《Life of the dark god》Prologue (Arc 2) First contact

I opened my eyes and stared at the sky.
Where am I?
I then looked at the wide ocean.
Am I dead?
I looked around and noticed that I was lying on a beach. I sat up and glanced at the forest behind me. For the first time in my life I wasn’t depressed about seeing a forest. Why? Because I could feel the Mana of other living beings which made me really happy.
As long as I am not strong enough to fly for a few days I should not go back to the sea and risk my life again.
Did I unconsciously swam until I reached the shore? Or have the waves washed me ashore? Well, who cares about that when I can finally start to interact with other races? Hopefully it would be the human continent though.
I guess sailing on a boat with nothing but water around and almost dying made me kind of insane because I spoke so much with myself.
I needed to calm down first. Inhale. Exhale. After calming my body and mind I set foot into the forest. There I noticed lots of new species of trees, animals and plants I have never seen before. Actually I haven’t seen any animals before.
Suddenly I noticed something. I was hungry. If I can get my hands on some ingredients I have knowledge of, I could cook them. I looked around for something I knew of but in this forest were only a lot of new plants and I didn’t want to take the risk of getting poisoned or paralysed.
Why didn’t I take something out of my [Space inventory]? I fucking lost the box. But I didn’t care too much about it at first because I have already read and memorized all the content of the books in there and everything of value or only mom’s mana was at home.
I don’t know how many hours I wandered around but I started losing my sense of direction due to my hunger. I turned around to look for the ocean and the beach but I was lost.

Actually on my way through this forest I saw a lot of animals which looked edible. But as I don't know anything about them, I didn't want to risk getting poisoned. Also I wanted to study them if I have the time and the possibility to do so. Also if they were the only one of their species I would have killed and eaten some valuable information. All in all I refrained from killing animals.
Suddenly I smelled something really nice. My senses where all keen because I trained them to their maximum capabilities through the years. So my nose could pick up smells from far away.
Good job nose.
Sad enough I started talking to myself again. I looked around restless searching where the smell originates from. When I located from which direction it came I sprinted there with all my might.
After some time following the smell, I somehow left the forest and entered a huge field which was probably used for farming. I could see a lot of little houses at the other side of the field. I walked through the path next to the field in order not to ruin the crop as I would if I trampled on it.
The field was definitely in use but there were no people outside even though it was day. Or was it? I didn’t know because I didn’t even know where I was. It was odd so I walked around to search for any signs of life. When I focused more intensely, I knew that they were hiding in their hoses.
“I know you are there you can come out I won’t do anything to you!”(Me)
I shouted but got no reply. It got on my nerves that they knew I was here but didn’t want to interact with me. I wanted to shout again but got interrupted.
“We are very sorry as we are only simple farmers. We were afraid of you because we often get invaded by beasts. Some of them can even change their appearance and look like humans. So please don’t get angry at us.”(Old Man)

The Old Man grinned at me and spoke politely. Actually you could say I was something like that. I mean I was by any means human, but I didn’t care. In my mind I was really happy. I knew that there was definitely a race called humans, so I wanted to learn more from them. But first I needed something to eat.
“I am sorry to have scared you. You don’t need to talk so politely. I was just wandering around here and got really hungry. I smelled something nice coming from here so I came here. I hope you could share something with me.”(Me)
It was really embarrassing as I said it but I couldn’t do anything else. The old man just looked at me. I think he thought that I wanted to kill or rob them or something like that. He probably never expected this outcome.
“Guys don’t be so mean to our young guest and come out to greet him.”(Old man)
After he said that one after another went out of their houses and came to greet me. As I looked around almost all of the people present here were humans. They all had a smile on their face but as an expert at faking my emotions, I knew they were faking it.
Except one little girl everyone else was human. She was a child probably of my age, about 7 years old. She looked like a normal human girl with black hair except that she had black cat ears and a black tail which she tried to hide. She was standing in a corner where no one would see her. She didn’t look that healthy nor clean and when I looked at her she noticed and quickly turned around to run away. Odd girl.
All of the humans were dirty. Not as dirty as the cat girl though, and they looked ever fearful as though something was out to get their lives. Every time I would move or act weird or somehow out of their expectation they got scared for no reason. Moreover, they only had plain looking clothes. Actually it was interesting to see which kind of clothes humans had.
“Sorry about that. We rarely get any visitors and as I mentioned about beasts taking human form you can tell why we're so cautious. But leaving that aside, it's only natural we will share our food with you and give you a bed to sleep for the night.”(Old Man)
I looked at the old man, thanked him and went after him. At first he showed me around. The inhabitants called this place a village and sadly they didn’t have much information and no books for me because they themselves knew nothing of the world.
We arrived at the house of the old man and his wife cooked something to eat for me. I finished eating some meat. I am sorry I couldn’t resist but as I didn’t kill the animals myself it is fine I guess.
The old man showed me where I would sleep. He also showed me around that place. It was a little hut made out of stones and wood. It wasn’t that big but it was enough for me to sleep.
After he went away I put up some wind detection magic, so I would know if someone would approach the hut, allowing me to react if something would happen. It worked like some kind of sensor. If something disturbed the mana in the air I would know instantly.
I ended up putting a lot of security up. I was pretty sure they wouldn’t be that nice to a person they met for the first time. At least not if they have almost nothing themselves.
They definitely plan something. They didn’t even ask me anything. They didn’t want to know of my name or where I come from. Just a big honest idiot would fall into such an obvious trap.
So my first day interacting with humans came to an end.
