《Life of the dark god》Chapter 1 Betrayal

I didn’t sleep that night. I would practice my control on magic, check my detection magic or I would close my eyes to meditate and to get some rest but I didn’t fall asleep. I couldn’t. I was sure the villagers would come and do something to me when I sleep. I just felt that they were people like that.
“It is not something nice but I shouldn’t trust them. No one would in this kind of situation right?”(Me)
Yes I was pretty cold and showed almost no emotions, and yes I was talking to myself again. I never really cared that much for others. But I would trust people who were trustworthy like my family and the demons at home. But definitely not them. They will betray my trust. I was 100% sure.
The feeling of something or someone activating my detection magic interrupted with my thoughts. I sharpened my senses, erased my presence and scent with mana, used a combination of wind and light barrier to repel light so that they couldn’t see me and went into hiding to observe the situation.
Shortly after I heard someone talking and coming near my hut. I got excited and needed to calm down.
“These stupid humans. They would betray someone they met for the first time only for a little bit of money. Humans are really greedy creatures.”(?)
“Shut up. Don’t wake him up.”(?)
At least now I knew what was going on. The villagers told someone else of my existence for something called money. My prediction was right on target. Not that it was something good though.
After organizing my thoughts again the 2 people entered the hut. I could see that they were not humans. From the stories of my mum they were definitely beasts or beastmen. The only big difference between the 2 species is that beast men have intelligence on par with humans and demons, while beasts practically only have their instinct to survive.

These two looked like they had a lot of battle experience so I would rather try not fighting them. One of them had a scar over his left eye. It was hard to tell if he could see through it. But if it came down to fighting I knew I had some chances to win.
And I noticed something else. Both of them were carrying weapons with them. One of them had a spear while the other carried a heavy sword. Both looked rather sharp and shiny. I really wanted them because I haven’t had the chance to hold or wield a weapon yet. I almost started drooling because of how much I wanted them. They probably wanted to use those to fight and kill me. So their goal was clear.
“I thought he is here. Did the villagers lie to us?”(?)
“I don’t think they are that dumb yet. He probably has some intelligence and escaped.”(?)
By now they noticed that the bed I should be lying in was empty. They looked around and almost found me once. I got a little heart attack there. After searching through the little hut and not finding me, one of them put on a wicked smile. Seriously why did not finding me make him happy? What’s wrong with all those people?
“Hoho. It has been a while since we had an intelligent prey.”(?)
“Don’t get overconfident we don’t know anything about him.”(?)
And they finally left. I was excited all the time since they entered my detection range. When I checked that they were far enough away I dispelled my barrier and left the hut. I was standing in front of it.
“What do I do now?”(Me)
I didn’t want to follow those two because I didn’t know who they were or if they would be able to detect me somehow but I knew something will happen if they are not able to find me. I thought what I should do now and the best idea I could come up with was to sneak into the village and observe the situation further.

I reactivated my wind-light barrier again and headed to the village. When I reached it I saw all the people were gathered in one place and formed some kind of circle. I hid behind a house. It was far away that they wouldn’t notice me as long I kept silent and I was close enough to be able to see everything.
When I focused my sight on what was inside that circle I could see the two beastmen from earlier. Next to them about 6 human children were lying on the floor. There could be more but there was a crowd in front of me so I couldn’t see everything. What I saw was that 5 of them were seriously injured. In my opinion it looked like they were beaten up to the point where if they didn’t get treatment soon they could even die.
“Find your young guest and bring him to us, than we will spare your children.”(?)
One of the two beastmen said. As I looked back at the villagers they seemed rather depressed and sad. They knew that if those two were unable to find me they would be even more helpless. I didn’t plan to interfere with them because I had no reason to, so their children were as good as dead. They should do their last prayers. Not that there would be a god to hear them though.
“Why does it have to be the future head and the future hopes of the village who will support you in the future? Why can’t you take some of the other children or adults?”(Old man)
The one who grinned like a devil before in my hut grinned wickedly again. It was such a disgusting smile. What’s wrong with him, seriously?
“We need you to be motivated to find him. Would you search him if we took someone else? For example you old man? I don’t think so. You should start your search now or I will not refrain from hurting them further.”(?)
At his words the villagers didn’t dare to say anything else because of fright. They shook nonstop and were too afraid to scatter and to look for me.
The one who said that just now took his heavy sword and attempted to swing it down on one of the children. I could see in the villager’s eyes that no one would try to stop him. That child also said farewell to his life. I was rather interested to see how sharp his weapon would be.
Before he could swing it down he got interrupted by a sudden shout.
“I beg you it is enough. Please stop this!”(?)
Someone rather interesting got on stage to save the human child from the beastmen in the last moment.
