《Purrge》Chapter #9 René

Grand Road, near Ciara Citadel
The demon general was laughing maniacally while watching the whole area around him was getting consumed by the crimson flames, even the ground wasn’t spared and was being consumed by those greedy flames, it all felt to him like he was back in the underworld, just one thing was missing… and that was the screams of the prisoners getting tortured. He continued his laughing for a while, until a thought crossed his mind… why wasn’t anyone screaming?
The demon general knew that his hellfire spell was a high level area of effect spell! It was one of the deadliest spells in his arsenal! And if it burned someone, then it would cause an indescribable pain to him that would make him scream till he died. All of these chaotic thoughts in his mind were clarified the moment he got pierced by an arrow, straight in his chest; the glowing arrow ignored the superior defenses of his Hellsteel armor. It pierced right through the Hellsteel armor and punctured one of his hearts. He roared as his heart got pierced. He then tried to remove the glowing arrow that pierced his chest and burned his left hand in the process.
As he was about to throw the arrow that he removed, another one came flying straight towards him. He quickly dodged it by jumping to his left side, the missed arrow swiftly changed its trajectory and tried to hit him again, watching the arrow change its trajectory and flying towards him, the demon general now quickly assumed an attacking stance and was about to cut the incoming arrow when he saw another arrow coming from his right side! So he dodged them both by jumping backwards. He then slashed one of the homing arrows by his battle axe, but he didn’t get the chance to destroy the other homing arrow as another arrow came from his back; the angry demon general tried to dodge again, but got hit by the arrow coming from the front. He roared as the arrow pierced his left shoulder, the sudden pain caused his fists to clench and as a result he bent the arrow that he was holding in his left hand. For a moment he had forgotten that he was holding an arrow in his left hand, it was mostly due to the fact that he had to dodge all the attacks of the homing arrows nonstop, and all he did was to jump from one place to another without having the time to do anything.

“Grrr! What in hell are these arrows!” he yelled as he angrily threw the bent arrow that he was holding, he then tried to remove the arrow that pierced his left shoulder, but wasn’t able to do so as the arrow that he dodged earlier had again changed its trajectory again and was once more trying to hit him .
Soon two more arrows appeared from his left, while one arrow flew straight towards him, the other one flew towards the sky. The demon general yelled in pain as he tried to dodge the incoming arrow with an arrow stuck on his left shoulder. He badly wanted to remove the arrow that was stuck on his left shoulder, but couldn’t do so, as the homing arrows didn’t gave him a chance to do so; the arrow stuck on his shoulder was still glowing and burning his flesh.
It seemed as if the arrow wouldn’t lose its effects unless and until it was completely removed from his body. The demon general, in his entire lifetime of conquest had seen many weapons… some dissolved in the air, some had the tendency to corrode anything they touched, some weapons confused their targeted enemy… while their wielder attacked them, all those weapons were cheap shot but none of those weapons could compare themselves with this weapon. These arrows were too tenacious! Once these arrows were locked on to a target they chased it until they hit the target or were destroyed while doing so, it also seemed to him as if they were being controlled remotely by someone because one of the arrows that was in the sky, wasn’t trying to hit him. It continuously roamed high in the sky trying to find an opening! Also, these arrows were imbued by holy magic and were inscribed by a high level enchantment that made them lethal. Simply put it was a legendary, convenient, cheap shot weapon, which could be used to kill someone from a safe position without being targeted!

Soon, all of the hellfire flames died out, revealing that the demon general was completely surrounded by the enemy forces that he had tried to kill earlier. Although he consumed a quarter of his total mana, just by using his ‘hellfire’ to kill everyone around him, but miraculously everyone from the enemy forces had survived! No damage had been done to them.
“Holy Phoenix Arrows!”, an archer clad in red robe yelled loudly.
“Arrgh...Excuse me!?!” the demon general spoke, after he dodged the arrows that tried to hit him.
“I thought you’d like to know the name of weapon that would kill you.” The man replied loudly.
“And this is Phantom Bow… by the way I’m Reed Neils but by friends call me René.” The man spoke again while smiling mischievously.
“Did you shot these arrows?” the demon general asked while dodging two holy phoenix arrows that came from both of his left and right side.
“Yes! But I’ve got to admit, you’ve got one hell of armor on you… it was hard to pierce!” René complimented.
The demon general’s temper skyrocketed, when he saw, that the person responsible for puncturing one of his hearts was smiling while retreating behind the crusaders, who now changed their formation to shield him.
“Youuu… I promise… I won’t live in peace until I tear your heart into pieces!” the angry demon general roared as he leapt towards him in rage.
