《A Comprehensive Guide for Alchemy》50th recipe - Mobile neutron source

Mobile neutron source
Mortal tier recipe. No cultivation requirements
These solid lumps of metal are most often utilised in fission reactors, for obvious reasons. There’s not much to say in appearance or effects beyond doing what it does. And the metal is a pretty boring grey.
The origin is slightly better as most races seek out methods to enhance the percentage of nuclear material detonated in warheads. These weapons are immensely powerful and blocking radiation, primarily gamma, requires highly specialised qi transformation techniques. Most normal barriers instead only impede the super high energy photons. This does make nuking weaker cultivators a completely viable attack strategy…
Ingredients and recipe Any regenerative metal, 5 grams – Natural gathering stage or higher metal Bloodspark oranges, 1 unit – Natural gathering stage fruit Cosmic diaphragm, 500 mg – non magical fabric Controlled Qi flow, 1 unit – natural gathering stage fluid Particle freezer, 1 flower – natural gathering stage flower
This process can be a bit complicated, mainly due to how cosmic diaphragms work.
Start off by dropping the unit of controlled Qi flow into the flower. Then incinerate to ash. Make sure there are no gases within the incineration chamber beside oxygen, alternate gases result in doping of the ash and ruin it.
Store the ashes in an airtight container and transfer to a vacuum chamber for later use.
The liquid above is hyper-specific in use, and functions as a sort of pressure gate. It allows you to restrict the activation of various processes unless a minimum quantity of Qi passes through it, in this case it will stop neutrons from constantly flying out the metal.
Particle freezers are a flower known for catching subatomic particles with rest mass and then capable of keeping them in a stable state for almost eternity. This does mean photons cannot be trapped with it. The area of effect is generally a small ball in front of its flower, which is why we use it.

First thing to note is how cosmic diaphragms differ from traditional non magical components. This is our first material which actively destroys Qi contained within, and thus is a completely Qi-free item. So how is it useful?
Well it is also one of the more esoteric items in the universe due to being so insanely hard to utilise. Very few alchemy recipes actually find a use for it, but one for creating neutrons is simply perfect. This Qi destroying effect is also perfect for removing Qi injecting to the neutron source to satisfy its controlled Qi flow effects.
Cosmic diaphragm takes on the form of a thin plastic-like material. It has no friction constant and thus glides between your fingers, and it regularly switches between being entirely absorptive or reflective. Be careful to not handle this outside as the sudden sunlight reflection can blind you.
This tiny amount of fabric should be a sheet roughly 10cm by 10cm. You need to fold it into a lotus shape as you would with thin paper. No I am not joking. Please find some guides or references for this step on your own, I refuse to teach origami.
Scoop out the innards of a Bloodspark orange and mashup the flesh. Grinding is not necessary. Pour the liquid over your lotus and the flesh into your previously made ash. Try to fully have all the ash used here, even if it doesn’t fully coat this orange,
Bloodspark oranges have a standard effect of granting its consumer an electric property, and create some interesting lightning element inks, but we care little for those. Instead it plays a supplemental role in the mass creation of neutrons.
Last you drop the shard of regenerative metal into lotus and begin a time distortion process. This can be done through formations accelerating and decelerating the flow of time, or you can begin moving close to lightspeed to endure relativistic effects. Whichever is easiest for you…

You will notice this step's completion as the lotus’ colour changes to match the regenerative metal. Nothing left but to add the ash coated orange and leave such an object to form in a vacuum. This step takes 2 months on average, variation is normally give or take a day due to random particle movements.
Compact the final product into whatever shape you desire, this metal is highly malleable.
Usage
This was looked at earlier, but this metal constantly emits a stream of neutrons when provided with Qi. It’s properties allow for simple fixtures in all manners of machines, but most importantly produces too low a quantity to be argued as a weapon of mass destruction.
They are occasionally useful at penetrative imaging especially given their mobile nature. But in the end they are mostly used in portable fission reactors, which are about as rare as you imagine given how hard compression is. Anyway, why not just store your reactor in a sub-dimension, that solves all the problems instantly…
