Maxifar® All-purpose lighting fluid

Mortal tier recipe. No cultivation requirements

No. This is not a sponsor. Why the hell would I still need sponsorships at my stage?

Maxifar holds the monopoly on mortal tier ignition fluids. In the past the class of liquids was bloated with variations dependent on the fuel you wished to ignite or even just the desired temperature, then one of their leading engineers developed this stuff. Yes, an engineer not an alchemist.

The reason I have to name their company is simply because that was all they asked if I shared this recipe, not even asking for royalties for using their patent in a compendium like this. Needless to say I would never reject such a sincere offer, and so I share this knowledge with you all. Once again this is not sponsored, but I do recommend most mortal households to own some of this product. There’s a reason they gained a monopoly on this patent alone.

Ingredients and recipe Placenta blood of a fire elemental being, 50 ml – spirit forming stage fluid Sunshine seeds, 10 pieces – non magical plant Wood ash (Softwood), 500 grams – non magical powder Extremely viscous fluid, 150 ml – non magical fluid Fireblood roots, 30 grams – natural gathering stage plant

That is specifically placenta blood. If you really, and I mean really, want to be picky then artificially made cells also work for that ingredient. Farming fire elemental beings isn’t exactly hard though…

Extremely viscous fluid is intentionally vague. But in general you can compare it to existing fluids, namely tar (also known as pitch). Naturally the viscosity should be measured against their room temperature counterparts.

Start by adding the wood ash to the blood and stirring. A rather standard procedure, then throw it in an industrial microwave for 10 minutes. The use of thermal radiation is important here, as the heat must be specifically directed onto the blood. Heating up the entirety will not work here. As known, microwaves interact with water primarily.

The viscous fluid must undergo its own temperature dependent process. Freeze it to approximately -220 C, this is relatively hard to do on the fly. Immediately after which it must be heated until it begins bubbling and spitting, but not boiling. Crush the Sunshine seeds to a paste and add them to this far less viscous hot fluid.

Stir continuously and then allow it to cool. Once it begins growing hard to make single rotations you may stop.

Fireblood roots are a desert plant which thrive on the extreme heat. Unfortunately, they are still bound by their mortal need for water and as such must store it. To further protect it from predators it then augments this water into an incredibly concentrated flaming fluid.

On this own it does little more than melt a hole through your mouth, but it becomes rather useful when combined with your hot fire elemental blood. Just add it in directly. No need to even stir it!

Now the toughest part, you have to add the tar and seed mix in a specific way, that being any way which maximises their surface areas. Maxifar developed their own method of crushing the tar into long flat sheets, cutting them up, and adding the thin tiny sheets into the product. Each sheet is no more than half a millimetre thick and roughly 1cm by 1cm in size.

There is no need to stir here as small enough sheets will melt before even reaching your container’s bottom.

Filter out the solids and bottle the product.

Usage

So, what makes this stuff an ‘All purpose’ product. Surely it cannot fulfil every possible case?

Of course it cannot. This stuff is explicitly designed for mortal use, and everyday use at that. It will not help those trying to melt tungsten in their backyard. Instead it lights fires very well, and it is highly controllable. Regardless of how much of the product you use, it will always burn for 10 seconds. Instead the quantity of fluid used will determine its burnt flame’s temperature. This increase is linear to the volume used.

1 ml is equal to 100 C of additional heat. Please note this describes the core of the flame which is generally the hottest, and due to this you must use at least a few millilitres to even create a flame. Nonetheless, this stuff is controllable down to a precision of 0.01 C which makes it ridiculously good for these small bursts of heat.

Objects lit on fire with this product to not follow these rules. As always be careful around fire. Especially when most people are not fireproof.
