The noble sisters cried, embracing each other in happiness. The young boy sniffed as she patted his head. However, Lom was annoyed. He stealthily changed his right arm into small knife, slowly flied closer readied to slice their throat to keep their mouth shut. His bloodlust dispersed when I made him stop, patting his shoulder to hold up. Despite his ability to sense someone behind him, he was surprised in my appearance. He thought he last scene me lay down, quietly sleeping.
“...Lom, stand down. What are you doing, eh? They’re not gonna do something. Do they look like somebody to hurt someone like me? Trust me, they can’t even lay a single scratch on me. Look, Lom. They’re crying because they reunited, obviously.” I explained, slowly lowering his knife down.
He returned his weapon back to normal, aborted his objective and drop the bucket of water behind.
“I just do what I must. They’re making noise, I don’t want you to make your sleep be disturb by their worthless sorrow.” he said, keeping his head to cool down.
…Hmm…. I totally forgot, Lom was just a machine. He was built for my own sake. There was a chance he didn’t have a remorse to these people.
“Lom, I know you’re going to kill them for my sake but please reconsider your action. They are the people I saved. Show sincerity towards these siblings.” I seriously said, making Lom to feel his wrong decision.
The two guests noticed my presence and venerable lowered down their heads. I asked them to rise their head. The elder noble replied me a smile. She then sincerely asked, “Are you the master of this cute creature, the person who saved us from the forest last night?”
“Ummm…. Yes. We are. Can I ask your younger brother to raise his head?” I replied, nervously. She then lowered head like her younger brother.
“No, it is our privileged to honor our savior by bowing our head. We don’t have anything to offer but please accept our deep appreciation by doing this. If our respect doesn’t please you, we will give you a reward then.” her brother replied.
“... Uh, umm. Uh.. eh.. Just keep rise your head, kid. The two of you are considered as guest in this place. We don’t even need any kind of reward to get. So please, raise your heads.”
…T-This is bad. Goodness gracious, please raise your heads!
“Okay okay okay…” I sighed and gave in, looking seriously at their eyes. “You win. I accept your so-called appreciation so please raise your heads. Good now?”

The two siblings looked at each others, smiling afterwards. I asked them to sit in any spots they liked. They obediently followed, sitting in seiza and placed their hands in their hips.
“As the people who saved us, let me kindly introduce ourselves in front of you first. My name is Agnes Adelaide, elder sister of this cute little one named Eliza Adelaide. We honorably appreciate your service for the latent.” she said, waiting for me to speak.
“... Dear sis?” the younger brother whispered, looking suspicious at us.
“Don’t worry they look trustworthy. Trust my intuition.” she replied, rubbing his head gently.
“.. Mmm..” he nodded.
Hey hey hey, we can hear your whispering over here. Gosh, do I look like a bad person in your face, kid?
“Ahem, my turn then. My name is Chr-, Cross and this little thing resembles a rat ―”
“ ― Guinea pig, sir.”
“Whatever, just shut it.” I averted my eyes when the nobles were astonished in our conversation. To change their mood, I quickly spoke, “Just forget about it. By the way, his name is Ruthless, my sole companion. Nice to meet you.”
“...Ruthless? Master, I think that is a little bit arro ―” I quickly covered his mouth and put him down in the ground. Once I finished to shut him up, I expressly faced them in deadpan like nothing happen.
“Okay then, we’ve finished our introductions. I’ll be calling you from now on as Miss Agnes and little Eliza. Are you hungry?” They certainly nodded. “So let us first began to eat then before we proceed to get to know each other. Is that alright?”
They nodded and genuinely smiled at us.
“Lo-, uh, Ruthless, can you get some foods for all of us. Immediately.” I asked.
“..Yes, Master Chr― Cross. I’m going back for the meantime.” Lom obediently followed my command. He flied away from the place, leaving me with the guests alone.
….Sorry, I need to get rid of you first Lom. It appears he will do something bad to these two..
“Mister Cross, as I recall, you fought the vampires by using your weapon. Have you defeated them by yourself?” Agnes asked, staring at me with her beautiful eyes.
“..Uh, umm, eh, the truth is. It was Ruthless the only one who defeated them all. Thanks to him, I was still alive at this moment. Hehe.” I replied, partially lying to the guests.
“.. Aah, but you jumped over to save Eliza against them. So, I really admired what you did back then. I really thank you for saving him.” She grabbed my hands, showing her deep gratitude. Her hands were smooth like a pillow and her stares made me unable to avert my eyes and turned my cheeks to red. My heart beat so fast. I averted my eyes as keep her face closer to me but her soft chest touched mine, making me to feel dizzy. I quickly pulled her away, preventing myself to lose my mind.

“No no no, please don’t ever do that again, Miss Agnes. It was just an act of human instinct to save their own kind. That’s all.” I sighed in relief.
Agnes smiled and giggled while her younger brother atrociously stared at me.
“Mr. Ruthless was totally telling the truth. Although, your face shows some very complicated and suspicious outlook. The way you talk and movements are quietly impressive.” she murmured.
“What did you say? Pardon.” I asked, unable to hear what she said.
“...Eh? Umm.. nevermind. I just want to express my gratitude. Sorry, for that. Forgive me for what happened last night.” he replied.
“Huh? What do you mean?”
The siblings laughed when I was unable to catch up what she mean.
I clapped my hands once and I said, “..W-W-Well then. It looks like Ruthless will take time to gather ingredients. Let’s make a little tour in this place.”
“..Tour…!” Eliza’s eyes opened wide and sparked like a stars. She showed interest in my suggestion. “Sis, it’s a tour. But…. ” his face saddened as he recalled what happen to his relatives. His sister gently rubbed his hair and asked me to show the exit.
“Please.. Mr. Cross.” Her pitiful eyes made me to avert my eyes once again, restraining my arms to give her a hug. I bite my lips and calmed myself.
Damn it, what the hell is this? Is this kind of spell? Damn it, she’s hot and cute!
“Miss Agnes, Eliza, follow me.” I asked, showing the way.
When we got outside, the two nobles kneeled down. Without a cloth in their knees, they endured the rough surface to pray, mourning to the fallen relatives who died last night. Few drops of tears from their eyes, they quietly prayed for their souls to safely fly to heaven. I lowered my head and prayed as well, showing respect for their family.
“May your soul be accept in heaven and find peace in your new home.” I prayed.
Few minutes later, they stood up and removed the dust from their clothes. The beautiful maiden noticed her dress completely restored. She summoned her magic item [Mirror] to check herself. Her innocent smile gave me a goosebump, I grabbed my chest and felt uneasy. This kind of feeling I had never experienced, what kind of spell did she use on me? Grasping her own skin and checking her whole body, she took a spin while holding her skirt.
“.. Umm, Miss Agnes, why’re you look so happy?” I sincerely asked.
“I apologize, Mr. Cross.” she quickly ousted her magic item, “I can’t help myself to dance. You know this gown was a gift from my late husband.”
The word husband repeatedly came in and out from my head. My head crumbled and felt defeated.
“H-H-Husband… ?” I quickly removed the tears from my eyes and came back to my senses. “Lucky bastard...” I closed my fist tightly as I imagined to punch her husband’s face.
“It appears so clean and neat, if I just notice this earlier, I might put a cloth to cover its skirt. Also, my skin comes back to normal that even the scars and wounds are disappeared without any hints. I thank you again, Mr. Cross.”
“Sister, me too. My clothes looks newer than ever!”
You two…
They held their arms, smiling at each other. They turned their attention to me and lowered their head as they lifted their skirt in curtsy. They showed me a dance as their appreciation in royal manner. As an audience, I sat down and quietly watched their play.
…Hmm… So beautiful. Dancing together.. I wish I can do the same with them.
After the dance ended, Miss Agnes moved closer to me. Her brother stared at me when he saw my cheeks turning red. I quickly averted my eyes from him and looked at his sister.
“Uh, umm, uh, Mr. Cross, is Mr. Ruthless the one who did this? If he is the one who did this, thank you.” she sincerely asked. Her cute face and red lips made me to gulp.
.. Ouch, crap, my heart. What kind of feeling is this? Her eyes… her eyes… don’t look at me like that.
“Ahem...”
I returned to my senses when her brother coughed.
“Thank you, Mr. Cross.” She put her right hand above mine. “Thank you for this kind of treatment.”
Mayday… Mayday… Mayday…. Help me. My mind is occupied by something powerful. Mayday… Damn it. I’m an Army General not an Airforce personnel! I need medic!
“Gosh, this is troublesome!”
..Ooops, I hope they didn’t hear it.

Re:Mento Mori
When Ryuji, a disgruntled salaryman, is supposed to reach an unfortunate end, he is instead thrust into a new world, inhabiting a body that isn't his own. Forced into a world filled with strife and death, can he claim freedom and happiness? Or will his turbulent new life only lead to suffering and pain? As with every time-loop story written by an amateur author, this is heavily inspired by Re:Zero. If I had to explain my book, I would say imagine Re:Zero, but the main character can actually fight people instead of just getting merked every time he meets someone with a weapon. The themes of this story are dark, so be forewarned. This is my first story so keep that in mind while reading it.
