"We should go back and check on him." Relo said as she looked back in the direction of the explosion.
"Jet told us to keep going. If he won he will catch up with us." Rachael turned and started walking forwards.
"What if he is hurt?" Relo asked.
Rachael stopped in place not looking back. "What if he lost Relo?"
"He wouldn't lose." Relo said quietly turning around to start walking again.
After a few minutes of walking someone spoke. "No, Jet definitely lost that fight." A feminine voice come out of no where.
Both of them turned to find a blue haired girl standing and smiling at them. She wore a casual green dress with no shoes on. That should of been the oddest thing about her, but her glowing red eyes stood out the most. There was also a boy standing next to her. He had short dirty blonde hair and blue eyes that had a shimmer to them. They both didn't look dressed for the cold. He only had a t-shirt and blue jeans on.
Rachael come to senses first recognizing the blue hairs girl. "It's you. But you look exactly the same."
"It has been quite some time since we last we met." The blue haired girl gave a bright smile.
"Rachael you know her?" Relo asked.
Rachael ignored the question. "You could have saved her." She looked into the girls eyes.
"If you're talking about Ileana and that quiet girl, I already saved them." The guy said nonchalantly.
"She's alive." They both said at once.
"Yes, my friend Almark here saved them both. Also Rick is just fine, I saved that old man." She stated.
"Who are you?" Relo finally asked.
"My name is Aaron of house Valentine. This is my friend Almark of house Davis." Aaron started.
"Aaron, any relation to Tony?" Relo asked remembering about where Jet got his odd weapons.
Almark chuckled at the question and Aaron answered. "We are one in the same." Then punched Almark on the arm.

Now Rachael was confused. "What do you mean by one in the same?"
Aaron reached up and pulled her dress slightly down. There was a black tattoo over her heart. "This little curse is a present from your friend Jet. When I sleep I can change from being a boy or a girl, and I don't get to pick. It is a real pain in my ass, but I've gotten used to it over the years."
Almark patted her on the back. "Maybe we will get used to your mood swings eventually too." He saw red lightning start to spark around Aaron's fist and he disappeared and reappeared behind Relo. "See what I mean. When she is a boy she is much nicer."
Relo flinched away getting ready to fight. "Who are you two and how do you know Sir Jet."
Aaron sighed deeply, "it's just Jet. He don't like titles."
Both Rachael and Relo looked at Aaron. "How do you know that?" Relo asked.
"Well that's easy. Jet is famous where we come from. Too bad."
Aaron cut Almark off. "Stop Almark, they don't need to know what happened."
"Why, not like these two could change."
"Almark enough," she looked him straight in the eyes. Almark raised his hands and went to a tree and sat down.
"So your name is Aaron?" Rachael asked her.
Relo looked at Rachael. "Ok everyone stop." Relo yelled then pointed at Aaron while looking at Rachael. "How do you know her?"
Rachael took a step back at Relo's outburst. But didn't say anything, so Aaron answered. "We first met when Rachael was six. She had gotten lost in a forest during a camping trip. Rachael fell into a river and I saved her."
Relo turned to Rachael then back to Aaron. "That was almost fifteen years ago. You look younger then me."
Rachael butted in on the conversation. "I said she looked the same."
Aaron just shrugged. "That was only a few months ago for me and yes I'm younger then you." Then she smiled. "I'm only fifteen after all."

"So you're trying to say you can travel through time?" Relo asked skeptically.
"No I cannot travel through time. Almark can." Aaron explained.
"It's not as easy as Aaron made that out to be." Almark shouted over her.
Relo just shook her head. "You expect me to believe that." She started then Almark appeared behind her and walked to her side.
"I'll be back." Almark grabbed Relo's shoulder and disappeared.
Rachael just stood there looking at the spot Relo had been. "Don't worry, Relo is just fine. You turned into quite a stubborn girl from what I hear." Aaron reassured Rachael.
"Ok, so Ileana really is ok?"
"Yes, she is living in my time. That is why I am here, to take you with me."
"Why?" Rachael was curious what was going on.
"There is a group trying to kill off the royal family. It was put off for years because of Dory. So to protect you from them, we will be taking you to the future." Aaron explained.
"What about dad, I can't just leave."
Aaron smiled lightly and walked over to Rachael. "Already had a chat with him, and had a few problems. First I can't interfere with Jet's timeline to much. Second Almark has problems getting to a certain time with other people, and the secret that will get you to join me."
After a few more minutes Relo showed back up, and looked ready to hurl. "Welcome back Relo." Aaron gave her a small smile.
After Relo got her bearings she looked at them, noticing a shocked look on Rachael's face. "Something wrong Rachael."
"Huh, what?" Rachael replied slowly.
"Sorry she is in a bit of shock at the moment." Aaron helped out.
Relo pulled out a dagger and pointed it at Aaron. She just raised an eyebrow at Relo. Almark just snickered at the site. He was hoping for a fight, it would be quite an interesting fight. Then was surprised when a long dagger appeared in Aaron's hand. Aaron started spinning the blade in her hand with a bright smile on her face.
"Aaron what are you doing?" Almark Questioned.
"Just going to have a little fun."
"With a dagger?"
"Really Almark, this is one of my blunt daggers. I'm not going to kill her. Just a friendly duel." Aaron said while sliding the dagger along her hand frowning at him.
"Do you even know how to hold back?" Almark kept questioning.
Relo just watched them argue as if she wasn't even there. So she turned to Rachael and whispered. "Let's get out of here while there busy."
"No, I am going with them." Rachael said softly.
"Rachael we can't trust them." Relo said a little to loud.
"Well, that's just rude." Almark butted into the conversation.
"Relo has a point, I wouldn't trust us either." Aaron helped. "Also are we going to still duel?"
"No, Relo listen. You are going to head back alone. I will be going with them." Relo started to talk, but Rachael held up a hand. "We will see each other again. It just may be a while."
Aaron put away her dagger and walked over to them. "Ok so it's decided, just one more thing to do." She put a finger on Relo's forehead. Relo went completely stiff as Aaron opened all her magic cores at once. Surprisingly her eyes went pink, but her hair stayed brown. After she was all done Aaron laid Relo on the ground.
"Alright Almark we can head out now." Aaron turned to him smiling.
"Aaron, I think we should wait till Relo wakes back up." Almark shook his head at her.

The Dreamside Road
Five years after the world fell into chaos, a treasure of artifacts is up for grabs. The relics of the Dreamside Road offer a power that could help rebuild or annihilate what remains. Orson Gregory is an adventurer for hire, but hunts this treasure for answers, not glory. Enoa Cloud’s late aunt helped hide the Dreamside Road, but following in her aunt’s supernatural tradition offers her as much peril as power. Together, Orson and Enoa battle a magic-obsessed militia, clash with a host of rivals, and face constant adventure on their journey to find the Dreamside Road. *Updates Monday and Friday The Dreamside Road is now on TopWebFiction! Vote so people know this exists. _____________________________________ NOTE: The Progression tag applies specifically to Enoa. Also, fair warning, that element doesn't enter the story until she begins her studies. Content: Main characters range in age from teenagers to people in their thirties and older, but it will not contain gratuitous violence or explicit sexual content. It also won’t shy away from implication, anything to make this story and its world feel more real. Characters will freely allude to potentially triggering topics, including living with a disability, facing terminal illness, coping with trauma, surviving societal destabilization, and the consequences of bigotry. At its most intense, the Dreamside Road is a hard PG-13. Worldbuilding: This is not a story with a lot of early exposition scenes, conveniently explaining ‘magic systems’ and political dynamics. Readers will learn, progressively, as the characters do. This story/world has a ‘magic system’, or rather, a set of systems, but the effort to quantify and understand the truth of the setting plays a role in the backstory, as well as in some character motivations. In that same vein, not every character has a firm grasp on the nature of their world, and not every piece of dialog from every character should be taken as entirely truthful Worldbuilding. Also, this isn't the softest Sci-fi. There are at least some basic explanations given for various elements, but Royal Road does not give me a spectrum to choose from. Given the choice between hard and soft, let's just say The Dreamside Road won't be cited in any college Physics papers. Setting and Theme: The Dreamside Road walks the line between fantasy and science fiction and deals with finding one’s place in a changing world. Many of the characters in this story are United States natives and the story begins in the United States, my homeland. However, knowledge or interest in this country is not necessary to understand the story, especially as it progresses. Also, as this is a novel that deals with societal collapse and while that damage may be widespread, in story, I don’t want to overstep and critique the culture of others’ unless I have particular knowledge in a given area. Ultimately, the Dreamside Road is American in the same way Harry Potter is English, fantasies that do not have a full secondary world, but with enough original elements to fully diverge the setting from our the real world.
