《Omega System》Chapter 5 - Childhood Friend

Standing 5 feet in front of him was a girl with bright blue eyes, long hair as crimson as blood, and a cute face that resembled that of anime girls’. She was shorter than Damon, about 5 feet 6, but the aura she gave off made it seem like she was towering above him.
The two students studied each other for some time, Damon because he was speechless, and the girl, because she was waiting for him to talk first.
“W-what are you doing here Kalli? I thought you were still visiting your parents in France!”
“Always getting straight to the point I see. Well, I came here because I heard you were attending The Royal Academy, plus it’s the best Academy in England, probably the best in all of Europe too.”
Damon gave Kalli a puzzled look. He seemed like he was deep in thought over why this certain person was here.
“Where did you hear that I was attending this Academy? I swear no one else knew other than me and the school.”
Kalli gave Damon a sly smile that creeped him out. While the two people were conversing, Leon went off to the side, trying to observe the conversation attentively. He was continuously eyeing the girl he thought was cute, in front of him, while trying not to be caught in the act of doing so.
“Honestly, I didn’t know that you were attending here either. It was just a coincidence that I somehow managed to meet my wonderful childhood friend once again,” Kalli said sarcastically, with a smirk on her face.
Damon’s face flushed red when Kalli handed out a compliment. His hands could be seen sweating a little, so he hid them behind his back, as he continued the conversation. Leon inwardly muttered to himself about would of having reacted the same if a girl like that gave him a compliment, while feeling a little down that Damon had such a beautiful girl as a childhood friend.
“H-how about we take a seat on a table, so we can talk comfortably?”
“Sure,” Kalli said while she sauntered towards a table, pulling Damon by his arms. Damon’s face turned redder than before from this tiny action. He seemed to have some weird thoughts going through his head.

Once the 3 individuals sat down, Kalli started explaining about how she ended up at The Royal Academy along with how she and Damon had become childhood friends to the confused Leon. Kalli Reid’s parents were good friends with Damon’s mom when they were little. Before Omega, their parents had attended the same University together, and slowly bonded over time. When the Kalli and Damon were born, they hanged out every weekend that they could have, playing together at the park, or at each other’s houses.
Kalli’s family had lived in England before Omega, a close distance to Damon’s house, but a few years after Omega, Kalli’s mom and dad had mastered their skills they had awakened, and were offered a high paying job in France. That’s why they were spectated but they still stayed in touch. Both families were happy until something happened.
“The day my mom…”
Damon barely whispered those words, but his voice was clearly shaken. His friends didn’t hear them and continued on with their conversation casually.
“Ahhh, I feel like I understand a little more about the situation now,” exclaimed Leon. “My name’s Leon if you didn’t know already. Leon Rojas.”
“I’m Kalli, I’m happy to see that Damon actually somehow made one friend,” said Kalli in a mocking tone as she looked at Damon. “He hasn’t made any friends throughout elementary school and middle school.”
“Hey! That isn’t true, don’t listen to her Leon!”
The group started laughing at the hilarious remarks everyone was making. When they calmed down, Kalli put on a serious expression and started explaining the important reason why she had applied for The Royal Academy. The atmosphere instantly altered to that of seriousness.
“Damon, listen carefully to what I am about to say”
She motioned for Damon to come closer, and once he did, she whispered something in his ear
Damon‘s face turned pale, and he had a disorientated expression on his face. He started shivering, and started to frantically look around the room, seemingly looking for someone.
Kalli immediately stopped what Damon was doing and told him to calm down.
“What are you doing? I said in the next month! Not today! Why are you acting so afraid when we’re right here?”

What did she mean by what she said?
Damon was thinking, while completely deaf to what his friend was saying.
Why are so many unfortunate things happening to me!
“Damon! Damon! Snap out of it,” Kalli quietly shouted, so no one else would hear, while also shaking Damon.
Her combination of words and actions caused Damon to return back to his senses. Leon had a bewildered expression painted on his face. He had no clue what was happening. Damon stopped his shivering and looked towards his two friends, at ease once more.
“Is what you said right now the truth? If it is, how did you even obtain this information?”
Damon could feel his heart thumping faster, because if what Kalli said was the truth, he was pretty much screwed.
Please tell me it’s a joke. Please!
“I overheard my parents talking about it in their study one night. They were concerned about you, so I decided to take action, and come here to warn you about it. Little did I know, someone somehow heard I was coming to give you a warning, and delayed trip by a few days. Otherwise, I would’ve told you sooner, and stopped you from going to school.” Kalli recalled.
“Thanks for telling me though, I’ll be more aware starting from now.”
Leon was squirming in his seat wondering if he should ask about what they were talking about. Right before he gathered the courage to ask, Kalli started speaking again. She stared at Damon once again.
“Make sure not to tell anyone! It’ll endanger you more than you already are,” insisted Kalli. “Even Leon over here, do not tell him until you are 100% sure you can place your trust in him.”
“Ok, ok, you can stop your nagging now, I understand.”
Damon was back to normal, speaking as he normally would.
“I owe you one Kalli, I sincerely thank you and will make sure to pay back this favour in full. I promise”
Damon replied sincerely and from his heart. He intended to keep this promise, along with the one he made to Leon at the Infirmary. Ask anytime, you can ask for anything you want.
Kalli’s face turned red, but she quickly stood up and turned around. When Damon had said that, her heart had fluttered a bit.
“I-I will be going then! S-see you later!”
Kalli rushed out of the Training Hall, no longer needing to stay, because she had finished her Class Placement exam. Her face still red even though she had left Damon’s presence. She placed her hands on her red cheeks and slapped herself softly once. She focused back on her walking.
“Oh wait, I forgot to tell Damon what class I’m in! Oh well, I’ll tell him later,” thought Kalli as she was walking toward her dorm, still a little flustered about what Damon had said.
Damon and Leon were still sitting at the table, discussing among themselves.
“Come on Damon, tell me, please? I’ll even consider this as the favour you promised me!”
Hmm, if I tell Leon, he could protect me as well. He doesn’t seem like too bad of a guy, considering that he brought me to the infirmary even though he didn’t have to. Also, I won’t owe him a favour anymore. Still, Kalli said not to tell anyone, that means not even Leon.
”Sorry Leon, I’ll pay you back in another way later.”
Leon felt left out, but even if he was just a little bit sad, he couldn’t change the fact that Damon wouldn’t tell him the secret.
“Can you at least give me a hint?” asked Leon with a curious expression on his face.
“I need to get stronger as quickly as possible, so I can defend myself when I need it,” declared Damon.
What caused this fierce desire for strength, was caused by Kalli’s words, which seemed like something very important to Damon, depicting a situation where he could risk losing everything in the blink of an eye. Something so significant that it had caused him to shiver with fear and lose his sense of reason just from hearing the words.
Damon had become the target of an assassination.
