《Purrge》Chapter #10 Father and Son

Grand Road, near Ciara Citadel
The demon general roared as he leapt towards René in rage, he slashed the holy phoenix arrow coming from his right side with a single precise attack that was hard for someone to believe, as the arrow came from his blind spot. He jumped as he approached the crusaders protecting René. And with the momentum that he generated, he swung down his battle axe at the crusaders, who were holding tower shields. His attack landed on an invisible barrier creating a rift in it.
*BOOM**CRACK* *CRACKLE*
The invisible barrier that protected René and the crusaders shattered, as if it was made up of glass! The crusaders that were inside it changed their defensive positions, all of them created a line while holding up their tower shields, forming a wall of shields, with René standing behind them.
“Wall of steel” all the crusaders activated their group skill to complete their defenses.
On the other hand, the demon general again tried to charge at the crusaders, but got interrupted by the remaining two holy phoenix arrows that flew straight towards him while he was charging at the wall of steel that the crusaders created.
*SWISH**SWOOSH**SWISH*
“I’ve got another present for you!” René shouted in excitement as he threw something at demon general.
*CLANG**CLANG**CLANG*
*BOOOM**BZZT**BZZT*
“Meet Holy Lightning Grenade!”
“Damn! I hate these holy shit equipments the most!” demon general complained as he dodged backwards, as to avoid the blast of the holy lightning grenade.
The demon general easily dodged the holy lightning grenade attack by moving out of its blast radius, but the shockwaves after the blast created a strong gust of wind that pushed him backwards, and that was what René had originally planned for, he quickly controlled both of the holy phoenix arrows and directed them to fly towards the demon lord, while he was being pushed backwards by the strong winds…

The demon general got pushed backwards momentarily by the strong gust of wind, as he tried to stand his ground he saw two holy phoenix arrows approaching towards him, one arrow approaching him from the top while the other from the front, both the arrows were flying faster due to the fact that the strong gust of wind was assisting them. The demon general didn’t wanted to move backwards any further because the crusaders there were using ‘walls of steel’ formation too, and who knows what trap René had prepared for him there.
The demon general knew that it was a critical situation, so he tried another option…
“Dark blast” he roared as he casted another spell.
*BOOM*
The explosion emanated from his body destroyed both of the incoming holy phoenix arrows, it also removed the arrow stuck on his left shoulder and neutralized the strong gust of wind by creating a massive shock wave followed by a strong gust of wind.
“I didn’t thought that you would have another trick in your sleeve, those were the last of the holy phoenix arrows left in the whole continent…”René commented with a pout.
“I guess that I’ll have to use some normal Mythril arrows now…” he sighed as he spoke.
“Not a chance! I won’t give you any time to fire them.” The demon general replied as he leapt at him.
*SPEEW**SPEEW**SPEEW*
“Yeah... Whatever” René replied as he fired three mythril arrows straight towards the demon general in a blink of an eye, just to prove him that he wrong.
The demon general dodged the incoming arrows with ease; he jumped as he reached near the wall of steel made by the crusaders and swung his battle axe with great force.
*YAAAH!*
*BOOM*
The wall of steel collapsed, leaving the crusaders who created it defenseless!

*SLASH**SLASH**SLASH*
The demon general killed the crusaders that stood near him just by a swing of his battle axe.
“Don’t let him approach master René!” a crusader yelled as he parried the attack made by the demon general with his great sword, but soon got blown away by the sheer strength of his next swing.
*THWACK*
“I’m coming for you…” the demon general yelled as he blew away a dozen of soldiers who came at him, He went berserk as he approached René; nothing could stop him… no arrows , no spells… no person! Although René was extremely skilled and clever, but… he didn’t even had a quarter of strength that the demon general possessed. The angry demon general slaughtered anyone brave enough to block his path; soon he stood face to face with his adversary.
“Now it’s time for you to die!” the demon general yelled as he swung his battle axe at René, who tried to parry it with his mythril sword.
*THUD*came the sound that the battle axe made, when it collided with an object that was definitely not a sword!
“I didn’t knew, that the demon general was so weak…” a man replied, who stood in between the demon general Zoro and René.
“Who are you? Get out of my way… or ill slaughter you.” the angry demon general roared as he jumped back.
“Father!” René gasped as he bowed in obedience.
“I told you to practice more with the sword… your posture was incorrect! He would have killed you in a single strike!” the man yelled.
Yes father, your son shall practice more until he masters the way of the sword…” Rene replied with his head still facing downwards.
“But before you do that… you should first try to assist me! Because you know… he is too strong opponent for me… and I think that have provoked him too much!” the man yelled while pointing the demon general.
“Yes father!” René agreed.
“Lord Neils! We want to assist you too…” all the soldiers from the René Company present there yelled in unison.
“Hahaha! This is great… now I can be satisfied even more; first it was the son only, now it’s a father and son combo menu on the platter.” The demon general roared as he activated the special skill of his unique battle axe “Dark Oblivion” and charged straight towards the father and son duo.

Life of a Core
After a disembodied voice had told him he was what amounted to an exceptionally talented rock, it had been hard to not let it go to his non-existent head. Until, random chance had decided to give him a square kick in the minerals. Which had in turn forced him to fend for himself in an unknown land, all while he attempted to make sense of his place in the world. Truthfully though, all he had really wanted to do from the start had been to bury himself a hundred feet below the ground and be left to his own devices. Yet, for one reason or another, nobody ever seemed willing to leave the dungeon-building core alone long enough to actually make one. Each chapter will average around two to three thousand words, the release schedule is still a WIP but you should expect the first six chapters to be released over the next six days. This is planned out as a dungeon building fiction, but don't expect it right off the bat! The story is a depiction of the everyday adventures (alongside an overarching plot) of what I imagine a dungeon core would experience when thrust into a random environment where everything and everyone tried to covet or eat him. I also really enjoy reading the comments and reviews people leave and would love to get some reader involvement with the story itself, likely through polls at the end of each chapter. I hope you enjoy my story! (If you feel like some of the characters seem familiar, you may have read some older work I wrote a while back under a different account. If you happen to be one of my old readers and recognize the similarities, I'm happy to have you back!)
