“Huff… huff… huff…”
You have leveled up!
You have gained two free stat points, two physical stat points and one Skill point.
Killing foes is the surest way of gaining experience, go on and kill as much as you want.
“Huff… Fuck… I almost thought I would die there… But they’re so weak”
Looking around, Mick saw a lot of bodies, some were still moving but most of them were visibly dead. They had been slashed by the sharp claws of Mickey and his familiar, some of them had burnt mark were fireball had hit them.
Going through his notification he saw that he had gain level in a lot of Skills.
Skill Strong nails had level up!
Your nails are harder and sharper now. Keep slashing people and they’ll become real claws!
‘Nice, It will be cool to have claws.’
Skill Hard scales + had level up!
Your scales are now harder and will block more damage. Keep being hit and they’ll be able to endure everything!
‘It’s already enough to block most of these little fucker’s hit. But I need to be ready for stronger foes.’
Skill Familiar had level up!
Your familiar will be a bit more potent. Keep working with it and it will become a powerful ally!
‘Hey, that’s good if the little bird can fight with me. She actually was helpful during this fight.’ “Hey, Heop. Good work, you’re a good girl. I’m looking forward to what you’ll be able to do in the future.”
Mick took the time to congratulate the bird of prey before going back to the waiting notifications. And as she landed herself on his shoulder and rub her head against his, it looked like she was enjoying getting praised.
Skill Fireball had level up!
Your little ball of fire is now bigger and hotter and will deal more damage. Keep burning your enemy and follow the path of a true Pyromancer!
‘Ima become a dragon!’
Skill Hard skin had level up!
Your skin is now harder and will block more damage. Keep being hit and it’ll be able to endure everything!
‘It’s almost the same as for Hard scales +. Does the author of those notification lack imagination?’
Skill Small body enhancement had level up!
Your body is now more able in all the fields. Keep using it and it’ll become amazing!
‘Hu? I already have an amazing body, but I won't spit on any more power.’
Skill Inflict fear + had level up!
Your ability to instill fear in your opponents is now stronger. Keep scaring everyone and steal the throne of the Bogeyman!
‘What? The Bogeyman’s real here? Ok…’
Skill Strong blood had level up!
Your blood is now thicker and will hardly flow out of your body. Keep bleeding and it’ll be as thick as marmalade!
‘That explains why I don’t bleed very much. Well, I don’t have a lot of injuries for beginning with, but I’m used to seeing more blood. But if it becomes thick and stops flowing in my body, won’t that be a problem? I hope whoever created this system must have taken it into account.’
After that Mick looked at his status and saw he was now level 7, but he didn’t saw his stat and Skill Points. Asking himself the same questions Marc had asked himself, he passed to the rest of his status. He noted he had gain one point in each of the on the left column of his status, Mick concluded that they were probably the physical stats and they had probably gone up thanks to his Small body enhancement Skill.

He also saw that his Prehensile tail Skill was at 4% of the level two, pushing Mick to use his tail and see the level up notification.
Skill Prehensile tail had level up!
Your tail is now agiler and will better respond to your brain. Keep using it to grab stuff and you’ll be able to use it as precisely as your fingers!
‘As precisely as my fingers? Hmm, I can think of some ways to use it.’
The last change of interest in his status was that Heop had also leveled up, but only to level 5. It was still impressive in his eyes and he decided to pet the murdering bird a little.
Taking a good look around the room, Mick decided to finish the little red men. He had hoped to gain some experience this way and he did. He gained his level 8.
Reminding himself of the presence of a little blue woman, Mick looked for her. He found lying on the floor behind the altar. It seemed like she was hiding and fainted during the course of the battle. But when Mick touched her shoulder, she screamed, revealing that she was only feigning.
“Ha! Play dead all you want, I have other things to do for now than taking care of you.” Mick chuckled and order Heop to stand guard while he was proceeding to some experimentations.
He took his attention on the dead bodies lying on the floor. Now that he was not busy fighting or killing them, he noted that he had managed to slaughter forty-two more of the ugly bastards, not counting the ones who flew back in the corridor. And that they were all males, and hideous to watch. Mick choose the biggest corp, the only one with a shirt, and he tried his Lesser skeleton animation Skill on it.
The body twitched once, twice, then went numb. Mick tried again but it didn’t work either.
He had thought that this Skill would allow him to have skeleton minions to do his bidding. But something seemed wrong. Thinking more about the Skill, and particularly the name ‘Lesser skeleton animation’, it hit him. It was a Skill to animate skeletons, not zombies.
‘Fuuuuck… I have to remove all the flesh…’
__________
Milian was really afraid.
First, she had been abducted by the red goblins. It was obvious for her that they had planned to use her as a sacrifice for a despicable ceremony.
The red goblins and the blue ones were at war since a time long before the elder of Milian’s tribe could remember. According to the legends, the different species of goblins had been at war at least since the death of the last Goblin King. But her tribe, the Bolk tribe, and the Gark tribe were fighting each other for the control of the mountain since two hundred years.
And the blue goblins were losing the war. Confident in their superiority, the red goblins of the Gark tribe had kidnap Milian. They had made a false attack on the camp to lure away the warriors and manage to break in on the other side. They went all the way to the Bolk tribe’s chief hut and killed his wives. The chief and his sons were fighting the diversionary force and couldn’t protect the women. So the red goblins had managed to kidnap Milian, the only daughter the chief had. They had put her in a bag and flew away.
She was considered as a beauty by the goblin standard and that made convinced her that she was to be raped by the red bastards before being killed and eaten. But they had taken her deep in the mountain and then something strange happened.

She heard screams, at first she hoped her tribe was here to save her. But when the bag had been opened, her hopes were crushed.
The thing that had open the bag was a kobold. Or she first thought it was. When she saw the completely black eyes and the embryonic wings she understood it was not a mere kobold. It could only be some sort of monster or some uncommon kind of lizardfolk, it was maybe a mutant kobold after all.
Then the creature spoke to her, revealing long and sharp teeth, those of a predator. And it was grinning at her.
She screamed and tried to crawl away and it continued to talk to her. But she couldn’t understand a thing, even if her life depended on it. And maybe it was.
But strangely the demon looked away from her, like if it didn’t care. And he summoned a strange bird like she had never seen before. It was kind of normal for the situation, she was already living a nightmare. Why could it not summon some strange bird that looked like it was made of metal?
She also saw the demonic kobold - yeah it must have been that, some kind of demonic kobold - was a male. It was kind of obvious the moment you looked at it, he was completely naked. His manhood was in full view for whoever looked and it was really more impressive than the ones she had seen. Well this stranger was almost two meter high and goblins were barely one meter tall, so it was to be expected that he had a bigger penis than goblins, but even considering it was big.
But Milian didn’t have more time to look at the demonic kobold. Red goblins were coming in the room. And they were much more numerous than before. At least sixty red goblins were rushing the intruder.
With a number so high, Milian knew they were going to kill the demonic kobold and then do their business with her. They should probably add torture to the program, as a sort of vengeance for all their dead, even if they were not her fault.
But once again, the strange and tall kobold did something unbelievable. He started to slaughter his opponents. They could barely harm him and they were not paying attention to her.
From her hiding point behind the altar, she looked the demonic kobold killing the Gark tribe’s warriors. His bird was flying around the room and went after the eyes of the goblins, adding to the blood flying in the room and flooding the ground.
This nightmarish vision convinced Milian she was dreaming. She lied down on the ground, they weren’t a lot of blood behind the altar. Then she closed her eyes and waited, she would soon wake up in her bed, back home.
But no. The sounds of carnage diminished and soon they were only the sound of a tall man walking and chuckling while petting his strange bird. She heard him coming near her and she did her best to remain still. But when she sensed his hot and blooded scales on her bared shoulder, she couldn’t repress a shudder.
He talked to her again the went away. And soon strange noises started to come from his position.
When she found the courage to look above the altar, she saw him removing the flesh of a cadaver. From the shirt on the side, it must have been the chief of the Gark tribe, only him wore that kind of clothes in his tribe, it was a mark of dominance, a strange one according to Milian.
Looking at the demon working, Milian saw he was trying to remove the brain of the corp by the eyes. The actions of the demon and the stench of death in the air were too much for her, she fainted. For good this time.
__________
Thud.
Looking at the sound, Mick saw that the little blue woman had fainted. He didn’t care and went back to his work. He was almost finished.
Once he managed to remove most of the brain, and scraped almost all of the flesh out of the skeleton, he looked at it with anticipation in his eyes. This time it would work. He activated his Lesser skeleton animation Skill again.
The skeleton twitched three times then went limp again. If it wasn’t for the notification that followed the movement, Mick would have thought it had failed again.
Congratulation!
You have summoned your first skeleton, it’s the first step on the road to becoming a true Necromancer. Continue the good work and you’ll soon have an army of undead minions!
“Great. I have my own skeleton. Now, sit!”
The skeleton sat down cross-legged.
“Lie down!”
It obeyed.
“Roll over!”
The skeleton performed and Mick thought it was stupid to give those orders to his skeleton. Well, he had to test if the skeleton could understand his orders, but it was not a dog.
“Show me three of your fingers.”
The skeleton raised three fingers.
“Stand on one foot and raised the opposed arm.”
The mindless construct of bones took the pose for his master.
“Fine, so you can understand some structured orders, good. Now, scrape the flesh out of this body. Don’t damage the bones.”
Mick sat on the altar and looked his skeleton worked. He was feeling tired. After all, he had just come into existence here and had already fought two times against multiple opponents. The second time was even a long fight. Even if he had not really been armed, he was more tired than he ever felt.
When the skeleton finished his task he stood right behind it and waited. Mick get close to the second skeleton and used his Skill on it.
The new skeleton twitch, like the first had, but no notification came to Mick. It could be normal, the previous notification had talked about the first skeleton, and it would be a bother to have a notification each time he raised a skeleton. It was already bothersome to have it for each level he gain during a fight.
Unfortunately for Mick, when he tried to order the second skeleton to move, this one didn’t obey, it stayed there not moving at all. It had failed. Mick tried and failed two more times to raised the skeleton and concluded he could only raise one with his current Skill level.
Checking his status he saw a new section, dispatching information about the skeleton.

“Those fuckers were goblins? I thought goblins were green. Or is it they are different kinds of goblins? Is the blue girl a goblin too? And she was about to be sacrificed because she’s not of the same skin color? The goblins are racists? Well, whatever, times to go looking for something to eat.”

Rebirth, but not quite.
A boy is born in a fantasy world with knowledge of modern earth, however he does not have personal memories of living or dying before. Good news is he was born in militaristic branch of the royal family and the variety of forms and uses of magic in this world are great fun, bad news is with status come expectations. Follow him as he makes his place in the world all the while escaping boredom with all his might. This is a story without a big baddie trying to destroy the world, without gods choosing heroes to give powers to and without systems that determine what you can and can't do. This is my first fiction and i'm open to suggestions. I plan on using a few cliches while putting my own spin on things, if i write something that feels too much like every other fictions, please say so.
