《Chronicles of Grand Deus》Chronicles of Grand Dues Chapter 17

The two vampires I thought killed in action begun to regenerate, slowly standing up like a newborn monster. Surprised from their incredible ability, I was so eager to fight them on. They gave me an exciting challenge to face more.Seeing an opponent won’t die in anything you did, it gave me a goosebump to kill them brutally. As expected from the race of vampires, they won’t fall easily by a simple weapon.
The other three transformed into their monster mode. The saliva overflowed in their mouth, dropping in mushy white fluids.
Hmm... they are really pissed. Should I run? But there is no time for that. I need to buy some time for them.
In on blink, the vampires quickly attacked, using their swords and claws. I instantly blocked every single one of their rapid moves but my hands started to numb in pain. Inside my thought, I must stay defensive to recover. But there quick agility and hard attacks made me unable to stay in this mode.
In one slash of sword by one of the vampires, I was tossed away by the strong pressure and hit the tree behind me. I recovered from the skill he used, but my knees shook so much, making me unable to stand up.
The leader said as his fangs grew bigger, "Well, well, well, I think Mister Peasant Hero has already reached his limits. You’re wasting your time, peasant. You can’t even take a counter attack from my underlings."
"No, I'm not moron. I’m not yet done.” I replied, trying to stand up. “You know, I'm just holding back. I can still slice your throats and limbs in my own. You’re weaker than me though."
"Why you? You pissed of livestock. Kek, you're gonna die anyway. I have no choice, if we can't kill you with our weapons, we'll use magic instead." he said, raising his right arm. On his left hand, an earth magic circle appeared. The massive rocks floated around his whole body, encircling like a asteroids in planet Saturn. He smirked and targeted my heart. He tossed it towards me, luckily he missed. When I witness the trees had a holes in their trunks, I already concluded those rocks was dangerous to touch. I ran and dodged his magic whilst, his four men was trying to attack me in each corners.

Unbelievable… seriously? These morons knew how to use magic too? C’mon, that’s unfair set in this world. Oh man, if I know this kind of skill existed, I just let myself to train how to learn one before facing these creatures. Darn… I only knew how to use several types of weapon in modern warfare back then. Sigh… What kind of situation did I just entered?
The leader was still using his earth magic and trying his best to kill me. Hence, I decided to withdraw. Like Sun Tzu stated in his Art of War book; In a position of this sort, even though the enemy should offer us an attractive bait, it will be advisable not to stir forth, but rather to retreat, thus enticing the enemy in his turn; then, when part of his army has come out, we may deliver our attack with advantage.
In further adieu, if the battle went against you, it’s better to retreat and redeemed yourself. It was not meant I gave up. In order to kill these freaks, I need an another strategy.
"Woah, you're trying to act like a hero but you run away like a coward. Follow him. Don't let him escape alive"
While dodging his magic skill, I started to pray for my own safety.
Oohh… hoh.. Hoh… hoh… hoh… hoh… Oh woah.... I don't want to die in this kind of situation. First the man-eating goblins. Second, the Umbra spiders and now, THE VAMPIRES! Shit! Lom! Where the hell are you guys now? If they are safe now, please Lom help me out of here right now. I need you so badly!
"Lom! Help me out here!"
The vampires was rapidly jumped over to the ground and trees. Side by side, there claws almost reached my body. But I was still in good defensive stance, making them unable to kill me instantly.
But my luck had run out. I went in the wrong way and reached the dead end. A huge cliff blocked my way. A rock hit the cliff wall and made a huge hole around it.

"This is the end of the line, wanderer. Be our honored as we slowly sip your neck as our main dish…. Tonight, you’ll die for good." he said, licking his sword readied to slice my body parts.
"Haha, good crap. I ain't taste so good. My blood is like a poison if you drink it you'll die instead. Thus, we should talk about it this time. Yeah talking is good right?"
The vampires crazily laughed in unison.
"He-hehe."
They pointed their swords to my throat, two of them grabbed my arms behind me. Surrendering was my last option. Nervous, I gulped. They sniffed my body and confirmed nothing. There fangs shone in the middle of the night as it enlightened by moonlight. I closed my eyes in acceptance of my own death.
"Dinner Time!"
The leader choke my neck and took the first bit. In one second, he found himself flying above the sky. Unable to accept the reality, his head had been separated from his main body. Scream of pain and cries of agony began. He asked to himself how he ended up in this situation. Searching for the culprit, he found an unknown creature. A rare breed with wings covered by their blood, the leader and his underlings astonished in his appearance. Lom disappeared and one by one sliced the survivors merciless. Fountain of bloods sizzled and rained within the scene. He brutally massacred the entire group. There corpses turned into ashes and disappeared alongside in the breeze of wind.
"What the heck, Lom? What took you so long?" I asked, removing the dust from my clothes.
"I sincerely apologize for my lateness, master. The bodies of the survivors were too heavy to lift up by myself." he lowered his chest in respect.
"No need to tell the reason. Forgive me too. Now, the’re gone. We can return to our place safety without worries."
"Thank you very much, master."
"Oh yeah, where are the two nobles anyway?"
"They are inside the cave where we left before"
"Hey, that's a long way. I told you to carry their bodies in safe place, right?"
"I flied over to the forest while dragging the two with me. Like what you order, I genuinely carried them away from the vampires. However, I couldn’t find any place to hail them so I decided to send them to the cave. No need to worry, sir. We've cleared the first floor so I thought it was safer to let them stayed there."
"What the hell, Lom? Are you insane? What could be possibly happened if they woke up and decided to go to the forbidden zone. Now, this is not the time to talk this crap, we need to go back right now!"
"Umm, don't worry master." Lom averted his eyes. “There is forty percent chance they might die if they wake up.”
"Don't turn your eyes away from me! You idiot, let’s go now before it’s too late"
"I'm so sorry master."
"Jeez Lom, you're giving me a headache. We won’t get there quickly. Lom, I’m ordering you to carry me.”
“Yes, master!” His hands grew larger, giving him enough strength to carry my body. His wings begun to fly.
“Don't ever try to drop me from above. Do you copy?"
"Yes master. Copy that"

Aether-powered Skyships prowl the skies, as all the great nations blessed by the Gates try to turn the blessings of the Labyrinth into immediate advantages. But for Jonas, an apprentice leatherworker, his friend Ira, and so many Londoners, the fabled ones that walk the Labyrinth are distant heroes, seen from afar. They fell short when their Potential was measured, and they fill their mundane lives with distant dreams. One man wants to break the stalemate. The Tyrant of the Dominion of France, Napoleon Bonaparte, has a plan. Eighteen years after the world changed, he will force it to change again. And when civilians are caught in the fallout, the unthinkable happens. Six people, unqualified, forbidden to ever enter the Labyrinth, find themselves stranded in a distant zone, forcefully turned into Professionals. They know little of what that means, but they have to figure out the rules that are now their lot, for they have little hope to escape their predicament otherwise. They need to understand what the descriptors in their minds mean, what each of the strange piece of gear waiting in treasure chests behind terrible guardians can bring them. They have to become Professionals on their own and rejoin the Empire. They will figure out their new lives one way or another. But will there be an Empire waiting for them when the Gates re-open? Caught in a clash of empires and high tiers, they will do what little they can. They will step up and do their best. One way or another. The Infinite Labyrinth is a slice-of-life litRPG adventure set in a real historical setting. It's a hard, crunchy litrpg. Expect blue boxes everywhere, and the system itself is very mathy. It started life as a serial. I prepared some proper worldbuilding, with enough details and background for lots of different potential story arcs, but as I wrote, I realized the main story needs to have a definitive end. So, there are four books in total, for a bit under 1500 pages, plus additional side stories, and even maybe a sequel one day. The Gore tag was added as a precaution because there are a few scenes with some light gore.
