《Left Behind In Another World》Chapter 10: Adventurer's Guild

[T-this is delicious!] (Aster)
[Of course it is. Neshe made this you know?] (Axilia)
[Your compliments are too much~] (Neshe)
I was treating the boy and the girl who helped me to food at Blue Rose Inn. I could have handled the three men who attacked on my own but I didn’t want to have to fight them. I tried talking to them but they wouldn’t listen. Then these two came along and solved it without violence...well mostly. The girl, Axilia, has long, blonde hair and is beautiful, but she is a little violent. The boy, Yuki, has white hair and is quite strange. During the fight with the attackers, his personality seemed different than what it is now. He seemed a little arrogant.
[I heard a little of what was going on, but why were those two guys threatening you?] (Axilia)
[Apparently they had a problem with some of the guards and they were taking it out on me. They must have thought I was still a guard.] (Aster)
[You’re not anymore?] (Yuki)
[No. I quit.] (Aster)
[If you don’t mind me asking, why?] (Yuki)
[Hm..I suppose the least I can do is tell you. The guards in this town are seen as corrupt and I didn’t enjoy the people looking down on us. Well, I can’t complain. There are many guards who use their authority to take money.] (Aster)
[I see...But what are you going to do now?] (Yuki)
[I thought of just becoming an adventurer. I’m going to get my guild card from the adventurer’s guild tomorrow] (Aster)
[HAAAH?! There are guilds in this world?!] (Yuki)
[W-what do you mean by “this world”?] (Aster)
[O-oh. Sorry. Nothing.] (Yuki)
[What’s wrong with you? You can’t just shout things like that. People will think you’re weird.] (Axilia)

[S-sorry] (Yuki)
I’m lost… What in the world are they talking about?
[Sorry. This guy has some brain-damage. Don’t worry about him.] (Axilia)
[Can you please stop.] (Yuki)
[You two sure are strange aren’t you?] (Aster)
[[DON’T LUMP ME TOGETHER WITH THIS IDIOT!]] (Axilia and Yuki)
People are starting to stare...
✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧
After last night’s events, we’re all heading to the Adventurer’s Guild. Yuki insisted he wanted to go and Axilia decided to follow us.
[Excuse me. I’d like to register as an adventurer.] (Aster)
[Of course. Please fill out your information in this form.] (Receptionist)
[Thank you.] (Aster)
I filled out the form and handed it back to the receptionist.
[I just remembered. Yuki, you should fill out a form too. You need a way of earning money don’t you?] (Axilia)
[...You’re right. I can’t keep relying on you…] (Yuki)
[Excuse me. Can I also have a form?] (Yuki)
[Certainly. Here you go.] (Receptionist)
✧ ✧ ✧ ✧ ✧
Yuki’s POV
As I start filling out the form, the second blank worries me. I made sure to whisper very quietly to Axilia.
I decided to put ‘human’ for race because it would be troublesome to do otherwise. I put mage for class because I did magic (I think) back in the forest. For name I decided to only put my first name, as only nobles have last names in this world.
[Here.] (Yuki)
[Thank you. My name is Lillian. If there’s anything you need help with, you can ask me.] (Lillian)
Lillian leaves for a bit and then comes back with two cards.
Mine reads:
Name: Yuki
Race: Human
Age: 17
Class: Mage
Title: None
[You will both start from rank D. The ranks in order from greatest to least are S, A, B, C and D. After a certain number of quests, your rank increases.] (Lillian)

[Thank you for telling us.] (Aster)
[...] (Aster)
Aster seems like he wants to say something…
[...] (Aster)
[U-um...what’s wrong?] (Axilia)
[I know this is a bit sudden, but could you guys form a party with me?] (Aster)
That was rather surprising.
[If you don’t mind me asking, why?] (Yuki)
[Well, it’s just that I want to go on a quest and it seems I don’t have any friends...] (Aster)
[Whaaat. You? With a face like that I thought you would be friends with the entirety of Arudena.] (Axilia)
[Ahaha….would you think about it though?] (Aster)
[I mean...sure. How about you?] (Yuki)
I turn and look at Axilia, who seems to be thinking.
[Sure. Why not. It seems like it might be fun anyway. Is there a particular quest you want to do.]
(Axilia)
Wait. Wait. Wait.
I have a feeling I know what it is. I mean, we need something cliche to happen right around now, right?
[This dungeon listed here. It’s not really a quest, but we can get a lot of items and get stronger there.] (Aster)
I knew it.

The Last Science [SE]
[SE has the same content as the original story, split into smaller chunks for easier reading. This story is on a temporary hiatus due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. I work in healthcare and unfortunately no longer have the freetime to continue posting on a regular basis. As soon as our workload decreases, I will return. Thanks for reading! 💙] No one ever knows the whole story. Deep in the forests of the Pacific Northwest, the fading town of Rallsburg stumbles upon an amazing discovery—magic itself. Faced with potentially world-shattering power, the people of Rallsburg keep the secret for themselves. Led by Rachel DuValle, a perpetually underestimated college student with grand ambitions, they seek to found a new society. The world beyond suspects nothing, but magic cannot stay hidden forever. A train arrives in Rallsburg carrying Alden Bensen, a directionless high school graduate. To him, magic could represent meaning for his life, an explanation for his empty existence. This potent force offers anyone the power to change humanity forever—or send it cascading into swift and total annihilation. The Last Science is an ongoing science-fiction / low-fantasy web novel series, focused on the modern world with a twist. New societies bud and grow, but the people who make them up are imperfect and flawed. The story includes elements of mystery, action, crime, interpersonal drama, relationships, philosophy, sociology, politics, and much more, all centered on the perspective characters driving the tale. This is the "Scraps Edition" of the story, where the chapters have been split up into bite-size chunks (roughly 1500-3000 words), for your convenience. The prose has been edited from its original form, with some improvements, but there are no content differences from the original. New chapters will be posted throughout each week starting on Friday and appearing on multiple days thereafter, depending on the length of the chapter. Content Warning (by request): This series delves into some topics and situations which may be upsetting for some readers. In American rating parlance, the narrative would be rated PG-13 (except for language), but some have noted the story can get pretty dark on occasion. Please use your best judgment, and don't be afraid to take breaks and come back later. I'll still be here! [Discord] - come hang out and chat! War of the Zwei Kinds [Logbook Deactivated]
It’s the end of the world as humanity knew it. A time where humans and humanoids co-existed. Alien Life forces had no choice but to work together, to save the place they were brought into aeons ago. Aliens, what aliens? They look like us, speak like us, and act like us. Higher intelligence so to speak is truly existent, but with a cost. By working with the humans, they created Guardian Weapons--your every day looking weapons but with a slight shift of using condensed energy instead of typical gunpowder. However, this wasn't all. A secret governmental team of operatives scouted from all around the world was trying to find a cure for *The Happening*. An endangering disaster which wiped out most of the male species, whether human, animal or any type of sexual reproduction in the other kingdoms. Equipped with weapons of bio-destruction, they will mow down the terrorist groups, the hidden organizations, and any other party--that tries to stop their freedom and rights. This fiction is written, maintained and owned by Jann Lueder who is following the acts of the Writer's Pledge. P.S If you are wondering, there is no sort of Harem genre involved, it looks like it at first glance but the plot will explain it all.
