《The story of Willenstark Kraft》Chapter-23: Ceremony of Courage

Unknown to Will when he fell asleep the array activated its second function and gathered the energy of all types into it and towards its center. The array looked like it was formed from shattered rainbows and there wasn't a single color missing from it. It caused the entire area next to his cabin to be filled with a mirage of colors and shapes.
"No matter what happens my prince, you must not give up," Kapo said as the energy in the array started to enter into the unconscious Will that was in the center. Will found himself surrounded by a sea of colors that continuously moved and changed but never moved away from Will. "What happened? Where am I?" Will asked no one in particular as the seas of colors all changed to be one color, black. It was a color that wanted to destroy and devour everything. It swirled around Will as he fell into it as the sea tried to devour him. Will found himself in a world of darkness that contained nothing but what appeared to be ruin. Cities that were destroyed, bridges that have collapsed, rivers that were overflowing with what appeared to be blood. Will wondered around the destroyed area that was once a popular market but was nothing but rotten wooden stands and crumbled brick walls. Will wondered around until he came across his first challenge, a humanoid creature that stood roughly six feet tall and was completely covered in needle-like quills that appeared to be able to pierce steel and it had the head of a sphynx cat that was covered with quills. Will tried to punch it but ended up nearly shredding his fist in the process and resorted to using his swords. "What was that thing? It attacked me as soon as it saw me. It was more hostile than the Vermillion deer!" Will said as he binds his right hand to stop the bleeding. "Why does it still hurt?" Will asked as he stared at his hand that was wrapped from strands of hiding he cut from his shirt that was soaked through with blood. The strange thing was that even though Will heals faster than a human, his blood had still yet to start clotting. Will looked towards the sky to find it overcast with different shades of black and without a shred of light. Will found his passive healing to be without effect and had to stop exploring and began to rest and finally managed to get the bleeding to stop. Then he slowly moved around and continued to explore the world around him and searched for a way out. Will proceeded to what looked like a police station. The walls appeared to be on the verge of collapsing but would serve the purpose that Will needed it for. He gathered some pieces of rubble from where part of the ceiling collapsed and used it to barricade the door. "Where am I? What kind of ceremony is this supposed to be?" Will asked himself as he used lied down in a corner and slept. Will rested until the pain in his hand had turned into a dull throb. Will had decided to move and before he could he heard bells ringing and lots of noises outside the ruins he was in. "What is going on now," Will said as he raised and attempted to climb onto the roof and seen hordes of weird creatures surrounding the ruin he was in and nearly fell off when he saw that over half of them had quills like the one that shredded his hand earlier. "How am I going to get out of here?" Will asked himself as he tried to think of a way to get out of the ruin and away from the creatures. As Will struggled to make a decision, the creatures starting to move closer to the ruin as they started to lock onto Wills's scent. Soon all Will heard was the shrieks and roars of the creatures that ran towards the ruin he was in. Some ran on multiple legs and resembled caterpillars with the head of a T-Rex. They were some that were giant pythons anywhere between ten to twenty-five meters long and had those same quills that injure Will earlier instead of scales. There were a few giants that carried War Axes, dragons that were covered in scales that were half a foot thick, and many others who appeared to have come straight out of the fantasy books that Will read in his free time. "Well, there went my chance of escaping," Will said as he drew his swords and walked out of the ruins to meet the incoming creature. Will's first opponent was the snake creature that he saw earlier. Will attacked it with two downward slashes from his blades only to find that the things quills were too strong for him to be able to harm it. Will was sent flying from a tail strike from the snake. His cloak was shredded and his stomach was pierced by one of the quills. "What is that thing made of?!?" Will said in between the mouthfuls of blood he vomited and yanked out the quill that was in his stomach. The creatures roared at the scent of Will's blood and continued their assault. Will stumbled to his feet and readied his sword as blood pooled out of the hole in his stomach. "Let's see what you all can do!!!" Will roared as he raised his swords once more. Will repeatedly attacked and was repeatedly repelled each time. By the tenth attack, Will looked like a bloody porcupine, the fiftieth Will looked like a blood-filled pin cushion. Will attacked until he was tired and then attacked more. On his thirtieth attack, his left lung was pierced and slowly filled with blood. By the fiftieth attack, he was half-drowned on his blood but he didn't stop. He slowly carved away at his enemies, one at a time until he killed over half of them and killed more. He killed until there was only the dragon in his way, he stabbed it through the heart as he was impaled by its claws. He watched the eyes of the dragon grow dim as the world grew darker as he felt his heart stop beating as he died. He found himself surrounded again by the sea of darkness, but alas instead of being consumed the sea it instead invaded Will and made itself a part of him. It strengthened his muscles, bones, tendons, and created weird vein-like structures throughout his entire body. Will was startled when he found himself becoming stronger by the second. He felt that if he had to fight those creatures again, that he could easily defeat them single-handedly. He found a lot of information is transmitted directly to his brain as the Black Sea strengthened his internal organs. Will awoke in the real world and found himself sitting in a charred area where the array used to be. Thankfully, there wasn't a forest fire of Will would have had to rebuild his cabin. Will looked down to see the makeshift cloak and clothes he made were also burned to ash. "Kapo, why didn't you tell me this would happen?" Will said while shivering as he remembered the ordeal he just went through. "Sir, it would be breaking tradition if I did. Would you have been prepared even if I told you, you were going to die. " Kapo said as he looked at Will. "No, but is it a tradition for everyone who goes through the ceremony to end up completely naked!?!" Will said as he finally lost his temper. "No, but I didn't know that this crude plane of existence couldn't handle the low-grade ceremony that was performed," Kapo said with a tinge of disappointment in his voice. "UGH, next time before we do something that could potentially damage the area around me, give me a warning," Will said with a sigh. "Well, at least you didn't die," Kapo said with a chuckle as Will's face turned pale with fright. "You are joking right?" Will said as he was shaking. "No, if you cowered in fear and didn't fight them then you would have been devoured by the energy," Kapo said. "What were 'they'?" Will asked as he shivered from the recollection of the quills that shredded his body. "Those were Demonlings, they were originally creatures from your home dimension but were warped by the demons during the war," Kapo said as Will became even more confused. "Ugh, Demonlings? Are you sure they weren't demon lords!?!?" Will screamed at Kapo. "Alright, calm down. Have you checked the celestial system yet?" Kapo said as Will slowly calmed down. "No?" Will said confusedly. "Well open it you, idiot!" Kapo screamed at Will. "Okay!" Will said as he opened the Celestial System Tabs: Injuries Maps Level:0 Exp: 0/5 Main: Name: Willenstark Kraft-Will Race: ??-Tailed celestial fox Strength: 30 Agility: 35 Intelligence: 32 Charisma: 20 Luck: -39 Mana: 57 Mana Manipulation: 33 Vitality: 34 Endurance: 40 Willpower: 48 Spirit: 35 battle Lust: 35 Mana Cladding: 25 Skills: Movement: Grace (Passive) Light magic: Light manipulation: 11 Healing light (Active/Passive) Lightning magic: Lightning Manipulation: 10 Lightning Blood (Active) "WOW, my stats have increased a lot!" Will said as he stared at his stats with shock. "Your stats can now be considered decent," Kapo said as he watched Will shake with delight. "Alright, now I should be able to protect my family without worry, right?" Will asked as he recalled the constant threat of invading nations and monsters in the areas surrounding them. "Yeah, you should be fine. If not just level up a few times." Kapo said as Will put on one of the cloaks he made from Vermillion Deer hide and began his journey back home.

Keepers of the Neeft
The Indigo Empire has conquered half the world’s nations, their people, and their gods. According to its citizens, old and new, the rest of the world will follow. In the capital of the Throne-home, the Imperial Academy produces the next generation of great leaders to drive that expansion. Cadryn Bence knows he will be one such leader, he’s overcome his common birth, mixed heritage, and every other obstacle to be the top of his class. He dreams of glory on the southern front against the Gravanik States. He will not be finding it. Instead, if the glory he expects. Far to the north, lies the unassumingly named North-Eastern Extreme Frontier Tower, a backwater post if ever there were one. Through the machinations of the Emperor’s state religion, and a cult within it, Cadryn will find himself on his way to this first assignment. On the frontier, Cadryn will discover that neither his campions, nor the Neeft itself, are what he expects. Follow Cadryn on his journey to discover many truths: about himself, about the Empire, and about the very world he call home. ****** Keepers of the Neeft is a (bit dark) fantasy story revolving around Cadryn and his journey of discovery. There’s a fairly wide cast of supporting characters (his fellow Keepers) all with their own reasons and motivations behind how they came to be at the Neeft. Current release plan is to have part 2 completed, then fully edit up till the end of part 2. I am in the process of editing the earlier content as I complete the updates/re-writes. Apologies for any rough content in the meantime. My primary objective with Keepers of the Neeft is to work on developing content flow and establishing a community of people who enjoy my writing style. I write SF/F and horror as my primary genres, Keepers is actually my 3rd novel length work, but my current project. Updates of new Content will currently be in the form of one larger post on Tuesdays.
