《Jezoi》Chapter 10.5 - My first night.

I bet you’re curious about the time I peep in Leonara’s tent. Right?
Well, I’ll to you about it.
First, you remember that I arrived on Jezoi in a temple? I’ve already told you about that, so I won’t develop it. The thing I want to remind you is that I was lead from there to a meeting with an old Champion. And the journey took two days, meanings we set camp in the forest during the night.
That’s the night I will talk to you about.
We were walking through a dense forest, the others had backpacks with their stuff in it. I was only wearing the clothes they gave me and a walking staff.
It was like in the movies of LOTR, huge trees in all the directions. You can’t walk more than two meters before you’re forced to walk around the trunk of a tree. And the canopy is so thick that the sunlight barely reaches the ground. The ground itself is completely covered by dead leaves. I’ve found strange that they could be so many dead leaves on the ground and so many living ones at the trees’ crowns. When I asked how it could be possible, Wilenia explained to me that those trees were specials and had always new leaves. It’s supposed to explain the fact that they always lose their leaves. Just after that Lamariac kindly told us, and particularly me, to shut up.
I continued to walk in the woods, enjoying the view of the grey and brown tree barks going from the red leaves on the ground to the dark green ones in the sky.
Around one hour before nightfall, we reached a clearing in the woods. Once again I found myself in a fantastical scenery. A small hill between the trees that allows a space where none of them grow. A perfect circle of about 25m in diameter. Right in the middle a circle of stone inside which one you can see the marks of fire.

What? You want me to go straight to the peeping part? Well too bad, I tell the story, I choose when I talk about the good part. And first I settle the scenery.
Where was I? Ah yes, the clearing.
So in the middle of the clearing there a small fire pit. And around it a few wooden bench. The place seems regularly used as a camping site, and the Elves have installed some accommodations. The fire pit, a stack of firewood near it, the benches, and thanks God - or should I say "thanks Ioustilininianios"? No, too long and bothersome. Maybe thanks to the "Elf God"? - there is an outhouse. A simple wooden room in the woods, with a wooden chair and a hole in it and a deep hole under it. On the side of the small hill, there is a place that seems to be provided for setting the tents.
Leonara is already here, she arrived before us since she was scouting ahead. And she had prepared the fire in the firepit. She even started to cook two rabbits on it. That answers one of my unspoken questions: do the Elves eat meat? Yes, they do.
When we arrived the others start to unpack their backpack and to set the tents. Kulirion and Joralen had two tents each. They had their own of course, but also Leonara’s, as she can’t scout the forest with her tent on the back. And they had a tent for me, that’s nice. Joralen made a sign to me to come near him, and he taught me how to raise the tents.
After all the tents had been set we ate the rabbits with some fruits they had in their backpacks they talk a bit about the next day of travel. Sometimes they spoke in the language used with the translation spell so I can understand them. But Lamariac often used another language, I think he really dislikes me.

After the meal, everyone except Kulirion went to their tent, he stayed up to stand guard.
Not feeling too tired and thinking I could talk a bit to Leonara before going to sleep, I went to her tent. She’s so cute, and she didn’t walk with us, so I’m quite curious about her. Seeing a bit of light coming from inside the tent, and hearing a bit of noise, I concluded she was still awake. Then I made my mistake, I opened the tent a pass my head inside.
I froze, seeing her tiny back, she’s naked and sited in a sleeping bag. Her skin seems so smooth and there are two green brands going down on it. They descend from the green strand in her hair and disappear beneath the sleeping bag.
She turned, she didn’t know it was me and must have thought it was Wilenia. It must have been it because she turned without hiding her front. Allowing me to dumbly stare at her tiny perky boobs, I want to grab them. But, fortunately, she reacted quicker than me and one of her hand covered them, while the other slap at my face with all her strength. Her offended scream turned into a painful one and I quickly pull myself out of her tent.
Everyone stormed out of their tent and Kulirion grabbed me by the collar and dragged me away from the tent, he then proceeded to give me a good earful. I’m feeling hot, my face red with shame. I tried to explain I didn’t intend to peep, and he seemed to believe me. After all, he heard me walking through the camp, I wasn’t trying to be sneaky. He explained to me how rude it is to enter a tent without asking for the permission first and I felt, even more, shame seeing I didn’t even think about that. I’m really stupid sometimes.
After a bit of time, Wilenia came to tell us that Leonara was really angry. And that I'll truly be better off if I forget what I saw. I explained to her I didn’t want to be rude, I’m just uneducated in their ways, and I will apologize to the young girl as soon as possible.
Wilenia looked at me with a conflicted look in her eyes. I had a feeling she was glad to hear me say that but also disappointed. Like you can be disappointed by a stupid child that seems to understand nothing of what you tell it. She told me to never address Leonara as a young girl, she’s a grown adult and if I don’t want to worsen the situation, I must keep that fact in mind.
Everyone went to bed. Except for Kulirion that still had to stand guard for a part of the night. As a newly arrived and inexperienced person, I was exempt from it.
The next morning we ate some travel ration and I had the opportunity to present my apologies to Leonara. She seemed to accept them, but she looked at me with anger in her eyes before heading forward to scout out the way.

Displacement
or, Deux Navires Passant dans la Nuit If you wake up in a new world, with only your memories of home to guide you, you have to trust the first people you meet. The first people Leah meets seem to know her - but not her. Leah is thrust into a fighter's role that does not quite suit her, and those who 'rescued' her do their best to help her fit in. They hint at a world that Leah can only vaguely understand without serious research and exploration, but how to do that research, when everyone believes her to be a local of this place, and too many questions might draw unwanted attention? And what about home? The more Leah learns about this world, the less she believes that she woke up on the right side of the bed - or more accurately, on the right side of the conflict. With magic being strictly regulated in her current "home," maybe it's time to uproot and look for a new set of allies... -- Displacement is a queer / lgbt bodyswap isekai: Leah Armande falls out of a Quebecois city into an unfamiliar fantasy world, and Leah Talesh falls out of her adventuring party's homeland and into an unfamiliar industrial world. The story follows both women as they navigate their new surroundings, trying at times to find a way home, at times just to pass for a local, and at times to actually make a life for themselves in their new world. Expect in-depth politics and worldbuilding, sapphic moments, foibles, and far too much time spent either in libraries or convalescing (or sometimes both).
