped her wings loudly and descended on the ground along with her goblin minion.
“Not so fast evil creature!” she shouted, throwing a furious look at them, which startled the rest of the Bullywugs. “Before you get your dirty hands on these innocent creatures, you have to go through me!
Nezintic also made the note to beat up Ashtemaux for those damn books! So now she is acting like some hero.
“And me too!” cried Keraunos, who came tumbling down on the ground.
The strongest and most ugliest Ork clenched his fists angrily at the fae creatures.
“Get out of here, stupid baby dragon! You too, handsome goblin,” he demanded, gawking at them sharply. “You have no business here! Go hunt some rabbits or birds!”
His statement had an electrifying effect on Nezintic, as the blood was rising to her head.
Keraunos looked at the leader Ork, disgusted at being called handsome by him. “I-I-I don’t like the way you’re looking at me.”
“Don’t you dare call me a baby dragon again!” she growled at him, which made the younger Bullywugs shake with fear, but their trainer gazed back into her fierce eyes fearlessly.
“What shall I do then? Be afraid of you?” he scoffed loudly, continuing to place his hands over the trapped elves. “Go away from here hatchling, and let us do our work,”
That was too much for Nezintic, who let out a roar of fury and pounced on the Ork. However, her claws weren’t as strong yet, so the Ork managed to free himself and pushed her aside.
“Okay, baby dragon, if that’s what you want, then let’s get done with this now!” he shouted, and both the magical creatures began to rush towards each other fiercely.
Meanwhile, the other Bullywugs cowered and began to run away from Keraunos, who was confused about the action he should take. Then he suddenly decided to catch them, and so he began to run immediately and chased them.
Nezintic and the Ork were on the verge of collision when the cunning Ork jumped over the hatchling and threw a handful of black powder on the baby dragon’s eyes. The black powder had a revolting effect on the dragon’s eyes, and she began to screech loudly due to the horrible stinging sensation that it had on her.
The Ork smirked viciously and stood there with his arms folded while the hatchling writhed in excruciating pain.
“Never underestimate the power of an Ork, dragon,” he exclaimed as he stared at her ruthlessly. “We are the evilest magical creatures, and we have our own powerful tricks up our sleeves that any other magical creature only dreams about. For example, the powder that I threw on your eyes is a powerful formula that delivers the stinging effect of twenty bees!” he told him with a mirthless laugh.
“You accursed piece of filth!” she cursed insanely while continuing to rub her eyes roughly. “You will pay for this atrocious act! I will skin you alive!
The Ork began to yawn mockingly at her statement and started stamping her tail hard. Nezintic let out a pitiful cry of pain, but the Ork didn’t stop and continued to inflict tremendous pain on her. The innocent elves, who were still trapped inside the net, watched the torture from the sidelines and could simply sympathize with the baby dragon.
The Ork stopped torturing Nezintic, and his eyes moved towards the elves again.
“I could relish torturing you the entire day, dragon. But it’s been a long day, and I have some business to attend to, so excuse me for now,” he said sarcastically and grabbing the elves’ net, he carried them on his back and began marching away from the hatchling.
In the interim, Keraunos ran hither and thither in search of the remaining Bullywugs who seemed to have hidden somewhere.
“Where are those nuisances!” he said to himself as he leaned against a tree. “They had gone straight into the woods, and now I just seem to have lost them. Keraunos seemed to be confused and getting frustrated with himself.
“Man, I am so dumb and useless!” he lamented, looking down on the ground. “Boss is so brave, confident, and intelligent; if she was here, she could have easily sniffed those repulsive whateva’s easily!”
As he continued to stand about, the Bullywugs appeared on top of a towering branch above him.
“What shall we do now?” one of them demanded slowly, staring at the tall goblin fearfully.
“Either we can wait for him to move, or we could attack him,” suggested another Bullywug who seemed really sagacious and brave.
“Are you out of your mind?”
“No!” he said wittily and retrieved a medium-sized stone from his leather pocket and showed it to them. “Watch and learn, my friends,”
Saying that he aimed the stone at the male hatchling’s head and threw it with immense force at him. The rock hit Keraunos squarely on the back of his head, and he let out a tremendous cry of pain and fell onto the ground. The Bullywugs cheered loudly and applauded him excitedly. They descended the tree, and moving towards Keraunos, they patted his back lightly to see whether he was conscious.
However, he was knocked out cold and lay motionlessly on the ground.
“Hurray! We did it!” the Bullywug cheered loudly. “Sir would be so happy with us! He will definitely be proud of us!”
They were about to leave the tall goblin when one of the sagacious stopped them in their tracks suddenly.
“Wait! I think we should hold him captive and take him to our tribe,”
“Are you crazy? If he regains consciousness in the middle, he will kill us all!”
The wise Bullywug contemplated for a few seconds, and an idea flashed in his head.
Immediately, he searched through his pocket and retrieved a rope too.
Looking at the rope with immense pride and glee, he began to tie the tall goblin with it and clamped his mouth as well.
“There! Even if he regains consciousness, he won’t be able to do anything!”
The Bullywugs praised him greatly, and then they dragged him away to their tribe.
In the meantime, Nezintic writhed in intense pain on the ground and finally managed to rub the effects of the stinging powder off her eyes which had turned completely red and puffy.
Nezintic started panting heavily with intense fury and roared loudly, which caused the birds nearby to fly away frightfully. Nezintic was stoically quite aggressive and egoistic for a baby dragon, and she couldn’t bear any act that would make her question her ferocity.
“You pathetic pieces of scums! I am coming to get you!” she calmly bellowed and breathed lighting from her mouth for the very first time. “You messed with the wrong dragon, filthy creatures!”
Ding! You Have Unlocked A Racial Ability From [Faerie Dragon] +[Lighting Breath]
Lighting Breath
Racial ability allows expulsions of biologically created [Ice] from glands near the Lungs. The User can generate and manipulate electricity within them to enable them to shape the exhaling of the effect. These shapes can include bursts, streams, spheres, bolts, lasers, and even a mist of it from the mouth. This can be ignited via [Magic].
Saying that, she began flapping her wings as fast as she could and began to soar high into the sky to hunt the Ork and Bullywugs down.
“Where in the world is my stupid goblin! I should have thrown him away then and there. Utter piece of useless trash. Filthy coward!” she cursed under breath.
Using her sharp vision, she scanned the entire area and paid attention to the faintest of sounds that she could hear. She moved further ahead, but there was no sign of the Ork or Bullywugs. Night fell, and there was pitch-black darkness all over the place. However, the hatchling’s multi-colored stripes glowed gracefully in the evening. She appeared even more beautiful than she did during the day.
She had traveled nearly a mile from the river bank when she heard guttural noises about twenty meters away from the woods.
“That’s it! I have found them!” she apathetically roared and zoomed towards a massive clearing in the woods. Upon reaching the area, she noticed a small colony of Bullywugs seated on rocks and ordering elves to do their biddings, such as serving them dead meat and drinks. Some of the elves washed the Bullywugs’ dirty dresses and were smacked around by the repulsive creatures for being slow.
In the corner of the clearing, she was shocked to discern her stupid goblin imprisoned in a large box enclosed by metal rods. Keraunos was growling bitterly while clutching the rods and shaking them.
“There he is, my minion who had to get himself captured! What a dumbo!” she remarked and decided to adopt a strategy to destroy their colony and kill the ugly creatures.
Noone captures her minions and lives!
She scanned the entire area wisely and contemplated the possibilities thoroughly. Then, suddenly, a brilliant idea flashed in her head.
“If I divert these dirty creatures’ attention by lighting a fire nearby, they will move towards it, and I will free Keraunos, and then I can kill them all!”
Acting upon her plan, she gradually descended on the ground twenty meters away from their colony. Then making a substantial effort, she inhaled deeply through her mouth and tried to breathe lighting, but nothing came out. So she tried again intensely but in vain.
“Come on, Nezintic! You can do it! You are small, but you are extremely powerful!” she affirmed to herself, and placing tremendous pressure on her small lungs, she finally managed to let out small streams of lighting onto the ground.
“Yes!” she punched the air in victory and flew away to hide behind a towering tree.
Nothing happened for a few minutes. Then, abruptly, the Bullywugs’ nostrils caught the intense smell of fire, and they got off their stony seats.
“Something’s burning!” one of them announced, and they all rushed towards the fire site. Instantaneously, Nezintic took the opportunity to fly down towards her the growling goblin.
The tall goblin jumped with joy seeing his Boss and his Queen.
“Boss, you are here to save me!”
“Just shut up, you idiot! I have to free you,” Nezintic glared at the goblin. “You are going personal training from me when we get home!”
Keraunos gulped loudly and nervously said, “But the key to this cage is with one of the Bullywugs, Boss.”
She rolled her eyes and slammed her forehead in annoyance. Then without wasting a single second, she lashed out her tail and gripped the metal rods, and broke them.
“You are amazing Boss!” he exclaimed, trying to give her a hug but she waved it away.
“Just listen to me. The moment those soon to be dead things arrive, we are going to pounce on them and kill them one by one,”
“But Boss, why don’t we just escape?”
“You idiot! I want to take revenge on these dirty creatures who messed with me and captured my minion! They will die PAINFULLY for this!”
Keraunos’s smile turned into a resentful frown, and he agreed with her. Nezintic moved her eyes towards the innocent elves and ordered them to run away as fast as they could before the Bullywugs returned.
Finally, the entire colony was clear, and the two fae creatures had positioned themselves behind two trees.
“On my count,” she instructed Keraunos, who nodded obediently. “One….two…three, attack!” she declared. The moment the words came out of her beak, Nezntic flew across the colony and began to throw lightning blasts at the Bullywugs, who were stunned by the ambush.

Nezintic breathed bursts of lighting over the ugly creatures and burnt them to a crisp. At the same time, Keraunos took an ax, lit it on fire, and started cutting, crushing, and setting the huts on fire.
As she went on the onslaught, Nezintic noticed the Ork leader amongst them who had thrown the black powder in her eyes, and with a tremendous roar of fury, she pounced on him.
She lay her claws on his head and shouted,
“I told you I would skin you alive! But I have changed my mind… Instead, I will rip your flesh off and chew on your bones!” saying that she bit into his rough skin ruthlessly, and his painful screams filled the air.
“Have mercy!” he begged, but the furious hatchling didn’t show any. She continued mutilating his body and finally chewed his bones and slew him.

The rest of the Bullywug can only gawk in fear at the human-sized beautiful lighting creature of death. Some were either running away or being set on fire by Keraunos, who had become courageous and gaining some levels. He is now just like his Boss and was fearlessly doing everything that a fierce goblin is known for. Finally, after destroying the entire colony of Bullywugs, Keraunos and Nezintic growled loudly in triumph. They held their claws high in the air.
They both returned to their tribe and narrated the entire incident to their tribe members, who praised Nezintic for her incredible acts of courage and strength. Therefore, The goblins and imps inside the cave were in a row alongside each other as they got on their hands and knees to prostrate before Nezintic. It was quite a surreal sight. Then, they beg her to name their tribe and fully become the leader.
“What do I get from this?”
This was when they either fully submit, or she will kill them except for her brother.
“We will serve you until the end of our days. Now and forever!”
Nezintic stood proudly on the most enormous rock in her area and announced that the name of the tribe should be,
“The Fairies Wings” and the entire tribe cheered on top of their voices and celebrated the whole night of victory.
“Now shut up! You have a training session starting now! In a world of survival of the fittest, strength is everything. So from now on, I’m going to thoroughly drill into your minds that I’m superior to you regardless if you are male or female. You all are going to beg for a death that won’t come!” Nezintic said with an apathetic smile that scared everyone in the Fairies Wings tribe.
“Oh shit!” Everyone thought as one.
