《Ninth World Lia's Struggle》ch 50

It took a bit longer than expected to reach Olandel than expected. There were to reasons for this and those reasons are walking at my sides. Yes, the two soldiers had to take a short rest for a while and asked me to wait for them. Now, why would I wait for them? They convinced me to do so with a solid argument. If I were to walk into Olandel as is without this two chances are I will get detained by the gate guards. Yes, I could brut force my way through but that would bring a bunch of other problems. In the end, waiting for this two for half an hour or so is not a bad trade. Looking at them I could tell this short rest was not to regain their breaths or anything of the sort.
The two as of now have eaten some dried meat and drank water. That reminds me I haven’t eaten anything for the last 24 hours or so. It is weird but I don’t feel exhausted as for hunger and thirst it is there but not to the point I would say I am hungry or thirsty. Thinking about it I decided to eat and drink as well since I didn’t have anything better to do.
Half an hour later we were back on the road and one hour later we were at the gates of Olandel. Everyone around us looked at me with fear as I nonchalantly dragged five headless corpses around alongside a head hanging on my waste. I could hear them whispering and gossiping about my appearance among other things. Suddenly one of the soldiers accompanying me detached from our group and rushed towards the gate. The other soldier explained that he would tell the gatekeepers to let us pass.
The reason behind this is the fact that my presence seem to be causing quite a bit of distress to the people around. Not only that but the soldier will also call for the guild master to meet us a the gates. This way I wouldn’t have to drag the corpses around town and cause even more distress to the residents.
I didn’t mind any of that so as long as I got what was rightfully mine there would be no complaints from my side. Fifteen to twenty minutes later the soldier came back and we walked into the gate’s barracks. Inside there were quite a few soldiers alongside a tall and well-built man. From the decorations on his armour, I could tell he was something akin to a commander or general. I didn’t mind his unfriendly expression as I dropped the corpses on the floor and stretched.

“Miss Amelia I presume. I am General Escafoldo. Let’s get to business immediately. For starters would you mind explaining who were those corpses?”
I could tell he was trying his best to sound intimidating. With such a build and face it would very effective against normal people. I mean a muscular man two meters tall in full plate armour with a scar across his face looks intimidating already. At to that the fact that he is trying to sound and look even more intimidating would deliver quite the combo. However, such actions are useless against me. My mind has been distorted again and again to the point I can’t tell what might trigger what emotions in me.
“I believe the soldier should have already told you the full story but whatever. This people are some of the responsible for the kidnappings. If you don’t believe me as those soldiers you sent to arrest me about the location I gave them. Look there and there should even more evidence of it”
Oh, looks like I have angered him. In his forehead, I could see a bain pop out as his face gained a slight red colouration. Well, I don’t care if he gets angry or not. I just want my gold coins alongside my rank up. As the general was about to talk once again the door of the room swung open and in came a soldier accompanied by the guild master and Isa’s group.
“Oh, guild master! As promised I have hunted down the kidnappers I hope you have brought the rewards”
I gave the man a bright smile as I completely disregarded the general. The guild master made a somewhat sour expression as he looked at me with intensity as he opened his mouth to talk.
“Amelia, as you may know, this is a delicate matter. For starters, after the report, Isabella and her group gave me I am not able to trust in you. Moreover, you may be a dangerous individual as is. Not to mention there is a probability of you being a monster with human form”
As he kept talking I could see him growing more and more nervous. As for me, I was glaring at him quite intensely. This bunch of idiots were getting on my nerves and it was making me angry. When he finished talking I snapped.
“Listen here mister guild master. I don’t care of you believe me or not. Just go down there and corroborate my claims. I have already told the soldiers of the location of their hideout. When you finish checking it come and give me my pay. I will give you people three days to do so or I will go get the payment myself”

At that moment I heard a sword unsheathing from my back. I instantly turned around catching the wrist of the idiot general that had swung my way. In the next moment, I applied pressure on hist wrist until it snapped.
“I will be in the loud boar’s inn. Three days, if anyone comes to cause trouble like this idiot general before that I will return them as a corps. I tried to be nice, you should remember that. If I felt like it, I could have killed everyone present in here”
After saying that I let go of the broken wrist I was holding. Then I kicked the general on the chest sending him across the room smashing against a door. Looking around every single person in the room were frozen in terror and that’s when I realized something. I had lost my cool and let my aura run rampant.
In this world, every living being possesses mana. This mana flows in and out of their bodies in a cycle. The aura is the mana that flows out of the body and is perceived by other beings. From the aura, It is possible to tell someone’s mana capacity as well as their mood. The flow of mana may be altered by someone’s mood not to mention that the mana itself will change accordingly. In this way someone who’s intent is to intimidate will exude an intimidating aura.
Just now I lost control of my aura letting it flow as it pleases. Because of this, the people around me could tell how angry I was on a fundamental level. Not only that, but they also felt the pressure caused by my abnormally large mana pool. Well, it’s not like I care. In the end, letting lose my aura aided me in driving my point home.
After my little display, I calmed myself down and leisurely walked out of the barracks. Thankfully the idiots inside didn’t chase after me and so I walked all the way to the inn. Inside I took a seat and looked at the menu. It’s not like I am hungry right now but I read somewhere on earth that eating helps with stress even if only momentarily. This is also the reason why people that suffer from stress tend to get obese.
Well, thanks to my soul ability I won’t get obese even if I eat a lot. Because of this, I ended ordering a larger portion than usual. After eating everything I went upstairs to rest and plan what I would be doing during these three days. Since I don’t have much money in my pockets I will be doing some simple gathering quests.
With a satisfied smile, I closed my eyes and went to sleep. The next day I woke up and readied myself before going to the guild where I accepted a gathering quest as planed. After ignoring the fearful looks of the guards at the gate I went out and began doing my own thing. It might be important to mention that someone was following me around. I couldn’t tell from where or who they were however even if they tried their best to mask their aura I could still tell. Since that last event in the dungeon, my senses have grown sharper once again. Not only that but my body as also become stronger and sturdier.
Either way, I decided to ignore those guys that were tailing me. As long as they didn’t get in my way I had no real reason to mind them. I guess this is the guild’s and the general’s way of keeping watch over me. If that helps to calm their nerves I have no problem with it. After a while, I finished my quest and went back, received the reward and went to the in to have lunch. Lunch this time was quite appetizing if I may say so myself.
For starters, we have neatly cut cubes of meat. The meat of these cubs belonged to cow, pig and chicken looking animals that exist in this world. The sauce from what I could tell was made with veggies and mushrooms giving the whole thing a nice slightly sour taste. For the side dish, there was some fresh bread with a olive oil and garlic. Well, I say that but I have no idea if they are actually olive and garlic. However, they taste very similar.
The drinks as always were mostly alcoholic which I still refuse to drink. However, there was one that looked very appetizing so I ended up ordering it. Thankfully its alcohol content was quite low. Because of this, the taste was to my liking and so I also enjoyed the drink. As for dessert, there were dried fruits bathed in a honey looking substance. Wasn’t this inn meant to be a cheap inn? Well, this menu was quite costy so I guess even though it is a cheap inn some middle-class people come here to eat.
After enjoying everything fully I went back to my room and rested for a while. Tomorrow will be a new day. How about I buy some accessories. I haven’t been taking care of how I look lately.
