《Omega System》Chapter 6 - Knowledge Test

[Training Hall]
It was finally time to complete the final part of the Class Placement Exam. The knowledge test; both Damon and Leon had not done it yet, so they decided to wait in line together, still mulling over their talk with Kalli.
“Just forget about it for now Leon. I don’t wanna talk about it, we have enough time to train anyways.”
Damon was currently talking with Leon, they were almost at the front of the line for the test.
“Ok man, I’m just saying. If something happens, I don’t know anything, ok, so don’t blame anything on me.”
Leon was having fun with his jokes, but Damon had taken it seriously.
“How am I going to blame you if I’m dead?”
Leon told Damon it was a joke, and Leon was surprised by the sudden statement about someone being dead. The 2 friends continued to joke around, not minding what Damon said until it was finally their turn to take the knowledge test.
The area where the knowledge test was taking place was a square shaped room that was normally filled with equipment, but it was all taken out to give room for desks and chairs. The walls were painted white, and there weren’t any windows. The only decoration was a clock on the wall.
This seems more like an infirmary than the actual infirmary.
The room could hold about 20 students at a time; Damon and Leon entered along with 18 other students. They took the seats at the front, next to each other, while the others slowly filed in one by one, and sat down. No one talked to each other, because they were afraid that the instructor would kick them out like the other students that had talked while taking the test.
The instructor entered once everyone was seated and started explaining the rules while simultaneously handing out the tests along with No. 2 pencils. The rules were that you had an hour to finish, no cheating in any way, and talking will result in a fail.

Once the rules were explained and everyone had obtained a piece of paper and pencil, the instructor said that they could start, and just like that, the knowledge test had begun.
This doesn’t look too hard. It’s simple math problems! At least the Academy resembles a real school in this one aspect!
The knowledge test was simply grade school math problems. Damon was excellent at math in middle school, so he solved the questions with ease. Leon on the other hand, was struggling with his answers. He performed the Physical Combat and Magic Tests well, but it seemed like he spent too much time on his body and not his brain.
The two guys continued like that for the hour, Damon finishing early and taking time to check his work, while Leon on the other hand, taking 5 or more minutes to solve one question. The other students were in similar situations, because most of them prioritized their training over studying. Therefore, they were having difficulty with the knowledge test.
1 hour later
“That was soooo hard, right Damon?”
“No, that was pretty easy, I thought I was in middle school again!”
“You sure? Those questions were hard for everyone in that room, I looked around and saw a lot of people with scrunched up faces in there.”
“Oh really? I guess I just studied a lot more on math than training skills, since I don’t have any.”
Leon was surprised at what he said. His head instantly turned around with his mouth hanging wide open.
“I was good at math ok?”
“No! Not that! T-the other apart about your skills! You don’t have any?”
Leon rapid fired a bunch of questions, Damon didn’t even have time to react with all of them, because Leon continued talking.

“I get it now… no wonder you were beat up for what happened to Siena. A commoner with no powers beating up a noble, huh.”
Leon had answered his own question before Damon could do anything. Damon was feeling a bit hurt that Leon cared so much about skills, almost as much as Rachel. Also, he used the term “commoner” which left a bad taste in Damon’s mouth.
“Is there a problem with that? Not having skills and still beating that brat Siena?”
“No no no! There’s nothing wrong with that. I was just a bit surprised that you didn’t have any skills.” Leon stammered. “It’s just that everyone other than you has skills in this school. It’s a requirement, so how did you even get in?”
“I don’t know, I just received an envelope in my mailbox saying that I was accepted, that’s all. I don’t remember seeing any requirements to enter The Royal Academy.”
Leon was lost in thought, but he eventually gave up because he couldn’t figure anything out.
“Let’s just forget about it, and wait for the Class Placement Exam results.”
Damon agreed, and they went and sat down on a bench, waiting for the results to be released. They had to give time for the instructors to mark the individual tests and give suitable assessments for each student. It took some time and it was was around 12:00 pm when the rankings were finally revealed. There were a bunch of names under each label from Class F to Class S on a board the size of a small billboard. Class S was the highest ranked class that could be seen on the board. The lowest ranked class was on the left, being Class-F. It went from low to high starting from left to right.
Only nobles and the wealthy were in the higher up classes throughout The Royal Academy’s history, They had the most resources to train their skills, so naturally, they were at the top. Most of the commoners were Class C and down, but the number of commoners in Class C could be counted on one hand.
Damon and Leon walked up to the board to check their rankings. Many other students were doing the same thing, nervous about what class they would be in.
“What class do you think I’ll be in?” Leon asked.
“I don’t know. I haven’t seen your abilities yet, so I have no clue.”
“Let’s hope we’re in the same class though!”
They walked towards the board, hoping for a high rank, which was the same thing everyone else was thinking. They started at the left side moving their way to the right while scanning the board. Their hopes rose higher and higher the more they read. After getting through all the classes, it was the last class. The one to the very right. The two boys tensed up as they finally laid their eyes upon the board and scanned the final class.
Damon and Leon finally saw their names, right next to each other in the same section. There hearts beat wildly as their faces expressed disbelief. They were speechless at the results of their efforts.
Not only were they in the same class. They were also in…
Class-S.
